I don't like Jeff Jarrett for three reasons. Number one his Reign of Terror in TNA, number two making Kurt Angle walk Karen down to the ring so she can renew her vows with Jeff Jarrett, and number three Global Force Gold.
Always felt sorry for Jarrett that he was forced to go out to the ring next for his match, minutes after Owen died, at "Over The Edge" 1999. You could see how emotional and raw Jeff was, seeing his tag team parter in that state (and not knowing for sure if Owen was alive or dead).
A couple of things: 1. Jarrett and Austin buried the hatchet on Stone Colds WWE podcast, with him essentially apologizing by saying that he didnt remember saying that to Austin 2. The Vince payout only happened cause Vince Owed him Money and he just said "You want THIS? Then i just want what i'm owed " 3. The whole Misogynist angle was the only time he was ever OVER in WWE and as Chyna said in her book "NOTHING was working with him" 4. The Whole TNA reign of terror came to be because, he was only talent that wasnt going to leave HIS company, everyone else could leave at the Drop of a Hat. Its old school Territory thinking ,from Dusty Rhodes to Ole Anderson 5. Everything else....Correct
Well said. Also, he's very much Over in the UK as, for everything he did wrong, he still produced a product that offered a difference to WWE with TNA (which was on free TV in the UK whilst WWE was on Sky paid tv).
"4. The Whole TNA reign of terror came to be because, he was only talent that wasnt going to leave HIS company, everyone else could leave at the Drop of a Hat. The Real Reign of Terror😂. As talented and reliable as Jeff Jarett was especially as a solid midcard heel act he just wasnt believable as a main eventer and his consistent presence in the TNA title scene kind of stalled the companies momentum in the early years of course other reasons were involved too
a lot of rightful criticism gets thrown at Jeff, but there's one thing I greatly respect and appreciate about him: his longevity. the dude was damn near everywhere at some point or another, and managing to keep himself relevant still, going as far as performing for AEW not too long ago. not many wrestlers, who were much bigger draws than him, can say the same, he's almost unrivaled in this regard
Kurt did an interview shortly a little while after his HoF induction and said him and Double J are friends now and have since squashed their beef. Karen was also there when he was inducted into the HoF. Clearly both of them are on good terms now.
Calling Jeff Jarrett a mid card is an insult to mid card guys who could actually draw. The fact that the guy is in the WWE HoF while way more deserving people like Sid died trying to get in is an absolute travesty.
No, he's right ^ Even as a CHILD I knew something stank and I (even as an adult respecting the heels and such like Scott Hall) still see no redeeming qualities
@@str.77 There may have been worse but that doesn't excuse the fact he was never over. Even when I was young I found him to be incredibly boring when he was on TV. I thought JJ's terror was worse but I gave it another look. JJ beat people not many knew or weren't established. He lost to big name stars during the reign of terror. HHH on the other hand was given the title and beat big name guys. So HHH terror imo was worse.
He may be much hated by wrestling purists, but I respect Jeff for what he’s done as a wrestler and the man who help created TNA. But at the time, I hated Jarrett winning so many matches when he was NWA/TNA Heavyweight Champion.

i'm not a fan of slapnutz but his recent work in AEW has featured some late career gems and he's getting over as a babyface. i wasn't fond of him appearing in AEW but now i do enjoy him. far more than jericho.
Am I alone in thinking how shitty of a finisher Jeff Jarrett has with the stroke? The Miz's skullcrushing finale is a far better iteration of it, in my opinion. This guy is the definition of a wrestler who, at best, should've been in the middle of the pack in the mid-card and maybe higher end of the tag division.
He is the person that hurt TNA more than anyone else, including Hulk Hogan, Dixie Carter, Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo. Jeff Jarrett destroyed a lot of TNA's early momentum when they debuted on Spike TV and he went on to hold the NWA title for 274 days out of the following year as basically a continuation of his reign of terror. TNA didn't really start recovering a little bit until Angle came in and had the hot program with Joe. By that point, they had really reached a ceiling that wouldn't be eclipsed except for the brief and unstained bump that Hogan brought, but in doing so, wrecked the entire identity of the company and killed most of the good will that TNA had left with it's core fanbase. It was not an easy sell to have a known share holder of the company being featured constantly so prominently when they were trying to present it as a new and fresh alternative to WWE. Especially when Jarrett had two kinds of heat in both WWF and WCW, zero and go away heat. I did some street team work for TNA and a lot of unofficial online goodwill ambassador promoting, and he was by far one of the biggest turnoffs potential fans and old fans alike had about the company other than Vince Russo. People just HATED TNA because of the reputation that it had and a lot that is directly related to Jeff Jarrett. I met him a couple of times and he seemed like a nice enough guy as far as wrestlers go, but his ego was obviously WAAAAY bigger than both his talent as a wrestler or his business acumen. He killed TNA in the womb long before Dixie put in her two cents and Hogan/Bischoff finished it off. I can't believe they wanted to bring back that name. It's like the promotion that needs to die, but wont.
