Liz lost both of her parents, she became homeless but stayed strong, overcome poverty and got into Harvard..And she has her own family now. Bless her.☺
I love how Liz is honest about her parents' problems and at the same time honors the good things about her parents and the love they showed her. Her intelligence is shown in her ability to do this.
"The basis of forgiveness is knowing that things aren't personal. We all have limitations. People can't give you what they don't have." WOW. This is life changing. Writing down this quote of hers in the comments in case it inspires anyone else similarly. Really makes me think about my relationship with my parents.
This, and Oprah's interview with the author of A Child Called It completely shaped my childhood and my life when I saw them on her show as a child. I had a very abusive upbringing but seeing these stories saved me. I thought - if they can get through all of that, then so can I. As she says in this interview, "If I had a religion, it would be gratitude," and I can say the same - I am grateful these stories were shared to me to show me there is more in life, and that people like Oprah share this with so many others
No joke, I just sent a very similar message saying this - Love Dave Pelzer too!!! I have all his books, didnt know there was a book From Liz Murray but now that I do, I will have that also!
I met him once. At my high school. That was one of the best things that my high school did for me. He signed 3 of his books for me. ( and then 2 yrs later someone stole them from me. But that didn't change the impact in my life) It's was the same for me. Knowing what he went through I'm saying the same thing. If he can get through those absolutely horrible situations Iand survive I can make it too. He made me feel like I could be strong and helped save me.
This was one of the saddest most inspiring stories I have ever seen or heard. Lifetime did a very good job with the movie about her life. Some people just have a perseverance and determination that helps them overcome their circumstances. God bless her!!
"Having each other" are the same words I tell my children everyday. We might not have a lot or go on extravagant trips.. But, when we can talk about our day and just laugh with each other means more than anything in the world. I can relate to Liz as I too was living on the street during my high school yrs. I pushed myself and kept moving forward.
When times are tough you just got to be tougher then your situation or ull just be the situation. I'm happy for this woman overcame her trials . God bless her and her family
@I. Wynn Wynn i had same issue but i got over .I switch my thought for bad memories and turn on for good things.I dream to have a good life and keep myself busy with my son .I was worse before i had a baby and got better with him which provides me pure love and something to live for ..please try to dream something to come out .medicine never helps , just run 30 minutes everyday instead .God bless you and i hope you will heal.
This women did not even feel sorry for her self. she made a life for her self. I'm so proud of this girl . I watch the movie God was watching over this girl
You must know that this is fake . edit. From Havard to homelessness was to fit logic. Her family was history of drug using to infect her, that's reason why Havard dismissed her.
I really wanna meet her and just hug and feel what its like to have a person that lived a life like what your living right now. Some of you cant relate but just know i admire this woman
Commendable ... Congratulations!!! To be be so down and out, kicked yo the curb and dissed ..to rise above all else and persevere is awesome and inspiring!!!! God for you!!!
When someone says, they "can't" go to college for whatever reason, then just remind them about Liz Murray and her struggles. She's definitely someone to emulate. More stories like her own should be told to help inspire others.
Beautiful quote. ""The love that she (mom) was able to give to me... having children has shown me that that love imprints on you in a way that is not conscious and informs everything I do." Wow!
Whenever I doubt myself, I remind myself of the movie Homeless to Harvard. I don't know but I just find her so great and inspiring. I kinda relate to her. ❤️
The basis of forgiveness is knowing things are not personal and we all have limitations and people can't give you what they don't have. That really strike a chord with me
This just goes to show that if you put forth the effort, you’ll go places. It may not be Harvard, but it may be just enough to get you into a good life without vices and poverty.
From Wikipedia: Her older sister Lisa graduated from Purchase College in New York State and is a school teacher for children with autism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liz_Murray
Absolutely one of my favorite movies every time I watch it makes me cry but I will continue to watch this movies till the day I die. Such an inspiration to someone who is going through what she has an just to keep pushing yourself an stay positive life has its ups an downs but never give up 🥰🥰🥰
If you saw her story when it originally aired in the early 2000s (I think it was 2000) you could hear her emotional maturity. If everyone handled the curveballs in life in the way that she did, our planet would be a lot better off.
When i see her i hug her so tight and i told her that shes not alone. And i love her so much . and thank you for the inspirational story and motivated story u share. And GOD BE WITH YOU BLESSES YOU. AND U ARE GIFTED, IF U FIND THE MISSIONARIES of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints they will be so glad to meet you. God bless😇😇😇 ur my idol from: PHILIPPINES

I love how Liz is honest about her parents' problems and at the same time honors the good things about her parents and the love they showed her. Her intelligence is shown in her ability to do this.

She had all the excuses but she didn't use her circumstances as an excuse. Wow!

Clearly she was loved. Even if they were drug addicts.

@@allthingsdia9307 I don't think so from homelessness to Havard. I think so from Havard to homelessness was to fit logic, which was drug using problem
Liz, has inspired me so much, I finally gotten my diploma, an just making plans on moving foward. Im so proud of her for not giving up.
It’s the inner knowledge learned while growing up like her, that made a difference for her. Knowledge is power, she found hers. I found mine .
I really wanna meet her and just hug and feel what its like to have a person that lived a life like what your living right now. Some of you cant relate but just know i admire this woman
I take courage and I believe that one day, one time, my own challenges will be a history like Liz own, yes I believe.
