K&K Animation Studios I find it funny that they actually DID fix it. Like, when you look at it from a business standpoint, completely redoing the animation had to cost INSANE $$$$$$. If the original design had stuck, there would be no sequel or trilogy for the love action Sonic movie franchise.

Jovanna Flores the old model tried to do realistic and it looked horrible. The new one is a good balance. He technically looks realistic but certain elements (like his eyes and gloves) make him look cartoony. I love it

Even as a furry myself I thought the first design was godawful and I am so glad they changed it. The old design honestly just looks like whoever made it had no prior knowledge of Sonic's real design and was just told to draw an anthropomorphic Hedgehog with red tennis shoes. Whoever did the redesign needs to be praised in one way or another for their magnificent work

The redesign single handedly saved the whole movie. Very glad the didn't deliberately mess up the design like Hollywood are renowned for. As result of actually listening to the fans, it took in a good chunk of cash, and people just like myself will definitely be seeing sonic 2!
I'm very proud of Paramount. I've gotta say, I have never seen ANY company redo almost an ENTIRE MOVIE for the fans. Just what we needed for the first live-action Sonic Movie.
It’s almost funny in a way. So many big Hollywood studios these days reshoot their films and essentially make whole new films in like the last year of production, meanwhile Paramount delays it half a year off JUST to make the design of Sonic correct. That’s quite the commitment.
J Turner SW will always kinda be weird when it comes to the fans. Look at the prequels - that wasn’t well liked but the Clone Wars saved it. And time heal old wounds (tho Episode 1 and 2 are what I considered fascinating unwatchable movies). That being said, Disney take on SW has been messy, and the best thing to come out of it was the Mandalorian, in which is the unofficial start of cleaning it up and listening.
J Turner also I think SW really needed a Kevin Feige type. If Jon Fav and Dave Filoni are going to run the ship from this point on, then that’s good news. They’re good with fans, smart and intuitive.
The really amazing thing is what a cultural phenomenon this was. The fact that the internet revolted to such a high degree that the studio actually CHANGED the design that late in production? That's AMAZING. Let's not let that social phenomenon go unnoted. That's unprecedented customer interaction on a massive scale.
Respect, Making a movie is obviously no easy task, And yet they managed to listen and change up the design drastically, Even the colors slightly and the fur. Took them another year, but they managed. It was a great movie, too!
They listened and acted smart. I mean given the initial strong negative reaction - it was clear that if they continued with the original design - the movie would flop big time, and they would lose major money and reputation, so they couldn't NOT make the changes. It was a calculated decision, they didn't do it out of their altruistic kindness for the audience. Movies are a business. Actor pay and all the budget is an investment to make a profit. So they managed to turn around the tides and the movie was a success.
The fact that paramount actually made a proper cgi film that people spent months of there life making and then the internet bullied them so hard they basically remade the film 😂 im not complaining tho its looks decent

Paramount did the smartest things they usually was very bad at. They did a good balance between realistic and cartoon in the new version. The fur was a good take.
It definitely errs on the cartoony side, but I'd rather have a lovable cartoon than an uncanny freak show.

Even as a furry myself I thought the first design was godawful and I am so glad they changed it. The old design honestly just looks like whoever made it had no prior knowledge of Sonic's real design and was just told to draw an anthropomorphic Hedgehog with red tennis shoes. Whoever did the redesign needs to be praised in one way or another for their magnificent work

The redesign single handedly saved the whole movie. Very glad the didn't deliberately mess up the design like Hollywood are renowned for. As result of actually listening to the fans, it took in a good chunk of cash, and people just like myself will definitely be seeing sonic 2!

I'm very proud of Paramount. I've gotta say, I have never seen ANY company redo almost an ENTIRE MOVIE for the fans. Just what we needed for the first live-action Sonic Movie.

So many big Hollywood studios these days reshoot their films and essentially make whole new films in like the last year of production, meanwhile Paramount delays it half a year off JUST to make the design of Sonic correct. That’s quite the commitment.

J Turner SW will always kinda be weird when it comes to the fans. Look at the prequels - that wasn’t well liked but the Clone Wars saved it. And time heal old wounds (tho Episode 1 and 2 are what I considered fascinating unwatchable movies). That being said, Disney take on SW has been messy, and the best thing to come out of it was the Mandalorian, in which is the unofficial start of cleaning it up and listening.
J Turner also I think SW really needed a Kevin Feige type. If Jon Fav and Dave Filoni are going to run the ship from this point on, then that’s good news. They’re good with fans, smart and intuitive.

They listened and acted smart. I mean given the initial strong negative reaction - it was clear that if they continued with the original design - the movie would flop big time, and they would lose major money and reputation, so they couldn't NOT make the changes. It was a calculated decision, they didn't do it out of their altruistic kindness for the audience. Movies are a business. Actor pay and all the budget is an investment to make a profit. So they managed to turn around the tides and the movie was a success.

The movie would've sucked if they had kept the old design. Movies based on video games are not usually successful, so they really needed to make a good job with this one.
