      I was sitting at the bridge by the Esses today during qualifying. I was blown away at how fast they shot through there. They barely slow down from the straight before

      that moment when all the senses in your body are telling you to slow down, but you keep stepping hard on the throttle and the car holds up. Although to be fair, all those f1 guys are probably passed that.

    Even with Ferraris advantage in sector 1. Bottas absolutely nailed the 2nd and the 3rd sector. Fantastic lap! Lets hope for good race and battle with the top3 teams tomorrow!

      What adavantage is your fanboy brain hallucinating about? All top teams were pretty close in Sector 1. BS1 of Vettel, Verstappen and Hamilton is 24.6, Leclerc 24.5 and Bottas 24.7. Leclerc probably overheated the tires with his faster pace.

    this is why i love this track, the race may be different enjoyment wise to quali but the fact this track has high speed and low speed corners with long to medium straights means that it doesn’t suit one car it suits multiple

      He's right though, this is the only session where Lewis finished behind Valterri, he screwed up both his laps in Q3 and admitted it was his worst qualifying in a long time. Lewis was quite a bit ahead in FP1, FP2, FP3, Q1 and Q2. Great lap from Valterri but don't pretend Lewis isn't much faster here.

    This is such a demanding and technical track, I love it! Must be so hard to string a perfect lap together.
    And on top of that, one of the few newer circuits that actually produce good racing. I hope F1 keeps coming here for a long time!

      Unpopular opinion: Valtteri has the drive to beat Lewis in the championship battle, but lacks in consistency.
      He performs so good at the times, even outperforms Lewis, but screws up often as well. Also Merc's love relationship with Lewis doesn't help either.

    You don't have to be a lover or hater of the driver on this record... This was ART... When fractions of a second counts.. The view as exceptional as well.. You can see what most would consider 'sliding'... aka.. Managing the grip.. Those are simplified words, but these are by far the greatest road racing drivers you'll ever find.. They make NASCAR look like babies in go karts with a 3-5 hp lawn mower motor..

      Everyone does that there, stewards are ignoring it for that corner for some reason. It's fine for me just bc everyone does it and they don't penalize anyone so nobody gets any advantages as long as it's consistent

      the track limits don't count there because you don't get an advantage from going off the track there.

      Lewis will fight for the win and will easily catch title nr. 6 and you are happy about a meaningless pole. Bottas never had a chance for the title this season. Another weak performance.

    For this qualys, we would need a comparison between Bottas, Vettel, Verstappen, Leclerc (0.1s gap between Bottas and Leclerc, it was very close)

    I just looked up lap records for COTA, this is the absolute track record. Charles Leclerc comes in next at 1:36, then Indy Car at 1:48. Bikes and NASCAR are all over 2 minutes. Same layout. Formula cars are QUICK. Especially on turns. Especially when driven by Bottas.
