Great vid (3 yrs later still). Glad to see how much the channel has grown. I'd recommend getting lidlox versus using these helmet locks. Keeps your lid off the bike (no scratches on either). These hooks could be used for a cable to run from one side to the other over the top to secure a jacket or something.

I'm considering a newer commuter and keep coming back to the Rebel 1100. The looks alone are sexy a/f just debating if it would be ridiculous for someone that has zero experience riding?🤷♂️
I know this was posted a while ago, but I took a 14 year break from riding and just picked up the 1100 DTC and it is super awesome and easy to get used to. I set mine to rain mode just to make sure I didn't do something stupid and even in that mode this thing is sick. Plenty of room to grow, and it is very easy in rain mode for it to act extremely tame. I think this is a very fine and perfect bike (especially the DTC) for a first bike (AFTER a motorcycle in person riding/training!!! I'm not sure you want your first lesson in how to turn a motorcycle to be on your shinny new 1100, that even in rain mode, will still go pretty damn quick) so you don't feel the itch to upgrade once you get used to riding. I do suggest a motorcycle course/training first, nothing beats using the school's 125/250's in a parking lot to figure out how to turn the bike, stop, etc. Once you pass that course this bike would be a perfect entry into the market. I owned a scooter, a old 79' 800cc bike, and a ninja 250R back in 2008 for reference. I'm blown away at how calm this bike can be, yet, if you roll on it a bit, it just GOES.
I’d say it’s pretty good, although I usually keep the high beam on as long as there’s no oncoming traffic. The low beam is a nice flat line across the road with a distinct cutoff line, whereas the high beam is more of a direct circular beam straight down the middle of the road. If that makes sense.
@@LifeOfBurch totally does. When I had my 2000 vz800 marauder I swapped to a led headlight housing and would generally keep the high beams on all the time. Thank you so much! Paying off my tools and probably grabbing an 1100 in the end of may. Already sat down on one at the dealer. Stay safe out there!
A RISE UP BURRITO!!!!!??????? We get coffee from them weekly!!!! im looking to get into motorcyles and dont know ANYTHING other than i really like the rebel as a starter. any pointers especially things in our area?
Funny that you're aching for Honda to release the passenger seat when the first thing I did when I got mine home I stripped all the passenger gear and its sitting in a box XD.
@@WhitneyKerr I imagine it couldn’t be too terribly difficult, but I’ve never shipped to Canada before. If you’re serious though you can get a shipping quote to Arnold, MD 21012 and let me know a total price! I’d be happy to take it all off your hands.
Correct, you don’t need to hold the throttle in place while cruise control is engaged. But that’s because the cruise control does it for you. When you set cruise control, the throttle holds in the same position, it doesn’t return back to neutral/closed position. So if you want to turn cruise control off, one way to do it is to force the throttle back to a closed position yourself. Does that make sense? Kinda like a car’s cruise control. While cruise control is set, the gas pedal is still pushed down far enough to keep the car at speed, but if you cancel cruise control then the pedal comes all the way back up to the “resting” position.
@@sansfreedom1629 mine doesn't hold the throttle handle, so not sure what he means. Its computer controlled, so the twist goes back to full rest. At resting position, you can slightly push the throttle like rolling it off, which triggers a button that will cancel cruise. If you have cruise on, you can still add throttle to speed up and pass, then let go and it goes back to set speed... it won't cancel unless you purposefully push it up past resting. I accidently turned it off a couple times on bumpy roads though... have to get use to that.
I think it only works with the d-ring closure, but don’t quote me on that. I’ve never used a ratchet closure helmet to even have a visual of if it could work.
It doesn’t come from the factory with one like all the other markets do. They’re offered as an option, but they’re on back order until like July since the bike is still so new and things got delayed.
Thanks! Turns out it’s actually 3 liters anyway 😂 This is why I never try to mention specs in my videos and just stick to, “I pull throttle, bike go fast! I like!” Hahah
I think the DCT 1100 could make a great first bike for you! If I were you, I’d make a user ride mode where power, traction control, and engine braking are the exact same as rain mode, but set the shift points to a 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 3 so that it stays in gear longer. When I rode the DCT I found that rain mode shifted waayyy too soon for my liking. Go check out my video before this one to see my test ride of the DCT!
I got the 1100 DCT for my first, the only thing you really have to watch out for is the gear shifting during turns in rain mode. Just be aware that it happens and you should be able to mitigate it : )
I for one hate the helmut lock under the seat -- entirely too cumbersome and a pretty ridiculous set-up requiring the removal of the seat. All of my previous Hondas ( Fury and CB1300) had a standard exterior helmut lock located next to the ignition switch - when you stop and dismount simply leave your key in and turn the key such that the helmut lock "opens" and you then insert your helmut d- ring -- simple, quick , effective. In an effort to eliminate this silly ass under the seat lock I mounted a helmut lock device on my handle bar -- very simple, easy to use and never have to remove the seat ....simple is way better.

