Someone commented earlier that the mystery singer Mina Aoe imitates Helen Merrill and this person is absolutely right. Japanese singer Aoe Mina’s greatest hit was “Isezakicho Blues.” I hum that tune every time I walk down that street in Yokohama.
All good singers but different interpretations; for Helen, Jo and Anita, they are kinda relaxed, taking a somewhat playful and seducing approach; for Ella and Sarah, their voices are very focused, you can hear the core of the sound that controls the directions of where to go, yet they have the embellishments for treating their materials no less exciting. Julie is somewhere in between the two groups. I guess that's all about style and individuality, and that's why music is so enjoyable.
Wow! This comparison is really helpful. Clifford Brown is just amazing and outshines Helen Merrill. I’d choose Ella when I’m in an upbeat mood and Anita in a mellow one. The mystery singer is Japanese pop singer Mina Aoe who started as a jazz singer and returned to jazz later. But it’s a tough choice for who’s mellower. Love Jo Stafford
While I absolutely love Helen's and Jo's rendition, I bet that Ella could sing just like any other ladies here, but none could sing like Ella. Only Ella could sing like Ella.

Here, Ella out swings them all; Sarah out bebops them all, even though the recording was not very good with Sarah's voice panned hard left; Helen and Anita out cool jazz the rest; Jo out pops them all. This is not Julie's best, with her voice sounding huskier than in her prime. Mina imitates Helen, but sounds like Helen when Helen was older. I am not going to pick a favorite among Ella, Sarah, Anita, Helen, and Jo since each of their performances suits me depending on what I'm in the mood for. Personally, I would skip these performances by Julie and Mina. Julie has performances of other songs that I really like. This is my first exposure to Mina, so I don't know what she can do with other songs.

「青江三奈」とすでに答えが出ていますが、補足します。アップされている歌唱は、NHK・“BSジャズ喫茶”で’96年5月9日に放送されたものです。バックバンドは高橋達也とジャズ・グルーヴィーズ。青江さんのワン・コーラスの後に高橋達也(ts)さんの間奏が入りますが、放送では高橋さんは「伊勢佐木町ブルース」の有名なイントロの第1小節をコーテーションするんですね～。それを聴いた青江さんがのけぞって喜ぶリアクションがあります。リハではなかったことなのでしょう。しかし残念ながら、アップされている音声ではこの部分がカット（RUclipsの映像でも）されています。BSの影像では青江さんは高橋バンドのバックで実に小気味よくスゥイングし、心から楽しそうにのびのびと歌っています。バックカウンターでは、青江さんのヴォーカルに聴き入っているデュークエイセスの姿もあります。青江さんの名唱の一曲になるかと思います。

いいなぁ。十代の終わり頃からずっと好きな曲でした。聞く前から最後はきっと青江さんか八代さんだと思ってました（笑）。アニタやジュリーロンドンの崩し加減が素敵。

Ella Fitzgerald hands down. They are all very pleasant, but give Ella any song to sing, and she commands it!
So happy that I stumbled on this, so divers and good versions. There is one missing however: Nina Simone (at Newport).

まぁ、ヘレンメリルが圧巻というのが、大多数の意見なのだろうが、エラのは、チックウェッブ時代、スヰングヂヤヅエラからの伝統を感じさせる軽快な歌唱(伴奏にアアテイシヨウ風な、朝日の如くさはやかに のフレイズがフューチャーされているのを聴く事が出来る）は個人的に好きである。最後のミナアオエの歌唱は、東洋人日本人にも立派なヂヤヅの歌唱を為しうるを証明するが如き好唱であると、声を大に主張したいと思えるモノであった。
