- ■ PERU, CUSCO: Having been to Brazil during the World Cup in 2014 and thus knowing that football in this part of the world mean one hell of a party outside the stadium before the game, hopes were sky high as I broke into my Federal Reserves to secure myself a ticket for the Copa Libertadores final in Lima Between Argentina's River Plate and Brazil's Flamengo. This was essentially like a national team match between Brazil vs. Argentina seeing a Peru's capital was full of people who'd flown in to support their team from two said nations.
There was only one problem. I had to go an pick up the ticket at a designated area before I could make my way to the match. And this little footnote , plus the organizers misinformation about what personal items were allowed into the stadium, pretty much ruined the whole Copa Libertadores final experience for me...
Everyone is singing and chanting for their team ...

The Copa Libertadores final match, usually takes months of preparation, Chile-Santiago has been preparing for this edition for about 11 months, but due to the recent massive protests in that country, it was a last moment decision to change the location for the final match, so all that Chile organized in 11 months, was desperately and successfully achieved by Lima in 11 days. European Football is not even european. Most of the good players are south americans or africans (or are child of a immigrant). European clubs depends on the south american clubs to have players.

That soccer (football) stadium takes 80,000 people and it was packed from one end to the other, it was a very well controlled "chaos". The event was organized within two weeks due to the situation in Chile, it takes a year to organize it.
It was a beautiful video, completely different from everything you have shared before, congratulations for your effort.

To be fair, the Champions League final is just as poorly organised. Speaking as a Liverpool fan, both Kiev and Madrid were horrendous for different reasons. At least here, there seems to be less corporate hospitality, and more tickets for actual fans. That being said, you dealt with all the nonsense like a champ. Very progressive.
I mean he said tickets were 250 dollars each, I can't see many middle class people in Peru affording that...

I’m from Torino Italia and have been to champion league and World Cup. I have never seen anything like your way into the stadium. The pregame is usually so amazing and fun and part of the experience. The ticketing system is to eliminate theft by the food service workers. They can easily pocket the cash if they are handling it.
Despite the ill advice and unfortunate bus ride to the stadium, Harald still managed to salvage a respectable piece of decent vlog. I am satisfied with the footage. Harald still managed to capture the essence of the big game scenario, pre-game and post-game footage. I am sharing this video.
Don't be so mad Harald, The game was supposed to be in Santiago, Chile and they were preparing the game for 11 months. All of a sudden Conmebol decided to change it to Lima with only 11 days left for the match day. It was good enough given the short period of time that Lima had to organized the event.
This is one of my fav vlogs you've done. I've never went to a football game so was amazing to watch
Some things to keep in mind
There were another 3 mega events the same day
Everything was organized in 2 weeks
The rules were to avoid the fights of last year.
They were about 80000 people in the stadium!

The issue is that there was only 11 days to plan the whole thing, it was supposed to be played at Chile, but due to the massive riots they changed it, and so they had to do the best with little time. There are also something around 9 other concerts and stuff going on in the city, including one of the biggest rock concerts in the continent. Good food? gym? Miraflores is for you bro. La Lucha Sanguchera, great pork over there!

It looks like they have a really shitty system must be for safety. I’m from Torino Italia I have seen many champions league and World Cup games and never seen that. Have been in dangerous situations so maybe that system works better I’m not sure. They setting for the game and the was ausenmn!!! Hope you enjoyed it you did a great job of getting close. You got the best footage of the game I have seen from the stands... not bad given you were pissed by the confusion before the game. Organization was not optimal but they did not have much time to prepare. Being from south america myself I think Lima did GOOD - hey, you did get to the stadium on time after all right?. My view is you could feel proud of yourself to be part of that. Remember: Copa Libertadores has absolutely nothing similar (or even close) to Champions League... the mess, confusion, struggle (yes! STRUGGLE of supporters), the rivalries and (very) hard played games are "part of the show" and make this cup an icon obsession to many south american clubs.
Wouldn’t be a proper match day without chaos leading up to the match. Especially in South America!!!

They had to move the final from Santiago due to the rioting, and only had a few weeks to prepare, hence the lack of organisation.