I owned a scooter, a old 79' 800cc bike, and a ninja 250R back in 2008 for reference. I'm blown away at how calm this bike can be, yet, if you roll on it a bit, it just GOES.
I have a quick question as I've used your videos mostly to get really interested in this bike... how is the led headlight at night in low light areas?
Awesome video
Thanks bro! 🙏🏻
Oh reeaaally?!...and are you looking to sell it all? 👀
You should totally donate it to the channel so we can all see the review... 😁
@@LifeOfBurch I wouldn't be opposed to selling it. I don't know how much of a pain it would be me being in Canada and you in the States?
@@WhitneyKerr I imagine it couldn’t be too terribly difficult, but I’ve never shipped to Canada before. If you’re serious though you can get a shipping quote to Arnold, MD 21012 and let me know a total price! I’d be happy to take it all off your hands.
@@LifeOfBurch I'll look into it and let you know.
I see that you have stayed with the stock levers on the 1100, why not the MZS ones like you had on the 500?
They haven’t released levers for the 1100 yet. Once levers are released I’ll be switching over to aftermarket.
Adjustable suspension (front and rear), ABS, throttle by wire and rider modes, LED lights all around, and all that TORQUE!
You said you "roll off throttle" to turn off cruise control. I thought the point of cruise control was to not have to hold the throttle in place?
Correct, you don’t need to hold the throttle in place while cruise control is engaged. But that’s because the cruise control does it for you. When you set cruise control, the throttle holds in the same position, it doesn’t return back to neutral/closed position. So if you want to turn cruise control off, one way to do it is to force the throttle back to a closed position yourself. Does that make sense? Kinda like a car’s cruise control. While cruise control is set, the gas pedal is still pushed down far enough to keep the car at speed, but if you cancel cruise control then the pedal comes all the way back up to the “resting” position.
@@LifeOfBurch Oh that's cool! That's what my brother's guess was. Thanks for the response Burch 👍🏻 I appreciate my friend
@@MissyMalaprop Really? That'd be an interesting design. Is yours an auto or manual?
@@sansfreedom1629 Mine is a DCT, but the throttle and cruise should be the same. It is not a throttle lock, it is an actual cruise control.
Will the helmet lock work with a ratchet type strap 🤔🤔
I think it only works with the d-ring closure, but don’t quote me on that. I’ve never used a ratchet closure helmet to even have a visual of if it could work.
Underseat storage is three litres.
This is true! This is why I’m not a specs guy and never try mentioning them 😂
Oh I like that helmet idea... although it’s pointless for me and my Ruroc... lol meh... great idea though. Smart.
As always brother great video.
Thanks dude! Yea I hadn’t even thought about how the Ruroc doesn’t have this type of closure.
Can u put a tachometer on the rebel?
It has one from the factory!
@@LifeOfBurch really? Even the 300 and 500 models?
Burch!
Can you not get a passenger seat in the US???
It doesn’t come from the factory with one like all the other markets do. They’re offered as an option, but they’re on back order until like July since the bike is still so new and things got delayed.
user mode you can turn off the traction control completely
Big facts. That’s for when it’s fun time 😎
One liter is close to a quart :)
Thanks! Turns out it’s actually 3 liters anyway 😂 This is why I never try to mention specs in my videos and just stick to, “I pull throttle, bike go fast! I like!” Hahah
@@LifeOfBurch 🤣😂
yes...an American quart.
Best guess guys... If in rain mode only... good beginner/ first bike? Have some left hand issues, so clutch can be an issue for me. Thoughts?
DCT all the way, friend. No need to worry about a clutch lever if it doesn't have one, right?
I think the DCT 1100 could make a great first bike for you! If I were you, I’d make a user ride mode where power, traction control, and engine braking are the exact same as rain mode, but set the shift points to a 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 3 so that it stays in gear longer. When I rode the DCT I found that rain mode shifted waayyy too soon for my liking. Go check out my video before this one to see my test ride of the DCT!
I got the 1100 DCT for my first, the only thing you really have to watch out for is the gear shifting during turns in rain mode. Just be aware that it happens and you should be able to mitigate it : )
@@JimmySnakes could you elaborate a little please? I’m not exactly sure what you mean.
@@dannyzolli Grant's comment sums it up perfectly
MY BIKE HAD A LOCK I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT?!?!?!?! DAAAAAAAMN
Hey have you heard about ENGINE HAWK!!?? THEY ROCK!! They are a New motorcycle clothing safety company. There armored jackets are made with the feed back from riders!!! You can't even feel the armor!!! But the jackets are all AA rated and you can wear the jackets anyplace you want with out looking like your a "biker" so look up ENGINE HAWK right Now!!!!!
Why does this feel like an advertisement? 👀😂 But yes, I’ve heard of them. Go check out my two most recent videos- I’m wearing their .50 Cal jacket! 🤘🏻
Wait - THERES A HELMET LOCK?
rider that pretty bike over here to Canada ,lets go get some tacos then drive to honda Canada and lets get you the passenger seat that comes standard with our rebel :P
Hahah I wish!!
I’m 280 pounds 🍰🍔should I buy that motorcycle??
I really like it🥰
C'mon! Range Indicator is best!
Elyss D has a channel she just started with accessories for her Rebel 500. I thinking some parts might be interchangeable. If so, she shows a seat by HRPMOTORS.COM called the Super Comfort Seat that is 1whole seat to include passenger. Check it out. 🤙
Unfortunately not many Rebel 500 parts are interchangeable to the 1100, and I know the seat for sure isn’t. BUT I do already have a new seat on the way! 😬
@@LifeOfBurch right on. I'll be waiting to see it.
Can you drop a link for her channel?

Like clockwork! 🤘🏻
Love that passenger helmet! My helmet is too big but I can’t find one I like to replace it that isn’t $600 😳
BAAACK SEAAAT:((
the 1100 is a sick bike just do not fit me , i test road one and my legs are way too long for this bike , kind of like an elephant riding a peanut lol
Haha well hopefully there will be forward controls soon so it will fit taller riders better! I’ve heard rumors that a company is already developing a kit!
@@LifeOfBurch yeah that's what I am weighting for
