    Well spoken articulate player, but his voice though! He needs to be a voice over actor. So soothing and calm.

    Seeing this clip, I totally understand how and why Eric Winston became the head of the players' association a couple years after this. Very compassionate, intelligent, and just all around a class act.
    2012 was a really rough year for the Chiefs for many reasons, but everyone was trying their hardest

    I am glad he stood up for his quarterback. He sends a resounding message about the sad state of people's attitude towards others misfortunes. Way to go Eric , it's nice to see an athlete standup for something greater than a game. That's a real man!

    Did yal even watch that game? The fans were DEFINITELY cheering when Cassell got hurt, and thats WHY they were cheering. I sat there and saw it myself. As he got hurt, everyone was cheering loud as mofo. As he was on the ground, they were CHEERING. As he was walking off, they were cheering. I mean, its ridiculous.

    I love Kansas City, but sometimes the media and people disgust me. I never met my grandfather who wrote for the Kansas City Star, but I remember every person at his funeral who told me that he always had something nice to say about the athletes on both teams. Whether they won or lost.

      +Aaron Ray Cassel tried his best in KC. Nobody ever accused him of being lazy or not trying or being a bad teammate. He just didn't have what it took to be a NFL quarterback. Plus, he led us to our last division title. So he's far from the worst QB in team history.

    Winston then just jumps to the conclusion when the fans cheered its because of Cassel getting hurt. When in fact it was the fans reacting to Brady Quinn going into the game. There is a reason Winston has been released by 2 teams in 2 years. He is the type of guy who causes controversy when it is not needed. The fact that he attacked the fans shows the inability to realize you don't bite the hand that feeds you. The Chiefs were already having a horrible season and Winston just made it worse.

  • @IlliasterO

  • @sr3982

    Being a fan of the game doesn't make you a savage. Just because they, according to you, "pay him," it doesn't render the action of "respect" obsolete. Winston is a lot closer to Cassel than you are, and he obviously felt the need to defend him. You have to remember, NFL players are people too, and should be respected as much as everyone else.

    (continued) the crowd always hushs after an injury in EVERY OTHER football injury i have seen ov tv or live. KC didn't hush, KC got louder. You can try defending it all you want but if you have a brain you know better. Funny thing is, Cassel is the fall guy for the COACHING issues in KC anyway. Look how he played for mr. Bill in NE.

    I agree with almost everything he said except...
    as a fan, I put up with the high ticket prices, high parking prices, unreal food and beverage prices, strikes, taxes for new stadiums, and players bitching they're underpaid.
    I don't put up with all this so players can TRY.
    I expect players paid elite salaries to PERFORM at an ELITE level.
    This is certainly not the case concerning Matt Cassel since he not performing anywhere near his salary, but it doesn't entitle a fan to boo any injured player.

  • @BJMcB92
    @BJMcB92 12 лет назад +1

    that's not the right way to deal with that frustration. you don't cheer when someone gets hurt. you boo them when they make a bad play, or cost you the game, or whatever. but you dont cheer when they get fucked up. it's a total lack of class.

  • @TheJray16

  • @PrinceK2007

    Eric Winston is totally right. In the end athletes are humans and getting injured can ruin their health and lives. We also have to remember they have family and kids and friends that care for them and don't want to see them injured. Even though they make millions of dollars it's hard to enjoy those millions if you can barely move your limbs or your out with a concussion and can't perform the everyday tasks normal healthy people can do.

  • @Ultimate23Dragon
    @Ultimate23Dragon 12 лет назад

    I think this dude misunderstood what the fans were cheering for & made everything blow up about it. From the footage I saw, they were cheering the team getting a 1st down, then went silent when they realized someone got hurt. Then they cheered the fact he was able walk away. Take it from a racing fan; When we see drivers crash, most of us tend to freak out due to past events. When we see them walk away, then we cheer the fact that they are ok. If Carl Edwards broke his arm, would I cheer? No.

  • @Killerdoctor27
    @Killerdoctor27 11 лет назад

    Remember it's the fans who make this game possible. So when you attack them publicly it's like you're attacking the fuel that makes the NFL run. Winston is aloud to have his opinions and to speak his mind. But when you attack the people who make the game and your extravagant life possible, you come off as a dissociating fatuous man. I love football and it's an honor to play it as a profession. So it's also important to remember who makes that dream possible..... The fans!!:)

  • @Charlydx21

    It's more sickening that it took a hit to finally sit Castle down. He wasn't getting the job done and the coach kept him in. Just like in Miami when the fans wanted Chad Henne out but Sporano kept him in until he finally got injured and replaced by Matt Moore. Get well soon Castle but Winston doesn't have a point.

    They weren't even looking at Cassel. They were for cheering Jamal Charles' 16 yard first down upfield, and I'll bet many didn't even see Cassell back there. And they didn't have the benefit of the announcers pointing him out. This is a bogus story.

  • @theRealLT2010
    @theRealLT2010 12 лет назад

    most of these comments are ridiculous. Football players know the risk they take when they take the field. While i agree that it was reprehensible for the fans to cheer when Cassel got injured (yes, the fans were cheering because of cassel and not the first down) the KC ownership deserves part of the blame for this happening. They've continually refused to even give Quinn a chance in games that were out of hand to give the fans what they think they want.

    What does Eric Winston know about hard economic times? He gets paid millions to protect his QB, but on both the Texans and Chiefs he has miss blocks that have caused his QB to miss the rest of the season. Then Eric Winston attacks the fans because he cant do his job? The fans were cheering because the Chiefs had not even held a lead until half way through the season. Then Cassel goes down because Winston failed to do his job and the fans cheered when the JumboTron showed Brady Quinn warming up.

    I think any fan would cheer if there was a change made that could inspire hope. Brady Quinn going in was a cheer for hope not a cheer because Cassel was hurt. Then Winston attacks the fans who pay HIM MILLIONS of dollars because the fans cheered when Brady Quinn was stepping into the game. I'm sure Winston was just distracted because he was thinking, "Oh man I missed ANOTHER block that caused my QB to go down!".
