And just a Beautiful Town Car! Mine's a rare Chestnut Brown with my 2004 Crown Victoria LX Sport rims :) A nice upgrade is to replace the air box and tube with a Police Interceptor, it has a bigger snorkle to breath thru... But you have to use the 80mm MAF air sensor, that thingy you needed to unplug!
Good, concise repair video. I ordered a Dorman brand air compressor to replace the defective one on my 2011 Grand Marquis this morning. We'll see how it goes when i get in there to fix mine. I did see another video where they say to jack the rear suspension up to take weight off both back tires, but it appears you had no issue not doing that on yours. Thnaks again!
thank you good sir prolly the best instructional replacement vid i’ve seen inna while my town car is gonna thank you 🙏🏻 i ordered a compressor and the compressor is right but i’ve got a bigger dryer with two outlets 👀
One thing I truly admire about the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Lincoln Town Car is the fact they run forever with the proper maintenance, and the parts are plentiful without costing an arm and three legs! I got to drive one with 550,000+ miles on it and I couldn't tell the difference in operation from my low mileage doll.
Yeah the transmission is piece of shit no matter what your do I know so cuz I built 2 million dollar houses from these 4R 75 transmission they the same as F150 E150 and expedition junk junk junk
First my bags wore out. My son wanted to just replace them with springs. I liked the feel of the air bag suspension, so I had him put on new bags. About a year later, I had problems again. My son wasn't sure if it was the pump or an electrical problem, so he talked me into just letting him replace the bags with springs. I really don't feel that much difference. The difference isn't as much as I thought it would be. I should have just let him put on the springs the first time. Springs are a simpler system. It avoids future problems.
The air suspension on the panthers is such a simple system, there's literally only 3 or 4 inexpensive components that can fail. Beyond me why anyone would change over to coil springs, which are higher spring rate and hence less soft. Wish I had air suspension on my civy Crown Vic, thinking about retrofitting it tbh.
My 2004 air bags dry rotted... so the easiest and cheapest way to fix... Moog Spring kit! Cheaper than the bags and the ride is completely the same smooth ride I had before :) Trust me, you'll be changing them old air bags in a year or so! OH! And left the motor inplace!
Aw shux! Thanks for the insight! My 2004 Lincoln Town Car Ultimate has a mere 22,800+ original miles on the odometer. The car still drives like new. If I ever need to replace the height control compressor I can fix it myself! I love my Town Car. I am 6'2" tall and I need a big car. AND, they don't make a full-size car like this anymore.
The reason you suspend the rear tires is keep from putting pressure on uninflated air bags. Once the compressor fills the bags they're not supposed to deflate, which is the problem I'm having. Thanks for shout out on the 10mm sockets...now I have to find one.
You need to replace the bags too. I’ve been through this on 3 Mark VII’s and one Towncar. There are few things worse than spending all that money on the pump for it to fail in the next year because the bags were leaking just a little bit with every bump. I know it’s expensive to do it all at once, but 2006 is a 17 year old car. It really is at the end of the life for those airbags.
Would that make the car squeak bad? All of a sudden my car is squeaking so bad. Even when I got out I pushing down on the front and it squeaks also. What’s wrong with it? 1999 Lincoln TC
Aye bother, I have no light on the dash, but I always keep hearing the air compressor kick on while I’m driving, I’m not sure if the airbags are leaking or if the compressor is not pumping enough air into the bags please help, or could it be the solenoid
Anyone know where it is on a 1992 Lincoln Town car executive suite under air filter box on mines is a anit lock brake pump trying to find where the air suspension compressor is on my 1992
I have 2 Town Cars right now. A 03 Cartier that was on springs when I bought it 3yrs ago. I have a 03 Executive series we just picked up from an estate sale with 70k original miles with the factory air suspension still in place and working. After having experience with both I’m keeping the newer one on air. It has a firm float to it. I love it. Springs are good but there is the occasional rear axle hop with the springs I’ve never felt that with air. Plus everything to replace the air suspension now is cheaper (500 or less)
Great video but did not need the any music in the back ground. Save yourself work and dont add music. Want to hear what U R saying not having to fight the music with your voice.
I also have a 1993 Lincoln MARK VIII with an operating air suspension. Is that compressor as easy to swap out as this car? As long as it is working I am not going to bother it. Everything works on the car including the A/C. I am keeping it mainly as a show car and am restoring it back to new which won't be hard at all she's already gorgeous.
Just received a beautiful 00 Lincoln from my grandfather. Thanks for this video
That's awesome!
Replaced air compressor on my towncar purely based on this video. Thanks a ton for your help!

Dude. After watching this video I think I’m gonna try it myself! My mechanic wants $700 to do this!!!
You can do it

That is good to know that you do not notice a difference in the ride with springs. Thanks for the input

I loved the air ride on my old mark vii LSC, those airbags tho, never got around to a shock conversion from the firebirds.

Man you saved me a ton of money.. Very Helpful video.......
Glad I could help
Beautiful car.......amazing. Thinking about getting one!
Thank you, I have to do mine .again thank you
great video! Just saw this post. Hope to see more videos on diy on Lincoln town cars. Btw what Jack was that, it’s pretty strong to hold a 4 ton car.
That holes that you can connect it to the pump and put it on the front part of the car What is that little hose for
What did you do to temporary lift your suspension??
Is this the same for a 2009 Lincoln town car I’ve been hearing a noise with my front end and now my back tires are in my wheel well
Very well shot video!
where did you buy your knock off?

Your comments make no sense, can you hear yourself?

I understood his comment perfectly. So…can you hear yourself??

You are right. ---I did replace both rubber air bags --- I wish I would have made a vid.
We added Coil springs! And removed the air bags. Best move ever.
@@captainamericaamerica8090why is that the best move

How can you diagnose if it’s the pump or the bags that are faulty? Woke up and my towncar is on the ground
Way to go my man. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks 👍
No don't listen to the other guy the music is a good touch I was enjoying it the whole time and also I could hear you just fine. 🤙

Haha. “Well, if it can’t be removed, then it’s not supposed to be.” Words of wisdom.
Great video great knowledge.📡🇺🇸👽
How much was the Motor???
Also not a bad idea to replace the solenoids back at the air bags at the same time. Not 100% necessary, but they'll eventually die on you as well.

I need to do that yo my 2005 Lincoln.
Never was a fan of air suspension. Coils and shocks I'm ok with. I hope Lincoln in these body style years offered as a choice.
Tom thanks for the input. Air suspension definitely has it's pros and cons

I own a 2005 black on black.
you can fix almost anything on that car but not today's cars
I would have tested it before bolting everything down.

I dunno, I kinda liked the music
Those are nuts, not bolts.
Now you know why no one invites you to parties.
Please stop making this videos, I want to get one for years, but people keep asking for more money because all this videos you guys keep doing.😤😤😤

Nothing --- but I would not move it once you start the job.
