Good luck to anyone heading out to BMT. It can be stressful & quite a culture shock, but you'll end up making some good friends & great memories. Find what helps get you through the day. Mine was breakfast. Make a pancake/French toast PB&J. Life changing.

Great video! I leave in 55 days, I’m currently running a mile a day, and maxing out on sit ups, push-ups and pull-ups each day, is this enough to be physically ready? My mile time is 7 minutes, thank you!

Hey Sarge, I had a discussion with a few buddies and I'm trying to get as much input as possible especially from NCOs such as yourself. Since a lot of people didn't get a graduation last year (myself included, I was one of the first flights to not have one) have you noticed a lack of morale among the new airmen? I noticed a lot of people will say, "what are they gonna do? Send me home?" It seems like a lot of people don't care about getting discharged or separated.
I wouldn’t need say a lack of morale but it’s def. different since graduation isn’t like how it used to be.. We have to get creative on things but to them this is the norm now
I can only do push-ups with a wide grip (like bench pressing position) and I can’t do military push-ups. Will my push ups be okay at bmt ? Cause that’s my biggest concerns.
Do the mti’s actual know we don’t follow some of the rules like taking peanut butter from the dfac I personally didn’t do this but I’ve heard people did it
One question: do you know if you can get your citizenship on base once you graduate? I’ve heard USCIS can make you a citizen right away. Leaving on March the 30th! I am actually very excited and I’ve been training hard for this. Let’s go!
Not sure why this just popped up in my recommended, but I’d love to be an MTI in the future (currently just an A1C in cdcs so I have a while to go) could you possibly make a video about the job and how to get selected for the DSD?
I’m leaving sometime October 2021 or beyond I started running already because I haven’t ran for years since I graduated high school lol. Any word on graduation I feel like that so Important for family to go maybe just no dorm tours or day out on town but atleast have your parents be there
Hello, I leave for bmt on the 16th of February and I wanted to know if we also have to learn the chain of command and how often are we quizzed on it? A lot of videos just recommend memorizing the ranks, airman’s creed and song but no one talks about the chain of command.
Absolutely! You will need to learn your Squadron specific chain of command and then everything above that.. It all depends on your instructors but you can get asked anything from chain of command to ranks multiple times a day.. and through out the week.
Tech Sgt Santos! It's good to see you in my recommended, what a coincidence. I was in flight 751 across the hall from you, I'm GT like you 😁 Remember the time that Tech Sgt Collins had you come in and smoke us, to make us think he was so mad he couldn't be in there 🤣
since the new guide lines, does everyone still have to go to ROM for 2 weeks before BMT or only those who are vaxed? Also heard rumors that the vax will be mandatory by september
Hello sir. Great video, very helpful. I have a question regarding woman’s hair. I have my head shaved. Would I be able to get my hair cut while in BMT to stay in regulations?
Just graduated bmt a month ago and I had no idea TSgt Santos had a RUclips channel, anybody headed to the 320th don’t mess with sgt santos you’ll definitely regret it 😂
Great video! I ship out in about 10 days so I’ve been using the “Aim High” app for all of my pre BMT needs such as packing list and all memory work that will be needed. But my question for you especially being an MTI is what’s the suggestion on electric trimmers ? It’s included in the packing list and I’m suspected of having pseudofolliculitis so just wanted more information especially with it recently being implemented.
Electric trimmers will only be authorized for those who get an approved shaving waiver do to medically ID'd razor bumps or pseudofolliculitis.. get with your instructor when you get to BMT to get it checked out
@@just.j.c understood. One more question; What’s your experience with recruits who pack their laptop ? I want to pack mine for tech school at Keesler. I’m conflicted because I’m not sure how long it’ll take for TMO to send my things especially since tech school is only around 30 days in length.
How do you get dessert in the chow hall? I hear its in a glass case in the middle of the room and no one dares get it. I assume there is a way or the Air force is just throwing food out as it does not get eaten.
Shipping out May 24th sir. Are all recruits going to ROM or just those that have flights with positive covid test? Also, are we allowed to bring our own books into ROM to keep us busy?
@@just.j.c thank you for responding sir. Last two questions, do we have our phones in ROM ? And do those two weeks of ROM count eat into overall 7.5 weeks of BMT ?

