I love that you included The Goose Girl....I recommend it to all my friends, I feel like it's such an enchanting book that it transcends most modern literature and makes it a modern classic! Great suggestions!
Great video! I wholeheartedly agree with the books on the list that I have read too. You made me want to read all of the books on the list I haven't read yet. My Goodreads TBR is getting so long. :)
Bravo, Kate! Nicely done! :) I saw so very many of my faves, and several I will look forward to adding to my reading list. Your books are lovely, and your descriptions were eloquent! Thank you for sharing!
What a cool concept for a video! We have a lot of similar books in common- I want to check out some of the others you've mentioned that I'm not familiar with.
I really liked this video. I've added some books that you mention in this video. They sound great :) I'm currently reading An assembly such as this by Pamela Aidan and I am loving it
Kate! What an amazing video! Ahhh you are selling me on all of these books. Seriously, I'm rethinking all my reading plans haha. Holy cow you are taking it to a new level. All the feels.
I will be watching this again later to take notes! Several of the ones you mentioned are my favorites as well. Especially the children's novels you mentioned. What editions of Jane Austen do you have? They're stunning. 😊😊😊
I'm glad you enjoyed it! These are the box set that I have: www.amazon.com/Complete-Novels-Jane-Austen-Sensibility/dp/1612184146/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1472169856&sr=8-2&keywords=Jane+Austen+box+set
Frankenstein, Dracula, pillars of the earth, the Hobbit, longboats, ondskab, millenium triologi, Hornblower series, Sherlock Holmes series, the arn Templar trilogy, game of thrones, hunger games, missery, gotten and Felix series
Unfortunately since filming this I've moved and my copy of Anna Karenina is in storage so I can't give you the ISBN number, I'm not sure what edition it is but here is a link to my Jane Austen heirloom collection: www.amazon.com/Complete-Novels-Jane-Austen-Sensibility/dp/1612184146/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478178360&sr=8-1&keywords=Jane+Austen+heirloom
We have so many favorites in common and quite a few of yours i haven't read but want to 😃 My Family and Other Animals has been adapted for tv and is coming to pbs in September or October and it has 2 actors i love in it including Keeley Hawes plays the mother 😃
SO MANY of these books are childhood and/or adult favorites of mine as well! Not surprised. I think the only divergence was Les Mis. I wish I'd read the abridged version (blasphemous, I know!) because I think I would have enjoyed it more. Hugo's 50-100 page long detours that didn't have anything to do with the story were just TOO much for me. I kept thinking to myself while reading, "VICTOR. Listen to your editor!" Buuuut anyway...I digress. :) I will need to watch this video a few times to catch some of the titles I haven't read but KNOW I'll enjoy! And it's made me want to pick up old favorites. Like Mandy! And The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler! And Anne, obviously! I still need to read Betsy-Tacy. Have wanted to for years.
You were spot on about Les Miserables and I actually think the same thing about reading the abridged one! 100 pages on the sewer system - really?!?! You know about Mandy!!! We really are reading soul sisters :D Betsy-Tacy is just sooooo fun!
Kate, I congratulate you on the fine job you did here. I especially love listening to a young adult woman with no trace of "valley girl" speech. How did you manage to avoid it?
I liked rewatching this and can imagine it has changed a lot over the years.
I love that you included The Goose Girl....I recommend it to all my friends, I feel like it's such an enchanting book that it transcends most modern literature and makes it a modern classic! Great suggestions!
Wow! Great job at giving a brief description that really captured the essence of the books.
Thank you!
I'll have to watch again when I have pen and paper on hand😁. My TBR list will be increasing. Thanks!!!!
You're so welcome!
Wow! and some great mysteries to add to my too heavy reading list.
I hope you enjoy some of them!
even if it is almost a year later - what a wonderful video idea! Really enjoyed this, thanks for taking the time to put this video together :)
This was fantastic, Kate! You can tell how much thought you put into this! My poor TBR, I don't think it will ever recover lol.
Great job, Kate! Found a few books to add to my TBR, as always when I watch your videos.
Great video! I wholeheartedly agree with the books on the list that I have read too. You made me want to read all of the books on the list I haven't read yet. My Goodreads TBR is getting so long. :)
Thank you!

Thank you, Maria!
Would you consider giving some info on your editions in hardback? The Austin and Tolstoy were so beautiful.
Unfortunately since filming this I've moved and my copy of Anna Karenina is in storage so I can't give you the ISBN number, I'm not sure what edition it is but here is a link to my Jane Austen heirloom collection:

I'm soooo excited for it! I love Keeley Hawes in Wives and Daughters and Our Mututal Friend.
Yea, she is one of my favorite actresses :)

Oh my GOODNESS yes! I LOVE Mandy!! I haven't read it in years, but I've been itching to reread it forever now.
+Life Between Words I just found it used for a dollar and will be re-reading it this Christmas.
+Kate Howe up for another buddy read??
+Life Between Words I looove the sound of that! Between Winter Solstice and that I think that we'll have such cozy charming December reads! 😄
Kate, I congratulate you on the fine job you did here. I especially love listening to a young adult woman with no trace of "valley girl" speech. How did you manage to avoid it?
Haha, glad I steered clear of valley girl speech! I think it helped that I rehearsed this prior to filming.
