Here’s a tip. -if it’s a one-piece shower/tub insert DO NOT cut out the walls as well. Never would have dreamt in a million years that there would be electrical lines behind the shower, but let me tell you it’s not super fun to find those with a saws all.

Do you have to take out All the tile from the top of the tub to ceiling? Or can you just take out the 1st few rows of subway tiles? I have a partially renovated bathroom, but they kept the old cast iron(or maybe it’s porcelain) tub and it’s very shallow; I’d prefer a deeper tub. Just trying to see if the whole bathroom has to be re-renovated? The floor tiles around the tub were replaced too, so they’d probably have to come out too 😤

@@socksincrocks4421 That's exactly one of the reasons they slipped that in there. The work isn't always done correctly when a home owner does it. And depending on the decisions made around water, electrical, gas, and engineering, there's tons of room to make mistakes. Especially when a person is inexperienced. Are there plenty of folks that can do it right and not be professionals? Absolutely. Are there people who definitely shouldn't be attempting this? Sure! And there are plenty of people in between.
