Amazing bassline indeed, but to give credit where it’s due, the first part of it was lifted from Chic’s “Good Times”

Little fun fact about this song is we probably wouldn't be graced with it's presence in our lives if it weren't for Michael Jackson. Bassist John Deacon wrote the song and Freddie gave it everything he had. Sang it till his vocal cords threatened to bleed to get it perfect for John's vision of it. He was liking the "funk" style music at that time. The other 2, Brian and Roger.........not so much into it. In fact, so much that they weren't even wanting to include it on their upcoming album, let alone release it as a single. Michael Jackson heard it, all but demanded they release it as a single. Insisted it was going to be a hit. Thankfully they listened to him. And the rest is history. So let's give MJ a big thankyou on that.😉

When it was first released in 1977 we would stomp and clap and punch the metal sides of the bus to the beat. And we all sang the verse as hard as we could. Drivers in the cars near us at the stoplight looked up all wide eyed and scared at the noise we made. By third morning, the driver turned off the radio and got out of his seat and said we better quit with that cause we were gonna destroy his bus! We better just clap or he was gonna stop playing the radio on the way to school! We behaved cause losing Queen in the morning would have been horrible.

Looking forward to more Queen reactions.
    Warning, very long comment. lol
I love talking about Queen and Freddie.
Another One Bites the Dust was written by bass guitarist John Deacon, the song featured on the group's eighth studio album The Game (1980).
The song was a worldwide hit, charting number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, from 4 October to 18 October (their second number-one single in the country).
The song spent fifteen weeks in the Billboard top ten (the longest running top ten song of 1980), including thirteen weeks in the top five, and 31 weeks total on the chart (more than any other song in 1980).
It reached number two on the Hot Soul Singles chart and the Disco Top 100 chart, and number seven on the UK Singles Chart.
The song is credited as Queen's best-selling single, with sales of over 7 million copies.
This version was ranked at number 34 on Billboard's All-Time Top Songs.
The song won an American Music Award for Favorite Rock Single and also garnered a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
John Deacon's bass line was inspired by "Good Times" by the disco group Chic. In an interview with NME, Chic co-founder Bernard Edwards stated, "That Queen record came about because that Queen bass player ... spent some time hanging out with us at our studio."
Recording sessions - produced by Reinhold Mack at Musicland Studios in Munich (West Germany) - consisted of Deacon playing almost all instruments: bass guitar, piano, electric guitar, and hand-claps.
Roger Taylor added a drum loop and Brian May contributed noises with his guitar and an Eventide Harmonizer.
There are no synthesizers in the song: all effects are created by piano, electric guitars and drums, with subsequent tape playback performed in reverse at various speeds.
Finally, sound effects were run through the harmonizer for further processing.
The effect of the harmonizer can be heard clearly in the "swirling" nature of the sound immediately before the first lyric. In early live performances, Taylor sang lead on the chorus, as opposed to the studio version sung entirely by Mercury.
As the song became more well-known, the band could rely on audiences to sing the chorus by themselves.
After attending a Queen concert in Los Angeles, Michael Jackson suggested to Freddie Mercury backstage that "Another One Bites the Dust" be released as a single.
I'd been wanting to do a track like 'Another One Bites The Dust' for a while, but originally all I had was the line and the bass riff. Gradually, I filled it in and the band added ideas.
I could hear it as a song for dancing but had no idea it would become as big as it did.
The song got picked up off our album and some of the black radio stations in the US started playing it, which we've never had before.
Michael Jackson actually suggested we release it as a single. He was a fan of ours and used to come to our shows. -John Deacon
A fantastic bit of work from Freddie really.
I mean, I remember Deacie having this idea, but Deacie doesn't sing of course, so he was trying to suggest to Freddie how it should be and Fred just went in there and hammered and hammered until his throat bled, making... you know, he really was inspired bit and took it to a new height, I think. -Brian May
I remember laying down the backing track with him and... he really wanted the drums as dry as they could possibly be, so I just stuffed it all with blankets and made it as dead as I possibly could and very low tuned. -Roger Taylor
Credit for the song should go to Michael Jackson in many ways.
He was a fan and friend of ours and kept telling me, "Freddie, you need a song the cats can dance to."
John introduced this riff to us during rehearsal that we all immediately thought of disco, which was very popular at the time.
We worked it out and once it was ready, played it for Michael.
I knew we had a hit as he bobbed his head up and down. "That's it, that's the gravy.
Release it and it will top the charts," he said.
So we did and it did. -Freddie Mercury
If you Guys want to be really blown away, watch Queen at Live Aid 1985.
This performance has been voted as the best live rock performance ever.
Live Aid: Live Aid was a dual-venue benefit concert held on Saturday 13
July 1985, and an ongoing music-based fundraising initiative.
The original event was organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise
funds for relief of the ongoing Ethiopian famine.
Billed as the "global jukebox", the event was held simultaneously at
Wembley Stadium in London, England, United Kingdom (attended by 72,000
people) and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
United States (attended by about 100,000 people).
On the same day, concerts inspired by the initiative happened in other
countries, such as the Soviet Union, Canada, Japan, Yugoslavia, Austria,
    Australia and West Germany.
It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television
broadcasts of all time; an estimated global audience of 1.9 billion,
across 150 nations, watched the live broadcast.
If accurate, this would be nearly 40% of the world population at the
    time.
Unbelievable, just imagine 1.9 billion people watching this performance
    around the world.
Queen, stole the show and there were approximately 75 other acts
    performing during the program.
Can you imagine all of this?
Freddie wrote Crazy Little Thing Called Love as an homage to Elvis.
Queen was recording in Munich. Freddie was back at his hotel taking a
bath when the idea for the song came to him. He wrote the song in about
10 minutes and told his PA Peter (Phoebe, nicknamed) to call Roger and
John and tell them to go to the studio to record the song.
If you guys were amazed by Freddie's energy in this 22 minute
performance, you haven't seen anything yet.
Watch some of their concerts, now imagine Freddie entertaining the
    audience for 90-120 minutes.
    He was amazing and mesmerizing.
Queen is the best band and Freddie is/was the best front-man
    ever..........
    There can only be one!

