- Replacing an Alternator in a Lincoln Town car Mercury Grand Marquis
The Alternator in a Town car is in a great place for you to do it yourself.
The tools and time needed is at a minimal. So go for it You can to this.
This is encouraging me (68 year old female) to give it a try! Fixed income and all... What a blessing!
Awesome video. I was changing the alternator on a 2008 Lincoln town car for a a church member of mine. The 3 wire plug was melted into the socket on the alternator and I ended up destroying the plug to get it out. I then realized I had not documented the 3 wire orientation for the replacement plug. Your video showed me the factory harness wire orientation perfectly. Thank you!. The replacement alternator I purchased was over $250 and the replacement harness plug was $40. Anyway, got it fixed. Thanks
Great video, thanks Buddy !!!!
Learning a lot by watching your "I Can Fix That" videos! Your expert explanations help a beginner gain the confidence needed to get the job done right. Thanks
I have a 2007 Town Car. When I got it in 2018, all was good, then the battery icon started coming on after about 50 miles. Had my mechanic check battery and alternator, all good. I checked work history and in 2015 the alternator was replaced. One night at dinner, the guy sitting next to me was a mechanic and we struck up a conversation, I told him my problem. He said that they replaced alt with an after market one and that I needed to change it for a Ford alt. Well, I took it to him, he changed out alt and, voila, no more icon coming on!
Nice job Buddy - I probably would have changed the belt also as an easy inexpensive addition even though your belt looked fine.
Thank you for this great video I'ma do It my self it looks easy 💪
Best video on this, but I would disconnect the negative cable on the battery. I'm going to do mine but just replace the voltage regulator as it's less than $20. If there's no noise in the bearings. We'll see if all the planets are in alignment.
Love your videos, you made that look so easy! May I ask what your milage was when your alternator went on you? Assuming it's stock
