Saurian is still in development after years and it’s really annoying that they haven’t done much. It doesn’t know whether to be an actual game or a playable art piece. I think people should just give up on it especially since the people working on the game don’t care enough about it or it’s supporters. I’m glad we have Prehistoric kingdom to fill the void now. That game was developed by passionate devs who wanted both a game and accuracies and they delivered so far.
Saurian is a passion project made by mostly inexperienced people in their limited free time. Prehistoric kingdom is simply a more professional project and that is why it progresses faster.
Saurian has a lot of potential, it is the single most accurate dinosaur game I know of and I really like that game is about what life was like in the Cretaceous period in the maastrichtian. I see a good future for this game, only that it is taking time to get to that future.
I'm kinda done with saurian at this point, they haven't even updated their t rex to the new chunky featherless version, also there are other games that are starting to follow the accurate dinosaur trend
Once Saurian is out you should totally do a series on it. One who knows a lot about dinosaurs playing a super scientifically accurate dinosaur survival game.
There's currently a vote going on -- only available to people who backed the Kickstarter -- to determine two more dinosaurs that will be made playable for the final version of _Saurian_. Voters are choosing between _Anzu wyliei_ and a large ornithomimid of unknown taxonomic affiliation as the playable omnivore, and _Anatosaurus/Edmontosaurus annectens_, _Denversaurus schlessmani_, and _Ankylosaurus magniventris_ as the new playable large herbivore. The poll closes at the end of the month, and the announcements will probably be made shortly after. Based on the comment sections on the Kickstarter pages, _Anatosaurus_ and _Anzu_ seem to be the most popular choices, but we'll see how the voting turns out.
Somethings being bugging me but, isn't that quetzalcoatlus REALLY small? Unless I missed some recent discovery that said the massive pterosaur was actually only big enough to stare a man in the eyes, I think Saurian might have made an OOPSIE.
Their FAQ states: "Saurian is being initially developed for PC and Mac. The Unity game engine we are using allows for easy transfer to other platforms, and we will pursue Linux and other options once the game is complete." So, if enough people want it they might do it.
+castoroides master I'm worried that console players will not donate because they don't think it will reach the console goal therefore because they don't donate it won't reach the goal
i have been waiting so long for this to come out and i cant wait tel it dose and it keeps on getting better and better its breath taking keep up the good work and guys go support this game
I love how on their kickstarter page they broke down all the costs for their campaign. I mean, who does that?! I've been following these guys for a while. I'm SO proud of them for how far they've come. And they've already gone past their kick starter goal. :D
This is the best Idea I have heard for years. How fantastic would it be if, in the future, we did this for more formations and fauna/flora? For example Lialong, that formation in germany, and even stuff in australia. Thanks so much for raising awareness for this 'game'.
Edmontosaurus regalis and "Edmotosaurus" annectens are separeated by six million years and show significant differences in their skeletal and skin impressions, placing within the same genus is debatable, ater all Brontosaurs was split from Apatosaurus recently and both genera are about as distant anatomically as bothe Edmotsoaurus species.
babehunter1324 Dinosaur genera are over-split as it is. The scientific consensus is that Anatosaurus is a junior synonym of Edmontosaurus, the Saurian devs are the only people stating otherwise.
Appalachiosaurus22 It completelly depends on the way you split Genera, even in modern animals it isn't consistent. Varanus, Carcharhinus and not so long ago genera like Felis and Chamaeleo group a massive array of species in which somteimes the last common acestors between them goes all the way back to the Cretaceous, meanwhile Elephas and Loxodonta are split and so are Equus and Pliohippus or Australopithecus and Homo in spite of having a much more recent divergence point. Don't even make me go on about extant camelids which can interbreed between genus as easily as the species contained within Panthera. If dinosaurs had the same genus-meter as Varanus or Carcharhinus you might as well lump all Morrison Diplodocid within the same Genera, or pull of a Greg S Paul and synomize thinks like Sinoceratops and Rubeolosaurus within Centrosaurus, should we lump Edmontonia and Denversaurus back together after last year split (and for the record, Saurian's team had been using Denversaurus because they were informed in advance about both genera being split apart). I hazard to say that it might not be long until some scientist formally proposses to split both species of Edmontosaurus,
Obviously the whole Genus Species binomial nomenclature is flawed, it is a leftover from the linnaean system after all, but the idea is to make it work as best we can until a new method comes up. The difference between Edmontosaurus regalis and Edmontosaurus annectens is large, but has for a while been deemed not large enough. Obviously we will never know for sure, but prehistoric organisms can't be viewed as "special" or risk confusion. There are very few modern genuses with only one species, yet for some reason that is the norm in paleontology. Maybe we are paying too much attention to the superficial look of the fossils, or maybe not enough. Maybe what we see as two different genuses are the same, and what we think are two morphs of the same species are totally separate. It is very much possible for Anatosaurus/Trachodon/Anatotitan to make a comeback, but until an actual paper pops up I will criticize the Saurian team for their decision to split the two.
TheBigChicken im really rusty on my information so i might be wrong hopefully someone will corect me but im pretty sure the Allosaur was around during the Jurassic.
This had all the makings to be such a great and new dinosaur game experience but it fell flat because the devs simply gave up. No consistent updates or big changes in over 4 years now, and it’s hardly a game at all in its current unchanged state. It’s more like a glorified movie happening in front of you, which we already have plenty of documentaries for.
Actually I think what happened is that someone on the team stole thousands of dollars from the kickstarter so that kinda forcefully stoped the production of the game. I’m pretty sure that’s what happened but that’s just a random memory I have that I heard awhile ago so take that with a grain of salt
@varicosevayness the project is going on, devs didint gave up. I agree on the fact that there hadnt been major updates. Tho they added nesting and triceratops playable. HOPEFULLY we will probably get the trex by idk, 5-6 months.
Cool! I look forward to this game. It looks like this game will give you insights on not only how dinosaurs may have lived but also how the natural world works in terms of surviving to adulthood

