I remember the first time I tried a carbon copy. I bought one later that week and it's still on my board after a couple years. And now they have this, and MXR is going to take even more of my money

Man thanks for this review!!! My favorite delay has been my carbon copy for a long time. Due to playing with different groups on different stages I’ve been using my flashback for convenience. I’ve been wanting to check out a deluxe ever since I’d heard they were coming out.

That sounds awesome, and the price is good, it's straightforward, and it does pretty much everything I would want. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get this delay. But that flashing tap division light is going to drive me INSANE.

You can never go wrong with a MXR. Also beats paying 400 bucks for a Strymon Timeline.
Apples and oranges... the Timeline is a beast. The amount of features on the Timeline are leaps and bounds beyond anything MXR makes.

@@ernestbuckley8671 I have a Strymon Riverside; however, I bought a carbon copy deluxe because it's my first proper delay pedal and I just want to figure out what kind of delay I like. That being said when it is time to upgrade I'll be going to either a timeline or a deco.

@@drdre4397 the Deco is not really a delay in the same way as the Timeline and Carbon Copy.
Great review! Looking for a pedal that has no tone-suck at all. Sounds like when you flicked the unit on (4:10) some of the highs dropped out. What's your thoughts on how this unit maintains the dry signal?
That is a sick looking guitar, and the CC Deluxe makes my naughty bits tingle.

I picked a CC Deluxe up for $149 used/mint a couple weeks ago and sold the rest of my delays after that... it's really THAT good.

Hey Fluff. I'm getting ready to invest in two notes. I'm torn between the live/studio. I plan on using it more for recording than a live rig, but the studio is a bit more expensive. Should hold out and save up the extra bones for a studio? My recording space doesn't have an iso cab, or a separate room for guitar amps so I am wanting it for a recording solution to do less micing cabs and being able to just record straight into the daw.
Would love to get some advice if you read this!
If you're in the US the Fryette Power Station might be a better option for the money. You can still use the Torpedo WoS on your computer to get the best of both worlds.

Help please .. Need to set myself up with a reverb and delay pedals. Opinions appreciated. Vapor Trail or Mxr carbon copy for delay, Thinking digitech polara for reverb or maybe the 2 in 1 Keeley caverns v2 for both reverb and delay.

I have an old Line6 PodXT Live that I use in my loop just for FX, and I leave delay on all the time to sweeten up the sound (to my ears at least). Would this pedal be overkill for someone that leaves it on all the time? Maybe the mini? I don't know.
This is what I'm looking to do, for the mod tone. The smaller 169 was recommended to me although the extras here make it very attractive.

i owned a Seymour Duncan vapor trail once, but I had to get rid of it because you could actually hear the tempo led light flash through your speakers, if that makes sense. Do you have that problem with this pedal Fluff?
yes I do think that was before I owned voodoo lab power supply. Personally I wouldn't think a battery would have been the issue but i will take your word for it. Makes me wish I didn't sell it so I could test your theory.
I have a Guyatone Flanger, the 80s MIJ, when the battery starts getting low it pulses, I can hear it through the speaker, got a $30 power supply for 10 connections and now I dont have to worry about that anymore.

Damn...watching this video just reinforces how fucking good my dd-500 is at emulating these things. My brain went “this sounds like the analog mode on my dd-500” where my brain used to go “the analog mode on my dd-20 sounds like a carbon copy”. Btw, the dd-20 is still one of my favorite delays as well. I actually have a carbon copy and it’s AMAZING but if you rely on delay to achieve certain sounds reliably, at a moment’s notice, midi switchable boxes like the timeline and the dd-500 are really tough to beat.

I heard that little A7X riff that was drowned down in there. :D I think I will get one of these to pair with my 5150iii. Seems like it can go anywhere from slight delay to dreamland levels and its not too bad for a one time payment of $250-ish.

Good demo. But man, this pedal should have come out like 5 years ago.
Is it just me or the modulation sounds a bit like a chorus?. I have had the mod on all the time in my carbon copy, but I can notice any difference when it's off.
It's more of a vibrato, but that's very similar to chorus, and having the original signal still going while the vibrato going on definitely makes it sound more chorus sounding.

Do you prefer analog or digital? Regardless, the Flashback is digital but can pull off a decent analog sound. If you want a do-it-all delay, go digital.

Supa-Puss, just about the same, but with its own gain and tone knobs to be precise with, that's an owner's biased opinion, i've owned a Carbon Copy, but not simultaneously to compare it to back to back, but all the functions are there +2.

What are your thoughts on the Canyon or Caverns V2? I really want that shimmer sound without getting a big expensive echoplex thing. Kind of like those Periphery almost orchestr-y sounding cleans. I'm new to pedals.

Owned this pedal for 9 months... nothing but frustration. I sold it and purchased the Strymon El Capistan. Of course the Carbon is analog and the Strymon is digital but the Carbon did not inspire me. There are dozens of delay pedals to choose from in 2021 and the Carbon Copy is one of the most underwhelming and its surprising considering its MXR...
To me the delays are way too subtle.