My school is helping me find and AirForce recruiter. Yes, me being scared of BMT is what’s holding me back. May you please help me ? I really want to go after I graduate high school June of 2022. Id really appreciate you helping me and getting me more motivated because it’s half and half now and I feel like I will not go because of my fear of BMT. Never been in ROTC & I keep having this fear that drills, and formations will be hard. I really want to join so anything helps. I hope you have a nice one!
I will say it'll be a challenge but go ahead and step out of your comfort zone and believe in yourself. your Instructors and wingman will push you to be great
Hello SGT Santos! I wanted to ask if the recruits are given chance to give a call or so to their family once they arrive at San Antionio Station to let them know that they arrived safely and give squadron info to receive mails? One of my friend left on Feb 21 morning and he's MIA after that (so, basically I don't have any info write letters or any sort of) . Also, the weekly call is made through their own personal cell phone or the one at the station? Will appreciate your answer.
They will be given a phone call the first couple days to send out their address specific to their dorm.. your friend probably gave that info to his immediate family. And it will be their personal cell
When you arrive to bmt is being at, near, or exactly the weight you should be still important or is there some lenience if you’re a few pounds over and built like an athlete. I’m around 180 but I’m built like an athletic muscular person and look pretty good.
Good question.. if you have an athletic build then you should be fine. The focus is on is usually the underweight or overweight trainees. Just as long as you do well on your PT test you will be good to go
Thank you! I wasn’t clear enough. I’m 5’7 and the weight for my height that I’m supposed to be at is 175 (currently still 180 but muscular) so that’s why I was wondering.
@@chrisbrennan7414 that’s a requirement from the recruiting side.. make weight and once you get here it won’t matter as you’re already here. Just pass your PT tests!

PT yes, look up "Air Force PT Standards" and its by age.. and Honor Ranks? If you mean Honor Grad then no.. only thing that has an age scale is the PT test.
My son got recycled two weeks back for missing one pushup on his final PT test, but passed the other components fine. When you're that close to passing the final PT test I know sometimes they give second chance to retest unless things have drastically changed. Can you give some input?
i’m not sure if you’re still responding to comments, but i’m interested in joining the air force for air traffic control after my senior year of high school, and i was curious what my life would look like after bmt and the 72 day school. the air force website isn’t very informative past that. obviously i’d be stationed places, but i’d love to learn the specifics, if anyone has the time to respond to this i’d appreciate it greatly
@@just.j.c what are things I will need to bring to BMT? For example compressed shorts for under our PT shorts, flip flops for showers, postage stamps etc.
Nothing has to be know but it sure helps a lot and 37 training wing and 737 training wing are the first 2 chains of commands u have to know , I ship out next week
Hello sir, I am currently in the AF DEP , I am waiting for my job and ship date. I was just wondering if trainees brought their laptops with them to BMT to be used once you get to tech school, would MTI's confiscate the laptop, send them back home, or will they be locked away until you leave for tech school? Thank you
Leave the lap top at home.. it will give you less of a headache in BMT for you and your instructor.. have the laptop shipped to you when you get to tech school
I just received my job and ship date. I am leaving May 5th. I’m beyond excited to start the journey. Any advice for an older recruit? I will be 31 when I arrive at BMT.
Be open and try to lead! The younger trainees often follow the older ones if they are willing to help out.. also understand that most of your flight will be young but I’ve hand plenty of 30+ year olds in my flights giving the 18 year olds a run for their money

🇺🇸🇺🇸
That would be cool as hell I did weapons for 6 years as my career field.
One of the best instructors there fasho
What is my element leader doing out of bed in his draws.
Damn I remember you when I was in bmt around may last year 😂 crazy I came across this in my recommended. Absolutely hated tent city
Sounds like a good impression was made? Lol but we did too
Yooo tent city is a throwback 😬... I had to start my first two weeks in tent city back last april
Awesome video! Great job Kuya!
Thank you! 😁
63 days away, LET’S GOOOOO!!!!!! 💯💯💯
24 days away
hurryyyy uppppp
Leaving in July. My recruiter told me when the cameras are off, they throw your bed around, but then it gets easy.
Idk about throwing beds around but a lot happens that you don't see.. all for a purpose though!
Yo I didn’t know i saw this video before I left for BMT and I didn’t even notice!! He was my MTI for a few weeks GO GATORS!!
RGR!
I can only do push-ups with a wide grip (like bench pressing position) and I can’t do military push-ups. Will my push ups be okay at bmt ? Cause that’s my biggest concerns.
