Thank you for your mature statement of truth. I personally also find VILLIANS different yet good, and better with repeated listening. Also, their live versions of VILLAINS songs as far as the dozen or so I've seen on RUclips are heavy, layered sonic assaults of debauched dirge the likes of which I've not heard with comparable intensity since Regular John.
Man, i still dig it, just... I dunno, it's like Bronx V. I'll grab it at some point and it's way better than most bands at their best but... not my fav. Just my steez tho, more power to you if you in to it. X
Villains took the best elements from Era Vulgaris, Like Clockwork and something new and made a beautiful baby out of it. It takes some time to get used to it but it's definitely a grower.
okay, i'm an actual dancer in this video and can i just say ... how fucking cool it was to headbang in a cloak on a pentagram painted on the floor of a DTLA church with QOTSA?!?
Gah, you want the old queens? Then dust off a record. This whole albumb pays hommeage to the music that came before so queens could stand on shoulders to be what they were and are. Loving this rebirth of rock n roll. The deaf can't even hear it.
My issue is not that it isn't old queens, my issue is that much of the album is just filler. It doesn't need to be SFTD, that album had three singers, but it flowed extremely well. The new album just doesn't do that, it doesn't flow and it seems like they were just padding shit out for the sake of lengthening the album.

@@Elena-er7zp He drove her away with his years upon years of drink & drug abuse. I used to really like his music, but these lyrics just sound like the selfish & self-obsessed moanings of an addict who doesn't want to people to leave him but also doesn't want to change. He has ruined a lot of relationships with his addictions. During his youth (wrapped up on a whirlwind of fame etc) it might have been more forgiveable, but as a father in his 40s he should have taken more responsibility. Even when he has been violent towards others, there has been very little sense of empathy or personal responsibility. He produced some really good music in the past, but the reality is his life is almost as past its prime as the past stars that he's trying to parody. Elvis screwed up his health & relationships through his addictions & excesses and became wrapped up in a self obsessed little bubble, and look at Homme? Doing the exact same IRL. He won't quite abusing alchohol/drugs for bandmates, for his health, for his wife or his children. Its not cool to watch, just sad (and yes, I do believe his creativity & sound has suffered for it- the music is not as good as it used to be and the band has lost a lot of its coolness).
With all the superficial comments about Josh's looks, I think we need at least one comment that praises the *MUSIC* of QOTSA. In my opinion the whole album is a masterpiece, nothing less. Great lyrics, awesome riffs, outstanding vocals, and a new drummer that kicks ass.
My favorite QOTSA records ranked: #1 Rated R #2 Self-titled debut #3 Songs for the Deaf #4 ...Like Clockwork #5 Era Vulgaris #6 Villians #7 Lullabies to Paralyze Thing is though, the order of this list often alternates. Therein lies to beauty of the Queens catalog: it's hard to compare records because they are all different in some notable way. For instance, I've probably refered to the self-titled debut as my all-time favorite many a time, but I realize that's mostly because I've given it more listens than all the other albums combined. It's replayability doesn't make it their best work, obviously. Upon closer examination, I always have to choose Rated R as their greatest, plainly and simply because it's an almost perfect listening experience from front to back. As for Villians, well... While I could never in good conscience, on any given day, rank it any higher than, say, Era Vulgaris, this is still not to say I can't to some degree love Villians as much as anything else they've done. It might take every hundredth listen or so for it to finally click and start to make sense and sound somewhat awesome lol; that doesn't necessarily make it inferior to classics like Songs for the Deaf. It just takes more intrigue than that kind of record, because it's a different kind of record with a different kind of mood. Any diehard, long time fan ought to be thankful for this. If QOTSA still sounded like Rated R and Songs for the Deaf in 2017... well then, that would kind of goes against the Queens idiom, wouldn't it? If I want something that sounds like the old stuff, if I want lineups that include Dave Grohl, if I need berserker odes to meth and teenage girls with Nick Oliveri on vocals, then that's what the back catalog is there for... Personally, each record effects a different part of the soul and psyche. In that way, you could almost say I love all QOTSA records equally, to the point that ranking them genuinely pains me.
Everyone that says this doesn't sound like the OG QOTSA how many bands stick to the base original sound I mean I love both but to me I see them having more success this way. This sound fits them in my eyes.
Have to say one of my favourite newer queens tracks.. Sick tones, sick writing, you guys have always influenced my playing and the way I write. Love it

Here’s what Josh thinks about your critiques: "It’s our way of paying tribute to Cab Calloway and the film Hellzapoppin’. I fully realize that may be a little more than some are open to, and that’s perfectly fine with me. There’s the door. If some of the more close-minded are gently pruned, that just leaves more room on the dance floor for the open-minded ones to get loose. Actually the song is about Fucking, Josh admitted it openly.

