    You also have to worry about if the Dell actually boots with the GPU installed. Old Dells are often very picky about GPUs.

      Ive never had an issue like this the real issue is does that Dell PC use an propriety psu connector.

    • @cracklingice
      @cracklingice 6 лет назад +2

      I've not run into a proprietary PSU connector, just the front panel connector and I bought a front panel connector and figured out what all the wires did and spliced as needed to get it into a regular case. Also the proprietary power button. I had to use the original power button in parallel with the front panel button on my case or the PC wouldn't boot. Oh - and Dell put the SATA connectors right under where the GPU goes so I had to use a right and a left angle cable to get two devices connected.

    Down in New Zealand here and winter is coming. I am looking at building a mining rig as a space heater. My thinking being then the electricity cost are factored out and ROI calcs improve no end :)
    For those that question that, I would have run an electric space heater that in reality would probably draw more power than a rig :)

    I picked up a GTX 1080 for 570 open box, a HP Elite 8200 with an i3, 2gig ram, 250gb disk for 25, a riser for 6.90 and used an extra 4gig ram stick I had gotten for free, and the PSU from my currently dead gaming PC to run the GTX off, so it was ~600 in total. Mining ZEC since beginning of January has brought 0.32ZEC.

    As you pointed out the monitor size is one important limiting factor, unlike consoles which are played usually in the living room and at a distance computer monitors are close to your face and that makes the benefit of a very high resolution less profound. You either have to increase the monitor size and move away to have a better feel of the 4k visual advantage or have a small 4k monitor. And when you put a 1080p monitor side by side you will be wondering why you payed so much more money for the 4k gaming experience and if it is worth the hassle.

    Great work on this video!
    Quick Question: I noticed you didn't mention the RX 570 8GB Cards. Some of them are going for $400-500, and Benchmarks online are putting it very close to a RX 580.
    I have a spare system sitting around that has a Core i3-3240, an H77M-DS3H, 8GB of DDR3-1333, a 250GB HDD, and a EVGA 500B, and am planning to maybe throw in Two RX 570 8GB Cards. I think the RX 570's can perform close to an RX 580, and rake in close to the same profitability as 580's, if not slightly more profitability due to its lower power consumption.
    Again, Appreciate the work you do here. I can forgive the Sketchy Audio, since I know you're in the middle of transitioning back to the United States. Keep up the great work!

    If you buy a µatx motherboard with onboard cpu like the Asrock QC5000 you save on RAM (DDR3), CPU (onboard) and you have 3 PCIe slots (expandable with USB hosts).

  • @djarcforceable

    I got lucky... I decided to get into mining right before the massive price increases on cards so I picked up an RX570 8gb for $260 (New) and a 1080Ti for $750 (New) like a month before the huge price spikes for the 570 and maybe a week before prices spiked for the 1080Ti lol. So I've already paid off the 570 and the 1080Ti is already paid off as well since I could sell it used for more than I paid for it new at this point lol.

    You can mine other coins with ethminer even with VRAM constraints. For example, my R9 380 2GB cant mine Eth because of the DAG size, but mining Pirl is still profitable (about $1 a day currently after electricity) Also, if you wait, you can find good deals. For example, there were some $320 RX 580 4GB on Newegg but by the time you see this comment they'll be gone

  • @paulythedropbear.3969

    I've been considering getting to mining. I currently have the spare parts to make a system based on a 6600k with 8/16/ or even 32 MB of ddr4 2666, and a gtx 960 4GB and and a gtx1070. Plus a platinum 650W, and a gold 650W. But is it even worth it when you include power costs nowdays? I pay about AU 0.26 per KW including GST. You have a lot more experience than me in these matters, what's your opinion?

    ETH works fine on Windows 10. It all depends on motherboard. I use asrock h110 pro. But as far as the profit on xfx 580 8gb, I have 36 of them and it makes between 1,75 and. 1.81 per day if mining ETH. Other coins do vary. You are right on the power supplies. But they are becoming the highest dollar piece of you go name brand. EVGA prices are crazy.

    2 gigabyte gtx 1080 aorus $550

    asus ex b250 v7 motherboard $100 (3 pcie 16 slots and 3 pci slots. (i got 2 1080s on this with no risers.
    windows 10 is free, download it from microsoft and install it on a usb drive. skip the product code. You get windows 10 free with a little reminder on the corner to activate.
    4gb ddr4 ram $60
    before the crash it was making $12-$14, Now its hovering around $6

    Hi @Brett,
    when all the RX470, RX570's 4GB become too small for the DAG file, is that the moment where million 4GB mining cards world wide will stop mining ethereum? and because there a no reasonable priced cards to replace them, wouldn't that be the moment where difficulty drops like the share price of lehman in 2008? :)
    What's your opinion on day x - the day the DAG file will be over 2^32 bytes...

    I need a new computer. I’m looking to build a pc with at least 2 GPU’s to start. I want to play games (fortnite, nothing crazy) sometimes, stream Hulu/Netflix, and mine as profitability as possible full time with 1080ti’s until the new cards come out and I’ll add on possibly.
    Could you do a video on the best, most profitable mining/daily pc for the entry price not counting the GPU price in the build? And maybe best option motherboard if looking to go to multiple cards eventually.

    dude, you can't replace the PSU in an OEM system just like that.. the best you can do is a dual PSU system, but that still needs some dicking around with that half-assed proprietary ATX connector

    • @runescapefan0001
      @runescapefan0001 7 лет назад

      Yes you can. Worst case scenario is the psu doesn't fit inside the case. So cut the case or mount the psu somewhere else

    I've got 2 badass GPUs in mobo combos in the last month. An ad up spending $1000 For a arorus 1080ti is still high but decent ROI

    Buy a cheap desktop from a pawn shop, you can open them up and check them out. I have even seen custom gaming rigs for about 150 or less. You can get a 6 gig 1060 for 300.00 fron nvidia directly may have to wait a week for new stock though.

      I don’t know about that 1060 from Nvidia, I have the notify me for every single video card 1060 and up for month and no stock you have to wait more than week I’ve been waiting 8 weeks not one 1060 1070 or 1080 just Titan xp for 1200 usd

    how to double mine (amd + nvidia), with several different chips (1050,1060,1070 etc) in same rig? coz that is easiest for me (with single 12gpu mb)...

      Run a program that can use both amd & Nvidia at the same time or run one program for each brand
