Thank you for the video. I tried to join the discord but it says the invite is no longer valid. I am hoping you might be able to help me with an error I am getting when I go to log into the remote desktop. I keep getting the Connection Log dialog box saying "Login failed for display 0" Any idea what I might have done wrong? Thanks.
Quick update for anyone else having this problem... Originally I was trying to log in as the root user. It did not like that, so I created a new user like the video shows and was able to log in as that user. For some reason it will not let me login as the Amazon default user (with or without a password, I tried both).
getting this following error:- any help appriciate The following packages have unmet dependencies: ubuntu-release-upgrader-gtk : Depends: ubuntu-release-upgrader-core (= 1:22.04.10) but 1:22.04.11 is to be installed Depends: python3-distupgrade (= 1:22.04.10) but 1:22.04.11 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Thanks for sharing. your approach to this Ubuntu GUI is much simple and strait forward, i prefer your approach. But sir, what if I prefer to use VNC instead of RDC, what command lines do I need to replace the 3 middle xrdp lines to make this work-out? Also is xUbuntu same or similar to as Ubuntu Jellyfish?
There is few reasons you can have that: 1) Your internet is slow 2) Did you turn the resolution down? 3) Did you get a machine with 8gb or more ram? And also a decent cpu?
RDP is meant to connect to another Windows computer. Connecting to a Linux is more of a hack, hence the latency, regardless of the EC2 instance sizing.
Thanks. I've setup everything like yours, but when I login using remote desktop server, it is automatically closed. The password and username is correct, but I'm not sure why after I login, it will closed automatically after 1 second.
yep Amazon is not as nice as you might think they are. They'll give you 1 gig of memory for free, it's impossible to run anything with a GUI unless you upgrade. Dead slow. Your tutorial is absolutely great man thanks for the effort, but trust me guys I'm on fiber with a big machine and it's just not even zombie slow it is dead like really.. it's unusable.
Guys i took a 4GB machine and i closed the console in the background . The one that you used to install all the packages. Now the remote desktop is fast enough.

Thank you! Clear, easy to follow and to the point... Got the desktop up and running on the first try!

I am not sure, I haven't used VNC before
thank sir,
but desktop icons disappear after few seconds, how ca I fix that?
After what action do they disappear, do you for example set the server to hibernation before that?
Thank you !
hi i made 60Gb still virtual machine is super slow, any ideas to solve this ? i even Download xubuntu-desktop instead can you help ????

Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good sir!
How much does this cost for about 25 hours a week?
How do you "pause" the VM while you sleep and restart it in the morning?

Yes, correct 👍
very good
My rdp is slow and lags. I have also increased the Ram to 4gb. Do uou know what could be wrong ?
RDP is not designed for xrdp, but rather tuned to connect to another Windows machine. Getting larger EC2 instance will not make it any faster.
Exactly

Check the video again, I mention this issue and how to fix it

With the free version, I agree there isn’t much you can do, but I have used bigger VM’s and it’s running okay, not very smooth but it’s usable.
@@MichaelKitas Still molasses slow on ec2 r5a.large It's not the instance, but rather RDP itself that's not tuned for this app.

GUI is too slow but working
Yea, it depends also on the VM resources
@@MichaelKitas 😀using t3.xlarge >> 4 cpu and 16 GB Memory
@@swapnilsaindane2697 you need high internet connection as well but yeah it’s slower that a Windows VM
@@MichaelKitas Thanks 💯
Thank you!