I can already tell the initial state will sell well to the public, but the concept is something that can be transferred to any era of time... the fun and knowledge is in the environment, the alien environments that humanity's genetic ancestors walked, not the fact that they're dinosaurs and other such prehistoric fauna alone.
For a sequel they will probably make it about marine life such as the oceans of Kansas in the Western Interior Seaway
OneShogun I want a Cambrian game.. I've been thinking of this for 3 years!
Saurian has reached very far, more than double its goal in only a few days.
I've been supporting this awesome game, Trey. I even came up with the T-Rex main roar sound effect, which is a combination of the T-Rex roars from Dino Crisis and Jurassic Park.
Awesome! :D
*T. rex
I've been following the progress of this game for a while now and it has soooo much potential, I really hope they reach their goal
This aged well
A guy thinks I'm a idiot because I told him raptors had feathers.
Dammit, I'm two years late. This project looks really cool, and I hope the game is finished soon!
we need more people like you Trey, i always love watching your vids when i have the time, keepp it up and i hope to see you in hells creek
Thanks man! Happy you enjoy my vids ;)
your welcome, i may not be as well read with dinosaurs as you are but i love learning about them as i grew up and welcome new discoveries like t-rex having feathers (who will always be my childhood Fav old and new)
Trey the Explainer you are awesome this is my first time commenting on your videos ever since you menchened saurian in your videos I loved saurian and checked out there web site and I loved it and now I know a lot more about it and I am just a kid who loves dinosaurs and feathered T Rex's
Thank you :D and thank you for commenting :)
Happy you love dinosaurs too :D
thank you
around 1:43... was that like a mating dance??!??!?! i want mating dances xD
i dont think so, i think it's a warning display, a male doesnt try to kick the female he's displaying to
***** one was a something else, the second move was a kind of kick. adn wel.. some birds do "show them moves" to female birds. ranging from "dancing" to decorated nests
Crystalitar that kick seriously looked like an attack doh
***** It looked too slow to be an attack :/
Also not every bird thing is the same for the others. One, making the feathers bigger is a theat, while for the other it's the way for mating. either way, i am curious for what it actually is. and at the mention of mating, i do hope there is a mating dance thing
Crystalitar me 2 m8
I think I'm going to buy this game when it comes out, it looks amazing!
If that's what your gonna do, then Might as well use kickstarter. $20 gets you the game.
Can you play it already, is that waht you mean?
no if you give them 20 dollars on kickstarter, you get the game as a bonus.
oh
isn't it 15 dollars?
I would want more Dinos or animals to play as
You are playing as animals, specifically dinosaurs
It would be cool to play a rodent though :P Just to see how long you can go for before getting eaten or stepped on.
+horse14t Hell yeah. Why play a big dinosaur when you can be the underdog who will one day rule the planet? That is the ultimate goal.
They will be adding more dinosaurs after the full release of the game
+Teabag Der Teebeutel then isle is winning that race by a large margin.
In school we were told to find a kickstarter that interested us. I chose this one and holy crap does it look amazing.
AMAZING THIS GUY TAUGHT HIS SELF HOW TO ANIMATE
Urgh, another dino survival game.
*Scientifically accurate dinosaurs.*
Take my money.
Prehistoric kingdoms has inaccurate animals. I prefer Saurian.
@@wetube6513 Which Animals are inaccurate?
@@MAKATOONY The Tyrannosaurus doesn't have full lips and the sauropods' necks are too bendy. That's it.
4 years later, Luckily Saurian is alive, great job TREY The Explainer for supporting this game
Its dead as fuck, its eternally stuck in development hell
This is all I've ever wanted
XD me too!
Ya me to just look how much we grown with knowing what real dinosaur look like :)
The game finally updated... After 2 years
So....will tey add some of these NPCs as playable dinossaurs?because i really wanna play as a mosassaur or a little lizard.
Please don't talk like that, but I hope they do
The Tyrant Lizard I still wanted to play as a lizard.Dang it would be awesome.
+pedro henrique gazon yeah, that would be epic, I didn't even know they existed till recently, and I love it!
I think we need to keep spreading this kinda video about the game, lets get it the support it needs!
I hope they eventually let you play as all of them; may sound dumb, but i really want to!
4 years since this unpaid advertisement and the game is still in pre-alpha. Humm, last update 2018, humm, probably will never be released.
Probably would be doing better if the previous manager didn’t steal company funds…
So apparently the former manager of urvogel games confessed that they had stolen around 75000$ of funding since 2016

