Nonetheless, both the Tupolev and the Concorde were extremely deafening when they take off. Not only that, they generate sonic booms once they reach the speed of sound. There's a very good reason why the Concorde, in particular, never served Los Angeles, San Francisco,........., only New York.

The Tu 144 could actually go faster and carry more passangers than the concorde but it was mainly faster because in supersonic flight it could not turn off its afterburners to keep supersonic speeds like the concorde could.

They exceeded airframe's stress limit because of a stupid maneuver in an attempt to make a bigger impression than concorde. That's what actually happened.

@@Leha__777 I saw the clip of the 1973 air show vs Concorde. Those TU-144 display pilots were IDIOTS! It's a miracle they didn't stall it during the steep takeoff. You do NOT fly a long-body aircraft like a fighter jet! The Concorde crew knew their plane's limits and didn't force it. One must wonder what THEY were thinking when they saw that tragedy happen.

Die Designbüros der Concorde und TU144 haben tatsächlich teilweise offen zusammengearbeitet, wobei diese Zusammenarbeit nicht mehr propagiert wurde, nachdem eine TU144 bei einer Luftfahrtmesse abgestürzt war, weil die TU144 als „concordisch“ galt und die Concorde durch den Absturz der Tupolev nicht in ein schlechtes Licht gerückt werden sollte😂👍

i guess it looks cooler on the outside and maybe attracts more people to the museum. I have been there around 15 years ago as a child many times and i was also there around 5 years ago the last time. they have slides there that you can ride to get down

144 is actually bigger in every aspect. The 144 was also faster than the Concorde. If I'm right the one at that museum is of the 144D. 144S is just a 144D but with afterburners.
One big efficiency difference between Concorde and the TU-144 is that Concorde didn't need to continuously use the afterburners to maintain mach 2 cruising speed while the TU-144 had to always use the afterburners to maintain supersonic cruise
Meanwhile you don't realize 2 variants exist with one being capable of supersonic cruise.

The first test flight took place on December 31, 1968, which became the first supersonic passenger aircraft in the world (British -French "Concord" made the first test flight on March 2, 1969).

Notice fact, Nikita Chruscov and Charles de Gaule concluded a contract about technological cooperation. Soviet specialist were invited to Toulouse. This time soviets had bomber Suchoj T-4 looked very similar like TU-144 before Concorde was buildt. So no fake :D :D

@@sc1338 Parts of designs MIGHT have been stolen, but it's unclear how much. A lot of it was simultaneous development. Regardless, the Soviets cut corners to get the TU-144 in the air the same time as Concorde, and thus the plane had serious design flaws (which later proved disastrous). I wouldn't fly on it for a million dollars.

Actually the TU-144 is faster than the Concorde by Mach .24
Tu-144 top speed was 2,587 kmph. 2,405 kmph was it's cruising speed. ~Guiness World Records.

Tupolev has to run with afterburners continuously to maintain supersonic flight. Concorde uses them on takeoff and to break the sound barrier, once supersonic Concorde could turn off the afterburners
Yeah the T-U (pronounced Tee-You) 144 was actually much faster than the Concorde. The engines produced 6000 more pounds of thrust each than those limey engines☺. The TU-144 could actually reach speeds just above 1400 mph but, due to the Soviet spies not being able to steal the plans for the inlet doors, the plane could not sustain supersonic speed without using afterburner full time. The Concorde could "supercruise" without using afterburner. Afterburner was used to go above Mach one and then switched off. Have to give it to the Brits and the darn Frenchies, they solved that problem beautifully!

You have to know that the tu-144 just lacks the maturity. Of course this is clear if you simply take over the other's plans, but you have to know that neither the Tu-144 nor the Concorde are economical.
