Such interactions, with absolutely no mention of politics, are always good in preventing further deterioration, if not improvement, in bilateral relations. 👍👍

The last 15 min were the best!!. They give a completely different reality to the common narratives/myths.
    Thank you Dr Surjit Bhalla🙏

Many lessons for us. First, tinkering wiuld not do. We need to set a direction and clear targets where we want to get to. Second, besides continuity, the govts needs to convince the big business of benefits of the reform process. Third, moving away from import substitution automatically helps agricultural reforms as well. Dr Nadeem, pls organize another similar session on normalizing trade with India.

A lot of credit of India's economic success goes to Manmohan Singh & Mohantek Singh. But as far as Pakistan is concerned, before doing the reforms that India did in 1991, it needs to do the reforms that India did in the 1950s & 60s i.e. the land reforms and tax reforms. Unless Pakistan does that, it's elite capture & economic hardship will continue.

I think one important issue that differentiates Pakistan and India economic progress is that India didn't have anyone to hold their fingers in this journey, but Pakistan's utter reliance on foreign money paralyzed their nervous system. Pakistan always lacked a vision, other than being an Islamic state. This characteristic of Pakistan will be stuck to them for some time.

the Indian bureaucracy is not worse than yours, simple. Just because yours aren't infamous doesn't mean it's any better. you guys really can't distinguish between narrative and data

To suggest a correction to Dr Bhalla. Schooling was neglected in the rural areas. The role of hundreds Kendriya Vidyalayas and CBSE schools to provide a quality stream of students for IITs has been enormous. IITs would not have produced the quality of students without the quality CBSE catchment

I wud give credit to missionaries more than KV et al. KV were and are reserved for govt servants where the KV is opened. Nehru created privileged class and needed 80% of Indians most belong to lower strata or villages .

Shame on surjeet bhalla giving these inputs to the Ps'. His need for recognition seems the only goal, chartering montek into this. Shame.

What is the shame you are talking about? Would india not be interested in listening to the Ps, if the tables were turned.

It's myth that IITs made india what it is & nehru sowed the teeth but reality is India's IT boom was done by tier 2 tier 3 colleges who provide cheap but reasonable good engineers to be it office of world.. all iitians did was to grab ticket to america.. also ypu must not forget unless china indian gdp is 65% consumption driven.. TCS rvenue were overtaken by tata motors this year which suggest global economy is slowing but India's domestic economy is stable althpugh we are growing at 6-7% but we need to grow for atleast 10% thats what modi did during his 12 years in gujarat

Surjit bhalla is just a talker. Unlike Montek Singh he has done notging but writing dumb books. He called demonetisation big bang. Even Modi bhakts belive that was a disastrous for economy.