The whole thing is a send-up.
Just when you thought he couldn't possibly become any cooler he breaks the boundaries of coolness itself. classic josh

Paging Dr Mitchell....😎
Damn so much hate on Villains. Yeah it's a little different from what we're used to but this shit is still wicked
You also got 72 likes on this comment; a well renown occultic and kaabalistic number. Nuthin but net, yo. #HommeKeks XD
Villains took the best elements from Era Vulgaris, Like Clockwork and something new and made a beautiful baby out of it. It takes some time to get used to it but it's definitely a grower.
It's a fucking amazing album with great visual and lyrical imagery and themes
You should make more music videos, this was amazing.
Another one of the most amazing videos ever. Queens of the Stone Age. Not much more to say. Like the way you used to do
I’ve never wanted to see Josh Homme dance like that, but I’m glad I did.
Same it was a bit cringy but I like it
I think some of the dance footage is played in reverse, to give it a spooky feel. It's satanic! 😮
okay, i'm an actual dancer in this video and can i just say ... how fucking cool it was to headbang in a cloak on a pentagram painted on the floor of a DTLA church with QOTSA?!?
Tonya Kay shut up really? Omg we were just talking about the dancers how Cool you really kicked ass made that video!!

Favorite music video of all time.
Gah, you want the old queens? Then dust off a record. This whole albumb pays hommeage to the music that came before so queens could stand on shoulders to be what they were and are. Loving this rebirth of rock n roll. The deaf can't even hear it.
You need a saga?
KLON RADIO: INFINITE REPEAT
My issue is not that it isn't old queens, my issue is that much of the album is just filler. It doesn't need to be SFTD, that album had three singers, but it flowed extremely well. The new album just doesn't do that, it doesn't flow and it seems like they were just padding shit out for the sake of lengthening the album.
This is such a queens of the stoneage-filled statement and i respect the hell out of it

Everything he touches is gold
He sold his soul to give us amazing music 🤟🏻
Damn!, I love this song! It has that early rock of the early 60's; a feel that was so raw and pure!
When I first met her she was seventeen
Seventeen
Jump like an arsonist to a perfect match
Burned alive
We run 'til no one could find us
Girl, we outrun everyone
But it doesn't matter now
Just come and love me how
Like the way you used to do
Yeah
Is love mental disease or lucky fever dream?
Fine with either
Gave birth to monsters who will terrorize normalcy, yeah
They'll terrorize
If the world exploded behind us
I never noticed if it done
Let nobody dare confine us
I'll bury anyone who does
But it doesn't matter now
Just come and love me how
Like the way you used to do
Now
The way you used to do
My heart, a ding-a-ling, a puppet on a string
C'est la vie
So lay your hands across my beating heart, love
If the world exploded behind us
I never noticed if it done
Let nobody dare confine us
I'll bury anyone who does
But it doesn't matter now
Just come and love me how
Like the way you used to do
Used to do
Like the way you used to do
Come and love me now
Like the way you used to do
Like the way you used to do

Undeniable swing influence on this song. Not surprising as Josh and the boys in Queens are cherry poppin' daddies.
With all the superficial comments about Josh's looks, I think we need at least one comment that praises the *MUSIC* of QOTSA.
In my opinion the whole album is a masterpiece, nothing less. Great lyrics, awesome riffs, outstanding vocals, and a new drummer that kicks ass.
drumstick74 yeaaaaah
That was Like Clockwork, not this, I mean it's a good album, but that was their best imho :D
+Dávid Lévai
Also a good album, but even among fans there will be discrepancies, I guess... ;) _High fives_
I agree Like Clockwork is probably my fav Queens album.
My favorite QOTSA records ranked:
#1 Rated R
#2 Self-titled debut
#3 Songs for the Deaf
#4 ...Like Clockwork
#5 Era Vulgaris
#6 Villians
#7 Lullabies to Paralyze
Thing is though, the order of this list often alternates.
It’s totally QOTSA.
Please never make another song as catchy as this one again. I've had it stuck in my head for a month straight now. I don't love it like I used to do.

And even then, it’s the people at the TOP that are the corrupt ones. Pretty sure Queens of the Stone Age isn’t in charge of the society we live in today in any way. And oh get this! That’s been the spirit of Queens Of The Stone Age and the space we’ve worked to create from day one.” - Josh Homme
So get outta the way, there’s dancing 🕺 to do
stella_obscurum Josh wakes up one day to see his "gentle prunning" has left him with a colusium full of closeted gay fan boys screaming like girls at an NKOTB reunion tour and his "fans" wearing just as many Taylor Swift T-shirts as QOTSA ones. Enjoy the room you'll have to "dance" in 75,000 seat enormo domes as you watch this mans "transformation". Most people call it selling out. The contrsct signing at the end was very aprepos doncha think? But who cares? Let's dance!
Eric Salt Dude, go smoke some weed or do something to relax. Don’t like them, move on... there’s a lot of underground bands you can go be a fanboy of. Fans are fans, why do i give a solitary fuck what T-shirt a stranger is wearing to a show? I’m not there to make friends or judge others 😂 Im seeing them 2 nights in a row, in a 1100 capacity venue. Both nights sold out in like a minute. Gonna be great. Yeah they play big venues, festivals, good for them. That’s cash money, this is their career and they’re having fun. I think a lot of you forget that this is the music business and it’s definitely a business. Again, no band wants to be crammed in a shit can van to play for 5 die hards...But guess what, no matter what show I go to small or big... there’s still gonna be shitheads there. So what difference does it make other than shitty hollow sound at large venues? Man you’re a bitter curmudgeon. Not a good dancer 🕺 from the sound of it 👌🤘✌️
