    Phenomenal lesson. Thank you kindly. The more I lean about valve springs the more I loose my confidence for swapping my springs in requirement to my Milwaukee 8 Fueling 508 cam. I found you because although I’m doing a Harley engine build, the parts and concepts are the same.
    I decided to leave the porting to the experts. But the shop I’m going with has .625 lift springs on their Pro Street Heads. Will I run into a Valve Spring Float scenario with my 508 lift cam?
    Very Respectfully,

    The video says cut the guide down but shows the spring pocket being cut. .020" is not close enough for me, and on a spring with a higher rate it can be quite a bit. One exception is correcting for a spring that has a bit more pressure at the seat and open height.

    limit the rpm for 15 minutes for break in. Yet my cam requires 25-30 minutes at 3000 rpm for break in.. Which do i follow for a new build?

    Can we discuss about your 918 spring and magnum roller rockers ? Them are some crappy parts .

    Hello guys, I would love to know if you can tell me what's the max lift these springs can handle, here are the springs specs: seat load 136 lbs @ 1.800'' , open 412 lbs @ 1.170'' , spring rate 438 lbs/in and coil bind 1.125'' , thanks in advance

    hello do you know the part number spring valves for dodge dakota 5.2 with compcams 20-746-9??? thanks

    When you say plus or minus .020 that you have .020 spec range? Lets say your valve springs are 1.750 installed height and you get some at 1.737 or 1.742 is that still in spec? Im being told no

    What's the reason behind valve spring break-in?

    • @Compcams1976
      @Compcams1976  8 лет назад +1

      +L 88 It's important that all parts mate properly so they will optimally work together and there is a much lesser risk of something breaking. Hope this helps!

    When are you going to start to remanufacture the Rimac spring tester ? I see that is the one that you use even though there no longer made ? The market is begging for these !!!

    Is it necessary to replace the rod in the center of thee Valve spring?? If so may you do a video on how to install them.

    • @79tazman
      @79tazman 3 года назад

      What do you mean the rod in the center of the valve spring? the only thing that is there is the valve stem

      All 16 exhaust intake valves is what I meant.
      The Rod's valve stems wrap around.

    Anyone please answer.....
    I replaced my street bike (sohc)with 10mm lift cam instead of 5mm lift. But the results are poor than the stock. Upgrade big carbs too and increased the compression ratio also.
    please support...

      Did you measure piston to valve clearance to see if that amount of lift was possible? you should always check that to make sure valve won't slap the piston with a bigger lift cam

    If I am adding a new roller rocker cam do I break the cam in for 30 minutes at 2000 rpm or break the valve springs in first on a normal heat cycle?

    • @Compcams1976
      @Compcams1976  9 лет назад +2

      +Don Boser You can just follow the proper break-in procedure foryour camshaft. This will also take care of the valve springs. Then
      just be sure to let the engine cool down completely before you start it again. Hope this helps! Thank you.

      What about dual valve springs? Thanks

    • @waynethomas1726
      @waynethomas1726 4 года назад +1

      In my experience there isn't much break in needed for a roller cam. Most of the break in stuff pertains to solid lifter cams. I think the mean deal is about getting some surface hardness into the surface of the cam otherwise they tend to eat up the lobe. With roller eliminating most of the friction, I'm not sure you'll need any excessive break in. Just run it, shut it off, let it set like he shows in the vid. If I'm off on any of this feel free to chime in anyone. Good luck on your build.
