The END of The Cartoon Network Building

- Опубликовано: 9 фев 2023
- The Cartoon Network Studios building in Burbank, California is about to be used by another company. For decades, the people working here helped contribute to some of TV animation's biggest shows - ranging from Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa, The Amazing World of Gumball, and more - but now it's time to move on.
Cartoon Network Studios is gradually moving out of their iconic building due to the merger with Warner Bros. Animation. The corporate merger of Warner Bros. Discovery made things even more complicated, which means that the current state of Cartoon Network is the worst it's been in years. Where will all the staff go when this building is eventually converted into another business headquarters?

Saying goodbye to the childhood memories that building's caused has to be the hardest part of this
Yeah its really sad
FAX
Yeah 😢.
So your childhood was the building or the cartoons made from the building 💀
This wasn't the first WB animation studio that actually close down.
The original Warner Bros Cartoons studio also closed down in 1969. And I already wish that studio didn't close down...
(Yes. There's Hanna Barbera, but that was understandable. Since one of the legends already died...)
Someone start a petition to turn this building into a museum.
Please. It's for the best.
Or maybe one to keep the building the true CN studio it always should've been, though tragically unlikely.
Indeed.
Yeah

I know right. And things had gotten down hill with Warner bros since they lost their Looney tunes license and had to remove most of the cartoons on HBO max. I found that hard to believe cause Warner bros owns Looney Tunes, they made Looney Tunes along side with Hanna Barbera productions back when it was alive and before Cartoon Network replaced it. Even though Looney Tunes is dying, it was the best of my childhood. My favorite actors for Bug Bunny was Mel Blanc and the current one. Mel’s screams were hilarious 😆. I especially loved the Looney Tunes show, Baby Looney Tunes, space jam, looney tunes back in action, the new looney tunes cartoons and that movie where Tweety went around the world in 80 days.

The fact that those walls could get painted over just hurts to think about. Also, what about any physical items left behind? Are they being moved to the new building or will they be sold off?
When the (Muslim) Ottoman Turks conquered the Roman Empire in 1453, the Orthodox Christianity artworks, frescoes and mosaics of the churches and cathedrals -such as the famous Hagia Sophia in Istambul- were covered in plaster and painted over, because Islam is like strictly against all that stuff.
Recent discoveries caused by these walls literally cracking and falling apart have revealed all that original Greek Christian artwork is _intact_ underneath that plaster in those now museums and mosques, and in even better shape than those of churches in other regions, such as the Sixtine Chapel - turns out, the being covered in plaster and hidden from the world protected them from all the bad stuff, such as body heat (what destroyed the Lascaux cavern in France, for instance, and is also the major force destroying frescoes in Milan, Florence and Rome), humidity, fire, or even vandalism.
What I mean by all this is...
Maybe the CN artwork will get painted over after the building is sold. Maybe it'll even get plastered over and covered with new stuff. But deep down, the original artworks will still remain intact, just waiting for someone to crack the wall open to reveal them
That is, unless the building gets demolished - which, let's PRAY it won't-
*I hope I didn't just jinx it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯*
I hope the physical items will just be moved to the new building because the thought of the walls of the original studio being painted over is too much for me to bear.
Luckily, I’m going on vacation to Burbank in 5 days, I’m gonna take as many pics as I can to persevere this glorious piece of animation history.

I'm really hoping they stay in Burbank with Warner Bros., I've been spending a lot of time trying to focus on getting a job with CN and looking for places to live in the Valley so this would completely throw off ALL of my plans

We live in a dark timeline.
I remember a time where JG the creator or Regular Show did a review and I believe it was with Hot Topic with video of his office and around the building. This makes me sad as I always wanted to go there to meet the people and all of the amazing art in the staircase. RIP my childhood
as someone who lives like couple blocks down from the cn building its sad to see it go. I knew a butt load of ppl who worked there and i always loved seeing it while walking downtown. this building is a part of my childhood and its sad to see it go, salute CN bulidings.
It's going to be so satisfying to watch Discovery + crumble to the ground.

Who knows... maybe someone will record a tour of the studios the day before it officially closes. Also, this makes me worried about the powerpuff girls remake coming soon.
That stairwell needs to be preserved in a museum or something bc that is a literal piece of art right there!!!!
RIP CN Building. Thanks for the countless memories and cartoons you’ve provided your audience. You’ll be missed.