Just as long as you break 90! I would work on your form though
Do the mti’s actual know we don’t follow some of the rules like taking peanut butter from the dfac I personally didn’t do this but I’ve heard people did it
Absolutely we do.. I’ve recycled my fair share of trainees who were caught
Is Christmas Exodus still going on? I have BMT Sept 18th and tech school until January 18th
Should be.. you’ll have to verify with your tech school when you get there
One question: do you know if you can get your citizenship on base once you graduate? I’ve heard USCIS can make you a citizen right away. Leaving on March the 30th! I am actually very excited and I’ve been training hard for this. Let’s go!
It has changed, before you could get it on graduation day but now you will have to wait 1 year of service to get it!
How long each day do you PT? And do you get PT tested near the end of BMT? Leaving on June 21st and I’m super excited. Thanks!
6 days a week, 1hr give or take. And absolutely in the 5th week.
@@just.j.c thank you so much!
322TRS. Second to none, come get some, pride, character, EXCELLENCE
Not a bad SQ to be at
Not sure why this just popped up in my recommended, but I’d love to be an MTI in the future (currently just an A1C in cdcs so I have a while to go) could you possibly make a video about the job and how to get selected for the DSD?
Absolutely, it's on my list!
I’m leaving sometime October 2021 or beyond I started running already because I haven’t ran for years since I graduated high school lol. Any word on graduation I feel like that so Important for family to go maybe just no dorm tours or day out on town but atleast have your parents be there
Hoping it’ll come back soon.. it’s all dependent on COVID!
Hey! I'm also leaving Feb 16 haha
Live Sunday to Sunday & Chow to Chow.
💯
Facts!
Tech Sgt Santos! It's good to see you in my recommended, what a coincidence. I was in flight 751 across the hall from you, I'm GT like you 😁 Remember the time that Tech Sgt Collins had you come in and smoke us, to make us think he was so mad he couldn't be in there 🤣
Good times 🔥 hope you are enjoying the AF!
since the new guide lines, does everyone still have to go to ROM for 2 weeks before BMT or only those who are vaxed? Also heard rumors that the vax will be mandatory by september
Everyone will go through ROM in your SQ for the first 2 weeks.
And if the DoD does it.. most likely we will all follow suit
Hello sir. Great video, very helpful.
I have a question regarding woman’s hair.
I have my head shaved.
Would I be able to get my hair cut while in BMT to stay in regulations?
You'll be given the opportunity to get that taken care of
Just graduated bmt a month ago and I had no idea TSgt Santos had a RUclips channel, anybody headed to the 320th don’t mess with sgt santos you’ll definitely regret it 😂
Great video!
Electric trimmers will only be authorized for those who get an approved shaving waiver do to medically ID'd razor bumps or pseudofolliculitis.. get with your instructor when you get to BMT to get it checked out
@@just.j.c understood. One more question;
What’s your experience with recruits who pack their laptop ? I want to pack mine for tech school at Keesler.
I’m conflicted because I’m not sure how long it’ll take for TMO to send my things especially since tech school is only around 30 days in length.
@@KyleStPaul-ne4ut leave your laptop at home and have someone send it at tech school. Will save you and your flight a headache
Interesting. I keep hearing about this airmens creed. Never heard of that. I left in 93. I am a disabled USAF veteran. Show me this creed please.
How do you get dessert in the chow hall? I hear its in a glass case in the middle of the room and no one dares get it. I assume there is a way or the Air force is just throwing food out as it does not get eaten.
You heard right! Just do proper drill on your way there... and you'll be fine..
Shipping out May 24th sir. Are all recruits going to ROM or just those that have flights with positive covid test? Also, are we allowed to bring our own books into ROM to keep us busy?
All flights go into ROM for the first 2 weeks.
And you’ll be training. No need for books
@@just.j.c thank you for responding sir. Last two questions, do we have our phones in ROM ? And do those two weeks of ROM count eat into overall 7.5 weeks of BMT ?
You’ll be training normally so no phones.. just will be restricted to staying within your Squadron..
And yes. It’s business as usual with ROM
When did they start adding push-ups and sit ups to pass? When I was in we just had to pass the mile and a half run with in the time limits.
It’s been there for the last 10+ years!
@@just.j.c well I went to basic the year Reagan was shot. They formed us into formation to let us know. Also I'm old school as I was once a Buck Sgt.
Thanks for sharing this. I have a question, I’m absolutely terrified I get nervous or embarrassed when I speak out loud because I don’t like my voice.