OMG I LOVE WALKING WITH DINOSAURS !!!
I have been closely following Saurian for quite a long time, I'm so excited to see it's finally In Kickstarter! * backed *
i already have! i found the game's website two years ago, still awaiting the final production, can't wait!
Somethings being bugging me but, isn't that quetzalcoatlus REALLY small? Unless I missed some recent discovery that said the massive pterosaur was actually only big enough to stare a man in the eyes, I think Saurian might have made an OOPSIE.
P.S. Why is there a sauropod in the concept art bits? Sorry if I sound SUPER anal but I'm kinda in the dark here.
I believe it's the smaller species found in Hell Creek and not the massive monster species
It's still a developing game, so not everything is complete yet
its Quetzalcoatlus sp.
The sauropod got taken out, its old concept art and there has been no sauropod discovered in hell creek.
This game looks awesome, I hope they can complete it
I agree!
5 years later . . .
will this be on ps4 and Xbox one? or is it only pc. no matter what I still support.
Their FAQ states: "Saurian is being initially developed for PC and Mac. The Unity game
engine we are using allows for easy transfer to other platforms, and we
will pursue Linux and other options once the game is complete."
So, if enough people want it they might do it.
if they get 400k they can transport it to consoles.
+castoroides master it's so much though
+castoroides master I'm worried that console players will not donate because they don't think it will reach the console goal therefore because they don't donate it won't reach the goal
+castoroides master 155k $
Bro your work and research is amazing
i have been waiting so long for this to come out and i cant wait tel it dose and it keeps on getting better and better its breath taking keep up the good work and guys go support this game
can't wait for the game saurian will be the coolest game made ever.

They are redesigning the rex to a full-on scaled version.
No they aren't
@@totallynotacop9728 They are/did: sauriangame.squarespace.com/blog/2018/9/20/tyrannosaurus-redesign-2018
Hey Trey how's it going? I saw the trailer the day it came out, I rate the game 10/10.
Me too. I really cannot wait. For Christmas, I want to get permission to download this game in 2017.
Cool.
I want it so much
For what game?
Saurian.
What is with people saying "Anatosaurus" now a days? It is still just an Edmontosaurus.
+Appalachiosaurus22 I like dinosaurs but holy **** that is a lot of writing
Could like a T-Rex fight an allosaurus? Or are the different periods separate?
TheBigChicken Only the Hell Creek formation will be in this game.
TheBigChicken im really rusty on my information so i might be wrong hopefully someone will corect me but im pretty sure the Allosaur was around during the Jurassic.
GeT WrOnG, you are correct! But T Rex was in the Cretaceous!
TheBigChicken yeah i know which means they wouldn't fight in nature
TheBigChicken no. Dude. No. Tyrannosaur was late cretaceous and allosaur was mid to late jurassic

Any thoughts on this?
So baisicly the isle but with less dinosaurs
Pretty much
First I thought it's an The Isle clone. Then I saw the featjers and thought "not bad". Then I saw you could have some gross dino sex and I was convinced this was a good game. And when I saw the Franzl Rex Video i was absolutly hyped.
This game has been in development for over 3 years, AFAIK The Stomping Land was still in development by then. The Isle probably starting development later.

This is incredible. I had a once had a dream of a beautiful game where one could play as dinosaur realistically, growing up and surviving. I thought it would never happen. I'm so excited that might come true.
