    Watching this again. The little girl capes reminded me of the capes that the Royal Family members wore so they are princess capes.

    Those cozies are handy for stacking and storing the glass dishes. Lots of great ideas and so many free options and opportunities to use up scraps. I have a Kam table press with grommets dyes. I got the table press when I was doing a lot of bag making.

      Thanks, Christine! I may have to make some bowl cozies now and stack them in between my mixing bowls! I've ordered a grommet hole cutter and setting tool, plus more heavy duty grommets that I hope will work for my bags. I bet the Kam press works great. I'm not sure how much bag making I will be doing in the future. Thanks for commenting and happy sewing! 💕Lisa

    Thank you for your generous sharing of your researched ideas and sewing suggestions. I am just returning to sewing again at 71 after not sewing for many years . At one time had sewn my own and my little daughters’ clothing, bedding/ window treatments, toys, etc. much like your projects but now need to renew my confidence . Your videos help me so much. How do you spell ‘ cotton lon’ and where do you get it? Thank you.

      Thank you so much! Sounds like you have lots of experience to draw from. 🙂 The fabric you asked about is called "cotton lawn". I don't remember using it when I was younger, so I guess it wasn't as common then. I think most online fabric stores, as well as regular fabric stores carry it. I've gotten some from Joanns, Spoonflower, Guthrie & Ghani, and maybe Sewing Studio. I'v never seen it at Hobby Lobby. I did just check online at Walmart.Com and they had a few selections of cotton lawn, but I've never ordered any of it from them. I do love the texture and feel of cotton lawn and will be making more garments from it this summer. Hope you have a wonderful new year filled with lots of happy sewing time! 💕Lisa

    Great ideas! I just came across your channel this morning. I will be following you as I am always looking for quick and easy gifts and it was great to hear that you shop some of my favorite websites. Don’t you love Spoonflower and JuJu. They have the best stuff. I have some snowboard fabric from Spoonflower with a few other coordinating solids to make a quick row quilt for my grandson to take when they go snowboarding. And JuJu has the best machine embroidery designs ever. I too have more than I will ever use, but I love her stuff. Thanks for sharing your awesome ideas. I will be trying some of them soon since they are all free patterns.

      Thank you! I’m actually planning on doing a sewing room tour in January or February. I just have to make myself get everything tidied up. I only have to clean about half of it up for my videos! LOL. Also I have sewing stuff in my laundry room so I guess I’ll have to straighten that up too!😜 merry Christmas 💕 Lisa

    the dino was very cute but I would be concerned about the vinyl I could be totally wrong but is it toxic? we all know everything goes into babies mouths - the 2nd is could a baby chew those eyes off? They could be a chocking hazzard. sorry I don;t want to be negative just cautious

    • @thesouthernseamstress
      @thesouthernseamstress  7 месяцев назад

      Good point, I'm sure it wouldn't be good if a baby ingested the vinyl. I guess it would be best to stick with only using firmly attached fabrics and non-toxic fabric markers or embroidery. Thanks for watching and commenting! 💕Lisa

    I would think OCC would of told you not to include the capes if there was a wide spread problem. Most children know its for make believe, whatever country they live in. Proper due diligence is needed, not just a comment from one viewer.

    • @thesouthernseamstress
      @thesouthernseamstress  8 месяцев назад +1

      It does say they're acceptable on their website. I know all the boxes are inspected before they are given out to the children, so the capes are probably removed if a certain area has banned them. I still think they are a really cute idea that most children will love. Thanks for watching and happy new year! 💕Lisa

    If we cater to the stupid people in the name of safety, we'll just end up sitting a corner, afraid to do anything. It's tragic the parents of those children, didn't teach them better, and don't supervise them. But again, we can't let those things prevent everyone else from enjoying life. There is ALWAYS a way for an item to be used to the detriment of themselves or others...so do we stop having anything, for anyone? People get hurt in cars, do we stop driving? People choke on food, do we stop making/growing food?

    • @thesouthernseamstress
      @thesouthernseamstress  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, good supervision is needed with a lot of toys supposedly made for children. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a wonderful New Year! 💕Lisa