I will say it'll be a challenge but go ahead and step out of your comfort zone and believe in yourself. your Instructors and wingman will push you to be great
I leave May 25! Enthusiastic to get there.
Ayyyy I’ll be seeing you I ship out may 24th
@@jaquanlee6571 bettt bro, I’ll see you. If you got IG follow me: @pierceesterling hmu homie 🤞🏼🤞🏼
How much of the airman song do we have to memorize?
As much as you can.. not required but it’ll help you out
@@just.j.c thank you sir
Sounds like you’re a pretty cool/tough MTI. I leave March 23rd to BMT.
Most are! Good luck
Thanks you sir
ayo same! GL to you brodie, and maybe cya there

@@just.j.c Got it ! Thank you for the info.
Have you ever had the pleasure of meeting TSgt Simmons at all? would be nice to see how my old MTI is doing.
I haven't!
I just graduated basic 3 days ago and TSgt Simmons was my MTI
@@ibuyrice1029 no way!! how was it! man he was a hard ass but he cared for his trainees.
@@mattxtraweek We definitely pushed a lot of Texas lol but yeah he’s real strict and intimidating but he’s also one of the coolest MTIs, just do what you need to and meet the timelines
Am i allowed to workout on my own after required PT at some point ? push ups abs pull ups maybe running or is that not allowed?
You'll be doing PT x6 times a week so plenty of PT.. and have time to do your own PT.. but usually your days will be filled so its all up to you to find that time
@@just.j.c thank you ! i love working out so ill fit it in there.
Do PT graduation and honor ranks have an age scale? Many resources only give a single requirement. I will be 40 at BMT...if I ever get my dates.
So the recycle is giving him the opportunity/time to be able to pass.
If it was just 1.. Sounds like he has a good shot to get it with his new flight
@@just.j.c will they work with him or give him extra PT?
Also, who counts their push-ups and setups for the final PT Test? Peers or somebody else?
i’m not sure if you’re still responding to comments, but i’m interested in joining the air force for air traffic control after my senior year of high school, and i was curious what my life would look like after bmt and the 72 day school. the air force website isn’t very informative past that. obviously i’d be stationed places, but i’d love to learn the specifics, if anyone has the time to respond to this i’d appreciate it greatly
For the air force song would we have to learn the full song or the first verse?
Full song...
@@just.j.c what are things I will need to bring to BMT? For example compressed shorts for under our PT shorts, flip flops for showers, postage stamps etc.
Where do they keep your cell phones during bmt? Do they lock them up somewhere?
Tagged and locked up.
@@just.j.c oh ok, so the mti lock them up and put them away.
Sergeant my dad’s in BMT so tech him to be better person.
What was the process like becoming an MTI? I want to be an MTI at some point. What are the qualifications to get to MTIS? Thanks
say no more, it's on my video list to make!
43 Days Away, extremely ready!
Glad to hear!
april 6th?
How are the updates on in person graduation for parents in July .. our son just started BMT FLT 577 traine Lopez ..
July 22! Next video coming explains the announcement
I ship out to BMT in September. Are rank and chain of command a must to be known before shipping?
Nothing has to be know but it sure helps a lot and 37 training wing and 737 training wing are the first 2 chains of commands u have to know , I ship out next week
737 Training Group...
Its not a must know but def. would HIGHLY recommend it.
@@just.j.c I meant group I was just typing fast and 37 is a wing
Hello sir, I am currently in the AF DEP , I am waiting for my job and ship date. I was just wondering if trainees brought their laptops with them to BMT to be used once you get to tech school, would MTI's confiscate the laptop, send them back home, or will they be locked away until you leave for tech school? Thank you
Leave the lap top at home.. it will give you less of a headache in BMT for you and your instructor.. have the laptop shipped to you when you get to tech school
@@just.j.c Yes sir, thank you sir
I just received my job and ship date. I am leaving May 5th. I’m beyond excited to start the journey. Any advice for an older recruit? I will be 31 when I arrive at BMT.
Be open and try to lead! The younger trainees often follow the older ones if they are willing to help out.. also understand that most of your flight will be young but I’ve hand plenty of 30+ year olds in my flights giving the 18 year olds a run for their money
Lol may 5 is my bday that’s wassup and good luck bro
@@fwayboii May the 5th be with you.
I have real bad fecal body odor . Smell like crap . Will that be an issue at bmt . Like will the people in charge give me a hard time ?