See, this is another reason we need to make more Kids TV networks. The main three channels we have right now aren't as great as they used to be. And they're slowly dying (in a way). You might think that it could be the end, but I believe that this is a whole new beginning. With these channels fading away, it goes to show that no matter how big they are, they can't truly last forever. we have a chance to start a new. We can expand Kids Media and make it grow bigger and better than before. So let these channels die in peace, it's time for a new generation to begin!
I know it won't be easy, but we have to try.
It's sad. Another reason to support indie animation like Murder Drones and Boxtown without corporations meddling.
I'm blaming both Christina Miller (the one who turned Cartoon Network into a dumping ground for Toddler Titans) and David Zaslav (the one who's trying to turn Warner Bros. into a home of low-budget reality TV) for the fall of Cartoon Network.
Yea, but there were still good shows when Miller was around, she tried to change CN to a more childish one, but CN still had a small amount of a good personality
Zaslav, on the other hand, is trying to turn CN into a whole diffrent thing and wipe the rest of its good personality
This goes to show, Warner Bro discovery can’t keep surprising us😔. People was in disbelief ever since WB announced they were shutting it down for the past few months. If this was the case, I would be just lost with words. The CN building literally had so much history since 1994, I remember being 8 yrs old walking by and seeing the checker board on top of the building like it was my first time. I seriously hope that they don’t change the branding that makes it stay alive. It sucks that ever since 2020, things have been a struggle for animation properties within streaming services and by the corporation.
"OH! that was horrible, your wish is horrible... YOU'RE HORRIBLE! Your a irredeemable monster!"
Goodbye cartoon network building thank you for everything and every good memory
Rest in peace ❤
I used to see those buildings every time I filmed at nearby Burbank Fire Station 11, it’s gonna be depressing not seeing the CN logos anymore
I hope whoever buys this building can preserve the items in the building like placing a wallpaper over the stairwells so if you were to tear down the wallpaper, all of the drawings would be in-tact. They should also take down the signs carefully and ship the letters to the new building.
Rest in peace cartoonetwork you will be missed…but we’ve come to the end of the road!…😭😭😭😭
2022 is over. I thought 2023 was going to be a fresh start, the year that things start getting better, but boy was I wrong. Things have gotten much worse, but this might be the worst thing so far. This building’s days of providing us with funny, moving and memorable cartoons, like it has been since the 90s are coming to an end. This is the final straw. This is when I finally speak for thousands of creative, funny and talented artists. I have been waiting to utter these words for a while now, but have waited for the perfect chance: We don’t have to take this.
No longer shall we just sit around and watch as the world of animation goes down in flames. No longer shall we sit back and watch big corporate networks rob hundreds upon thousands of talented animators, writers and creators of their creative control. No longer shall we relax as the cartoons that are well thought out, beautifully animated and have lovable characters be taken away, breaking the hearts of everybody and the ones that are poorly thought out, poorly animated and are hated by many thrive.
I am currently studying the art of animation and my mission is to do something big. I plan to start the animation Renaissance, something that has only been done once and has been thought to never have been done again. It’s times like this when must all come together and put an end to the dark days of animation and make cartoons great again!
They will get a new one.
And they will stay in Burbank.
@J Mac Hero, I know that, but this is the building that brought us so many classic cartoons that are still fondly remember by millions today. This studio has been around since the earliest days of the network. Of course, it’s not the end of Cartoon Network, though it feels like it is. Like you said, there is a new studio, but let’s face it, it won’t be the same.
@@bankerwahlert Okay, but do you think it’s better if they’re headquarters be in another location in the studio lot in Burbank?
@J Mac Hero, I mean at least the new studio isn’t too far from the old one.
I learned that before the building was home to Cartoon Network Studios in the 1990s, it was one of the offices for the Pacific Bell phone company (Pacific Bell was later acquired by SBC Communications, who later merged with AT&T. Ironically, Warner Media was briefly owned by AT&T before being sold to the owners of The Discovery Channel.).
Cartoon Network was an part of my childhood and im actually sad to see that it’s dying because of all of those bad cartoons and drama it’s literally happening the same thing to Disney channels…
