as much as i love joo and all the other choppers out there(me being a chopper myself)... i really think no chopper stands a chance against XX. he's just too good at reading spins.

It's a hard life choosing to be on the receiving end, rather than dictating the play. The style gets you up to a point, but no further. At the top, it's the attacker that has inherent upper hand because they dictate the play.

Xu Xin ist able to play a few slow spinny and short topspins in a row, so the defender has to stay near to the table. Then suddenly he plays a fast topspin in the body or out of the reach of the opponent. Joo ist trying everything here, even countering with his long pimples. Joos weapon - his fast counterattack and agressive Topspins on slice returns - can´t be seen here. There are less passive balls from XX to attack. Additionally he misses most of these balls.

But, there is one thing that no defender does against him: attacking his slow backhand topspin with pimples. Xu would receive the next ball with heavy backspin, and would have difficulties to counter that. With long pimples it is not about classical defence, nor modern, it is about all-round, attack, defence, chop-blocks, counters. Being long pimple player, I have beaten many attackers like that

Joo was way past his prime in this match but Matsushita was a better chopper to be honest.Xu Xin employed usual tactics.
Waldner was the most spectacular player against choppers he could drive the ball extremely wide and move choppers left and right like yo-yo.

Что тут скажешь... Не позавидуешь тому защитнику, который попал на Су Синя. Он щёлкает защитников как орехи со своей неповторимой техникой топс-удара. Из защитников только китаец Ма Те обыгрывал Су Синя.
