But I feel that because some of these clips were from when he was pretty young (like his early days on DDU), it makes sense that his answers would change throughout the years. He stayed pretty consistent in some areas but I feel he's def gotten less superficial as he got older.

He has said many times that he won't tell the media anything. His answers always change. Personally, as an older person myself, I had an ideal type, then a person who didn't match any of what I thought was 'ideal' came around and I married him. People who have an un-flinching standard are going to be disappointed. No one is perfect and tastes change. I think Yibo has been exposed to so many overwhelming aspects of women though the years and has witnessed them making him uncomfortable with their aggressive actions and flirting in droves even during his works that of course he is going to change his ideas and his thoughts. None of this mean a thing in the real world.
I personally think he _used to_ have an ideal type image back then, but not anymore. Now he really seems more alike the type who cares the most about the feeling and vibes he gets from his partner and the personality (and no race, gender, fame, visual features matters for him imo, just what he sense, and he is so bold about it) hence I really can imagine him dating with anyone (Though I kinda feel still the older ones have a stronger impact on him.) and my goodness, Yibo as a boyfriend sets the bar way up high, the absolute standard. the reason why most of the fandom is single to bones. lol
I agree! I feel like he has matured a lot in the last year or so, and has become less superficial. Even though he has a specific type and certain standards, he seems to focus so much more on the chemistry and personality than just cute and pretty exterior

oh i agree. I feel like at a younger age we tend to focus more on certain aspects (especially looks) but the older you get, the more it becomes about finding a compatible one rather than an ideal one.
100% agree. I think he cares a lot more about personality and character now than he does about the superficial external looks. That just comes with age and he's now more mature and can tell that lots of things are important and ideal types don't really matter when you meet the right person anyway because often they're not your exact ideal type but they're still the right person for you

I think it would be interesting to arrange these in chronological order to see how his answers changed over time. Either way I think that he's really a person who doesn't just judge others based off their looks. He's even said that about himself, that he wants others to judge him by his talents and not think that he's "just a pretty face." We've all seen how blatantly honest he is in interviews and he doesn't seem like the superficial type at all. He'll be straightforward about how he feels about people. (Haha this reminds me of Taehyung's vibe check.)
When celebrities get asked these "ideal type" questions, I may be wrong but I think the interviewers are referring specifically to physical traits, so they have no choice but to answer in that way. (Personally I don't like this focus on physical appearance, but the celebrities themselves have to answer something and we can't blame them for thinking some people are more attractive than others; that's just natural and they're just being honest. But at the same time it can lead to lower self-confidence in people who don't meet that ideal.)
But anyway we can also see that Yibo doesn't seem to care about a lot of the physical stuff or can go either way. Like a lot of people are saying in the comments, I feel like he has tendencies to think certain people are attractive, but when it comes down to actually finding a romantic partner, he'll look more at the person's personality and what kind of feeling he gets from them, etc. That's just my guess and interpretation but at the end of the day it's his choice and even if he remains single that's fine too. 💚

My goodness is he cute for describing his ideal girl. As someone who is so mature for his age I can actually see why he is the type to date older women. Most women older than him have careers, dependable and will understand you if you are busy. There will always be exceptions but more often than not it is the case. Being practically raised by his Uniq hyungs he is used to being taken cared of and that is what most women in their mid 20s to 30s do especially in Asia where women are expected to be homemakers on top of their careers. What I get from this is he wants a companion who he can learn from and grow with.
