The avg starter in mls is a notch above the avg SPL starter. Also Messi is a genius for choosing MLS over SPL. David Beckham has made Half a billion from his MLS career (endorsements and a ridiculously low fixed price for the Miami franchise ownership).

They will have a better league in about 2 years if this continues,my guess is that the MLS has still a little more debt but that wont last for long. The best Saudi clubs will beat the best MLS teams very soon if not already and many Football fans will watch the Saudi League because it has a better time zone to watch at and they know the players. Not many Europeans/Asians will be up at 2AM or 7am to watch an MLS game.
Saudi League does have academies and home-grown talents, lots of them, and I would argue some of them would've had played in Europe easily. The problem is that Saudi teams offers so much money to these players that European teams are not willing to offer. Add to that some restrictions regarding work permits for player with less ranked national teams which makes it very hard for them to go there.
I think in terms players quality, saudi is better than mls, but like other aspects, language, promotional & their marketings is top notch & well intergrated and will better than saudi in less than 5 years from now. thing that needs to change is their ranking system, tournament, points system, they need to take example from fifa, what should & should not.
People are just turning a blind eye because Messi is there, ignoring the fact that only one team it’s hoarding the stars. While ignoring the fact that the Saudi steams has progressed over all at club and international level.
What do you mean? I dont understand why people like you hate a humble player like Messi. Maybe he destroyed your favourite player and humiliated your favourite teams. That's no damn reason to hate the best football player in the world
As a person who has wached both leagues, i can say this. The Saudi Professional League (SPL) is better than MLS even before those new signings. Their top teams have been toying with other AFC (Asian Championships) teams, but actually those top Saudis teams find it hard to beat the teams in the end of the table. Also, the Saudi League have always had young talents from Brazil & South America. Also, the league has more history & rivalry than MLS. With the new signings this year, the SPL will be miles ahead. I can see it getting closer to the Portuguese & Dutch leagues, but this is to be seen.

Here's my take on the MLS vs. Saudi PL: The best players in the Saudi league are better than the best players in the MLS. However, the average level of player in the MLS is better than the average player in the Saudi league. The MLS is continuing to grow and get better every year, and it has become more of a development farm league for players from Central/South America rather than a retirement league. The Saudi league just has a lot of money to throw around, but that doesn't make it better. Looking solely at FIFA ratings, (I know that doesn't 100% paint the picture, but it will give us a decent idea of the overall skill and competition levels of the leagues) the MLS has 23 teams between an OVR of 67-69, 4 teams at 70, and 1 team at 72. The Saudi league has 2 teams at 73, 2 at 71, and then 12 teams between 64-68. Averaging the overall values of the leagues, the MLS average skill rating has an OVR of 68.75, while the Saudi league has an average OVR of 67.31. Attendance-wise, the MLS also beats it out as well. Straight from transfermarkt.us site (reputable stats): Average Saudi League attendance across the 22/23 season: 10,197 per match Average MLS attendance for the '22 season: 20,962 Average MLS attendance for the '23 season: 21,981 Overall, I'd say the MLS is the stronger, healthier, and more competitive league, especially when you factor in youth development, which SA doesn't really have in their leagues.
