It's probably because it's a mixture of the clothing options from gaiden, the job system from the LAD games, and style switching. It seems like they're treating styles more like jobs, and there are different outfits for each job

We will have to wait and see but yeah that part is similar to black flag, for hiring NPC’s and growing your crew. And this game is its own game, not DLC.

Plus, the beat em up would mean controlling characters one at a time per battle (unless you add a swap control mechanic), no job change (yes, I'm aware that some of the games have allow you to swap fighting styles, but it's not enough), and no over the top moves (at least not as over the top as the turn based). Overall, I want Majima to be in the party in a way that you can control both him and Ichiban without the other feeling like an npc, and the formerly turn based, currently strategy based gameplay works for that. However, I do respect your opinion and understand why you want it back.

From what I can gather from this footage, you can run automatically in combat now, since X has now replaced run with the jumping stuff (it could still be an option, but still) and that makes me quite happy. I imagine they’ll do this for if they make an Akiyama Gaiden game (I would love that, because imagine the air combos for Akiyama). Looking forward to it.
Honestly; the turn based RPG like a dragon games are great, but Yakuza as a series [to me] is a beat em up game. I'm so glad they opted to go that route with this game!
All Yakuza games have Always been, are, and Always be the asset flip of each other. It's the sad reality of the Japanese gaming industry , but the worst part it's that RGG Studios brings this work theory to the maximum .
