Saw them 6 times on the R30 tour!! So awesome!! I get choked up every time I think about never seeing them again! My FAV BAND EVER!! Thank you so much for these reactions and for loving them equally!!! You two rock!!!
My fav band also grew up with them my older brother bought the albums I listened lol seen them live 27 times from 1978 to 2015 always a tight band and 3 of the best musicians in the world at their craft .They are from my hometown very proud of them maybe a little bias even. Lil
Met Neil in Cuba NM several years ago. I didn't recognize him until he took off his helmet and put on one one of those beanie hats. I said pardon me but are you Neil Pert? He said yes we visited for a few minutes he was a very kind man
Alex Lifeson mostly gets overlooked due to being paired with absolute titans in Geddy and Neil. I mean those 2 dudes are on Mount Rushmore of their instruments with Neil being maybe even the goat to most. Poor Alex :/
Geddy is easily top 10 bassists in Rock. Neil is at the top with Moon and Bonham. But Alex, in a profession where you have the likes of Page, Hendrix Iommi, Clapton, Gilmour, and even Van Halen you get lost in the shuffle of things. Thats not taking away his ability as a guitarist. He is by far one of the best out there, my personal favourite. But like you said he's sandwiched between Geddy and Neil
Why isn't Alex known as a Guitar God? Because his bandmates are Gods too. Alex just blends in. Put him in any other band and he'd be on the front of every guitar magazine every month.
Eddie Van Halen was once asked how it felt to be the greatest guitar player in the world. He said “ I don’t know. Go ask Alex Lifeson. “ True story. The head editor arvrollingvstonecwas once asked to create the ultimate band from every artist that ever existed. He said he had to disqualify any member of rush because it wasn’t fair to the other artists.
Watching you two go through this amazing discovery of the most talented band ever imo brings me back to day 1 I've been privileged to have seen them 47 times from 77 to 2015 and feel it still was not enough. Great job you two as usual. Love watching the joy on your faces and the sheer enjoyment you both display. Keep up the great reactions!!!
Three guys making all that noise. Three musicians filling all that space. Truly incredible. What other 3 piece band sounds like a 4 or 5 piece band? No one. Long live RUSH!
hell yeah man. Neil is so fun to watch live. god rest his soul, check out every song on the rush in rio show from 2003. They are a little younger on that tour, and imo it’s the best show I’ve ever seen the 3 of them perform in.
Love you guys experiencing rush and watching your reactions, it's priceless !!! You will absolutely love Counterparts album. Is the fan for 43 years Matt Getty Lee's wife and saw them 35 ? 36? X . Out of the 250+ concerts I saw .... they were the best. Because they played at such a high level every single time I saw them." I wish I could live it all again" !!! They are why I have 5000 songs Plus on my playlist today.
The song was inspired by an article in Road and track magazine that describe a future of cars where no one can get hurt in an accident(A mid summer's drive) that Neil had read. The author of the article gets a mention in the liner notes
Eddie VanHalen was Asked(Rumor) How does it feel to be the Beat Guitarist ? Eddie(Rumor) said… I Don’t Know,why don’t u Ask Alex Liffeson(Rush Guitarist)!!!😂👍🤟🤟🤞🏼
@@scottcastro9383 Yeah, you're right. I forgot Alex and Geddy are turning 71 (not 70) soon. So if this was Sept. 24, 2004, it would be after their 51st birthdays that year.
Alex’s is downfall is that he was friends with Geddy and Neil. 😂 Imagine that you’re that good of a guitar player and your other two friends are genius.
As for Alex, in an interview with Eddie Van Halen & Guitar Magazine back in the day: "how does it feel to be the greatest guitar player ever?", he said, "I don't know, ask Alex Lifeson
Thoughts on Alex as underrated guitarist: Alex has no diva in him like so many lead guitarists do. He, Geddy and Neil were great friends and never stepped on each other. As complex and brilliant as their music is, it is quite restrained (from what it could be). Alex had a handful of solos in which he showed off how great he was. Several that stand out to me: The end of Xanadu A couple of pieces of La Villa Strangiato Climactic part of The Garden
You guys should go back to the late 197879 when they did studio videos when they had long hair and robes....I think they made songs from Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres albums --songs were a farewell to kings /closer to the heart....circumstances and the trees
Both Alix and Geddy are underrated. Neil is top 3 of all time. #1 for me. Alex is probably the most underrated of all time. I saw a video of him on 12 strung acoustic guitar. Sounded like 3 or more guitars playing.
Put Alex in any other band, and he'd be acknowledged as a guitar God. With Rush, he's just 1/3 of three Masters. I got to live thorugh and experience Rush since 1975. (Yeah, I'm old.) I doubt there will ever be another band that has such a power line-up like this again. I was blessed to see them live many times.
When Eddie Van Halen was asked what it felt like to be the world's greatest guitar player he replied "I don't know, you should ask Alex Lifeson" - enough said.
I believe that Alex won best All Around rock guitarist a couple times in Guitar Player Magazine (at the time). I agree with those readers in that poll !!! Eddie Van Halen is the Michael Jordan of rock and roll. But Alex Lifeson is the Larry Bird !( Best all around player) ! It depends on you I guess who's the best !? I pick Lifeson over Eddie Van Halen and I pick Larry Bird over Michael Jordan. But I like all around greatness. Not just one or two things like scoring and defense Or solos and being fast. Think about this, ..... Alex has to share the spotlight with probably the best rock bassist of all time & the best rock drummer of all time. I think Alex was the best out of all three. So I label Alex as the GGoat !!!!! (Greatest guitarists of all time) In Rock and roll history.
It seems you always had a love for progressive music but you didn't know :) Rush is old times' Jinjer (except vocals) or you can say Jinjer is like an extreme Rush
One of my favourite yet this version is the worst live version of it. Guys, if you want to see rush perform a specific song live, please take the live show that is closest to the studio release. This song is from moving pictures so you should have watched the Exit stage left (1981) version. Exit stage left covers all albums up to Moving pictures, all songs between moving pictures and Grace under pressure are at their best on the live Grace under pressure tour and all songs from Power windows and Hold your fire are best featured in A show of hands. Songs between Presto and Test for echos are at their best on Different stages and the rest you can choose whatever versions you want from Live in Rio, R30, R40, Time machine. At this point... These shows all have a vocal issue if you ask me. The band can play but the voice is not quite there in my opinion.
This song made me pick up the guitar, now decades ago. And that song has never gotten old. It is also ridiculous fun to play, featuring arguably the best sounding guitar lick Alex ever came up with.
I don't think the world could handle it if three of the greatest musicians in the history of rock were A) from the same band and B) Canadian. Everyone knows the best musicians are either American or British... just ask Rolling Stone magazine. :P LOL
I hate it when you guys don't do your homework on the subject matter before you play these things. I love the fact that you do Rush reactions but do some homework, y'all!
@dmusiclife5727 the song is about the future "before the motor law" as it says in the song when gas powered vehicles had been outlawed. It was Neil's look into the future where everything was electric.