Enjoyed watching you guys enjoying this! This is just one of Freddie's looks which is my favorite. In the mid to late 70s, he didn't have a mustache and had longer hair, like shoulder length and wore more make-up. Then in the 80's he came into this look, kind of the masculine gay man look. Love it and still so sad for the early loss of his life, but he and Queen sure created timeless, amazing music.

John Deacon the bassist wrote this song. All the songs with strong, recognizable bass lines, (Under Pressure is another one) were written by Deaky.

I cannot BELIEVE you have not yet reacted to QUEEN at LIVE AID...their full 20 minute set. That was a charity concert that went all day and night in summer 1985 at TWO stadiums simultaneously...Wembley stadium in London, England and 100,000 people at JFK stadium in Philadelphia, PA., USA. About 40 different SUPER famous groups played that day including Elton John, Phil Collins, Madonna, Black Sabbath, George Michael, Roxy Music, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner...a reunited Led Zeppelin with Phil Collins AND Tony Thompson on drums taking the place of Zeppelins late drummer John Bonham.....all playing to get donations from around the world on 100 phone lines for famine relief for millions of starving people in Africa. And the greatest Rock and Pop group of ALL time...QUEEN....with also the best singer and best frontman EVER, Freddie Mercury.....STOLE THE SHOW and the DAY and blew all the other acts away. Please do yourselves a favor and react to that.....known as the greatest live rock performance of all time....even though it was only 20 minutes long for Queen's set for that long day of many star music groups. Do it!!!!

lmao, wearing wrist bands right now, they help cushion my wrists when on the computer because of my carpel tunnel. I wrap my wrists then put on the wrist bands over the wrap for more cushion.

I had a pair of Sasson's. Got them at Artie's (Is for Smarties lol) and one leg shrunk. In my hood, all the girls wore Sergio Valente sneakers. I wish I kept a pair.

Please, do NOT react to Somebody To Love live in Montreal without first listening to the studio version. Otherwise you have no sense of WHY the live version is so incredible: they made a beautiful and VERY complicated song in the studio, and then were able to adapt it and make an equally beautiful live version. Because they had actual talent.
