    We are young
    Wandering the face of the earth
    Wondering what our dreams might be worth
    Learning that we're only immortal
    For a limited time
    Some of the most poignant lyrics NEP wrote IMHO 🤘🏼💯

    Dreamline is one of my favourite live songs, Alex's breakdown and solo is excellent, I have the video of his solo on the Clockwork Angels tour at Manchester in 2013, just brilliant.

    Very good live version. It never ends with Rush. One killer tune after the other.

    They use some vocal backing tracks for this. And a few others later in their career. Alex is singing but when you hear "We are young", it is a backing track along with the actual vocals. Not a big deal though. They can do whatever they want as there is so much going on with the music! The solo section in the live version a bit longer than the album version. I saw the Roll the Bones tour a few times and they even added it back then. And the song Bravado as well from the same album has an incredible instrumental section added to the live version which changed often when they played it. Having fun with some improv.

    This song was used several times as the opening song during the earlier tours. Saw them play this in Columbus in 2007. I think this is the last tour that they played this. It is a great song. Great review as always!

    I love your ATARI t-shirt dude! Rush and Atari, an old-schooler's dynamic duo for passing the time in my youth, and today as well! Like my vintage hard-core audio equipment and my vintage hard-core Rush collection (vintage music, but modern remaster vinyl) I still own and love to play my vintage Atari systems. Though being so busy with life, I have very little down time to enjoy them anymore. Sharing a ten minute Rush reaction with you two is about all I have time for currently.

    Alex's vocal mic is not usually turned up too loud. They use samples of Geddys backing vocals triggered by one of the three depending on the song.

    This is from their Roll The Bones album released in 1991. That tour was the 1st time I saw RUSH, I was 16.

    Usually Alex's mic is turned down or off as others have mentioned. But for La Villa Strangiato on Rush In Rio, Alex goes on a weird rant about Jazz and then 'introduces' the band and is hilarious. He did for all the shows on the tour and never said the same random stuff twice. Too funny!

    Most people don't notice how Geddy is "Chording" on the bass along with playing notes. This was a great song to hear live here in DFW. Alex playing that solo was amazing. Great reaction. keep it up.

    All of Alex's models feature an Access heel joint. a carved out section of the body in that area provides ultimate upper fret access...

    This song in my top 5 of all time favorite Rush songs. The Rush in Rio live version rivals the excellent studio version IMO.

    This was a fantastic concert opener for several tours. It's almost too perfect for that slot the way it starts off kind of mellow and builds up until the synth brass chords get the party started.
    The backing vocals sound like Geddy because they are samples of Geddy's voice from the record. Alex likes to lip-sync in the live shows, but he can't actually sing all that well from what I understand. There's a joke on the "Show of Hands" concert video during La Villa Strangiato where you see Alex shouting into a microphone that isn't turned on and it flashes a graphic saying he's been censored for our protection.
    I don't remember if this was still the Signature on the record (a Canadian Strat clone that went out of business in the 90s) or if Alex had switched to PRS by then, but either way it translates well to his custom Les Paul.

    • @d-no9
      @d-no9 18 дней назад +1

      I heard that Alex's mic is sometimes a "trigger" like Neil's pads or both Alex's and Geddy's pedals. In this song, I'm convinced Alex is triggering Geddy's vocals with his mic. Please, if one has more knowledge than me, correct me if I'm wrong! Doesn't take away, this is in my top 100 Rush songs, absolutely no way I can narrow it down further, cuz they're all fantastic.

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat 17 дней назад

      @@d-no9 Alex is actually singing, but his mic is turned down so low that you can't hear him (and it's even lower in the mixes for the live releases). All the vocals are prerecorded samples triggered by mostly Geddy (pedals or keys), but sometimes Alex (pedals), and maybe Neil at some point (can't remember).