R30 was probably my fave tour. Geddy still had a decent high range and they were tight.
You can always tell when they are having a really good show because Alex starts having fun, he loves wandering over and getting goofy at Geddy.
Met Neil in Cuba NM several years ago. I didn't recognize him until he took off his helmet and put on one one of those beanie hats. I said pardon me but are you Neil Pert? He said yes we visited for a few minutes he was a very kind man

EXACTLY. He's a victim of everyone having 1000 favourite guiarists, and not necessarily drummers or bassists
Geddy is easily top 10 bassists in Rock. Neil is at the top with Moon and Bonham. Absolutely
Alex gets tons of love from his peers though.
Why isn't Alex known as a Guitar God? Because his bandmates are Gods too. Alex just blends in. Put him in any other band and he'd be on the front of every guitar magazine every month.
I went to the R30 tour. Everyone was so pumped when they played Red Barchetta. Geddy & Alex were 51 and Neil was 52. 🏎
The song that spawned many a speeding ticket. If you guys want to know more about Rush, you should watch the Beyond the Lighted Stage documentary.

Hey guys i only saw Rush once (Power Windows Tour) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada! Life long fan!
probably my favorite song by them and i havent heard this version before. thank you for playing it.
Saw the R30 tour 11 times. Was a treat every time
This was my favorite song to see them do live in concert, I saw them nine times from 1981 to 92 in St Louis MO.
Fantastic reaction!
🏎️🚓🚓 One of my favorites! Rush playing this Live is incredible! Anytime Alex does Guitar Harmonics is always magical! 🥰🐰

I really like your Rush reactions. You should check out Rush's opening medley/Spirit of Radio, also known as "Best intro Ever". Truly amazing!
"One little victory" is a great song also. That's the next song. It's off "vapor trails" album.

So fun look at you discovering Rush. 😊
Seen them a couple times but was always a dream
Alex rules too in my humble opinion. They are a trio for the ages.
Thank you for recognizing Alex as a GOaT. He’s so underrated
Nice job folks.
Saw this in Tampa FL 2005 R30 tour. Incredible show!
Great enthusiasm and generally good picks .
What a truly beautiful song.
1979, 13 years old. Spectrum Philadelphia, PA. I was there.
Yeah one thing is true, Alex is underrated. After more than 30 years listening to Rush he is my fave member of the band😊
A symphony of three - the best that will ever be. IMO
Imagine these guys in their 50s three hour shows no Auto Tune ☺️
This was 20 years ago, so they were 49-50 at this time.
Recorded Sept 24, 2004. Geddy and Alex were 51. Neil was 52.

Many Rush fans consider this one of their best songs.
For many long-time Rush fans, including me, Red Barchetta is a top five song in their 19-album oeuvre.
The Barchetta is a classic roadster sports car by Ferrari, this one referring to the classic Ferrari Red color of the model.
Alex and Geddy know each other since grade school
I don't always drive 120 mph but when I do this song is on the radio lol

Neil Peart - hands down the best drummer of all time
It's great live, but they only way this song is better is when you're driving (at speed) on a curvy road. So much fun!
