Javi was actually winning. He switched to Sheik and destroyed Javi. Meta Knight doesn't really destroy Sheik. Leo is very good against Sheiks with MK, but Void also has a lot of Meta Knight practice with Tyrant. So there's really no guarantee that the switch to meta knight would have made the match any more into his favor than using Marth or Cloud.

Leo usually starts with Marth, loses 2 matches, switches to MK and thats it. Besides, dude, that MK is one of the best characters in the world, it is as good as his Marth (in my opinion even better), and he doesnt use it anymore. That doesnt make any sense, if you have such a good tool in your toolshed you have to use it, just because you have a favorite tool that doesnt mean you will always use it in all situations, specially when those tools are meant to be used in different situations.

I'm curious why marth never uses counter when in the air, if there's no risk of being grabbed: especially if it's clear sheik is aiming for a forward or up air. Does the hit stun just not allow it or is it a matter of reaction time?
Naonna Pryderi It is high risk as it can be baited just like an air dodge except it has more endlag and it cancels your momentum so it is easier to hit. Also the reward isnt that high.
The big reason counters suck is that it cancels your aerial momentum. Your opponent is gonna miss the attack you tried to counter because of your sudden change of air speed, and then they'll take the easy punish you set yourself up for.
Naonna Pryderi Usually Counter moves have more risk than they have reward, esp in top level play. So top players rarely use them much at all. Except Witch Time, that one you can use as much as you want tbh.

Nah he's kinda right. I went to a local about half a year ago and it was literally 80% marth and 20% anyone else. Plus for glory has had a lot of marth players recently and I think Mr R is picking him up as a secondary or something.
Well the dog is really predictable if you know the rules, I have know doubt that either player wasn't aware of the dog and I'm very sure the SD was a good play by void jab 2 has nearly no follow ups aside from some risky edge play he could've chosen a much more combo oriented move but for some reason he didn't
ZimmerCoop well the dog was just how the stage is. the players may have been aware of it but it was pretty lucky. but the sd was very good on VoiD. mkleo had been using nair to get back on stage like that and to space him out and VoiD jabbed him right before Leo did the nair and it came after the jab so there was just too much lag to recover

The problem is that leo misses the imput and he used nair instead of fair, nair is really laggy compared to fair, it's not a complete SD, VoiD actually gimped him (you're right), but that nair was a mistake
joel escalera I believe Marth vs sheik is a better matchup - sheik can edgeguard cloud to hell and gimp him really easily with her insane offstage game and needles. Marth is likely a better matchup, and Leo still did great, taking void to game 5 last stock.