Ain't he great ? He's decent on the mic, plays a great heel and above average in the ring A real solid mid carder that lacks the next step to be a main eventer I can appreciate his work nowadays looking back and what he did for the industry with TNA But there's just something about him which I can't quite put my finger on which prevents me from liking him
It's the fact that he's a solid mid-card heel but always ended up in the main event scene that rubs me the wrong way. He's just not that guy and took a spot away from people who could have used it better.
Calling JJ despicable over the pay dispute before No Mercy is wrong. JJ was in the right about demanding his money. The pay from PPV took several months to get to the wrestlers, he wanted to make sure he got everything he was owed. Also, earlier in the year, he asked Linda McMahon for a reduced schedule since his wife had cancer, she granted it to him only for VKM and JR to reduce his pay. JJ was entirely in the right for his actions prior to No Mercy.
JJ was pretty good if you could overlook the lack of skill, lack of charisma, lack of connection with the audience, lack of looks, and lack of mic skills.
Jarrett never drew a dime in wrestling. He thinks he is top guy material (he isn’t). Dude got where he is due to his father and connections. I hate Jarret for these reasons 1) reign of terror in tna 2) thinking he is a draw 3) stealing Kurt wife 4) annoying mic skills
Very well told. EXTREMELY accurate. Truthfully honest. Great job. I once cut a promo on this guy calling myself the REEL whirl champion champion of the whirl whirl champion. Telling him that he was nothing more than an aging mid carder, with poor Mic skills and a super HUGE chip on his shoulder because no matter how many championships your daddy buys you or your pals write you in for..... NO ONE WILL EVER CARE!!!! I went to a junk yard, found a piece of flat metal, duct taped it to a leather weight lifting belt and called it the Reel Whirl Toddle. I named myself Jipp Jarredd. @@chris_t2020 I can't explain this more clearly. I'm sorry you don't understand what I'm saying. Simply put, I cut a promo on Jarrett bringing up his poor attitude of NEEEEEDING to be a WORLD champion. WWE recognizing he can't/ wont EVER draw a dime and that Jeff couldn't handel the truth. I have a bias towards JJ, I grew up watching Saturday Morning Studio Wrestling in Memphis. He and Lawler had great tag matches against the Moondogs and others. He is always a favorite of mine because I lived the Memphis territory and when WWF went national 80% of the talent came there from Memphis. Lawler trained lots of people, Undertaker, Rock, Austin, Bam Bam, Cornette, Jimmy Hart, Mick Foley, Kane, Kamala, and let’s not forget Macho Man had some incredible performances while in Memphis. The list goes on and on, plus Kaufman went to McMahon Sr. and he said it wouldn’t work well they proved that wrong in Memphis.
I know he was very controversial but I really liked him as a heel. His reign of terror was unbelievably predictable and boring but he has still had some pretty decent feuds in every company he's worked for. Has he made stupid decisions, well yes but he's no different from alot of pro wrestlers.
Ya know, I don't really have wrestling fan friends or ever join any fandoms, but growing up with Jeff ruling WCW towards the end and then TNA, I just always assumed everyone cared about him, but I couldn't put my finger on why he rubbed me the wrong way. Glad to know I was right
Isn't it ironic that Jeff Jarrett, who's considered, as the title says, one of the most hated men in wrestling, was very close with Owen Hart, who by contrast was considered one of the most beloved in wrestling. If you ask me Owen's legacy is already secure with Bret and the rest of the Hart family. Plus the British Bulldog was Owen's best tag team champion partner. I even liked Owen and Yokozuna. Hell I've even fantasized a tag team between Owen Hart and Mr. Perfect. I don't understand why Owen was so close with Jeff apart from being tag team partners.
Was a massive JJ fan during his initial WWE run and have been a massive fan since his joined AEW. It's just the 25 years in between that I couldn't stand the guy.
That's quite a contradiction. Complaining that Jarrett did not immediately start with a title feud in the WWF but also that Jarrett wanted to be higher than he was.
This guy ruined WCW and TNA for me. I liked him as a mid card guy, but thats all he was. His TNA stuff was some of the most unbelievable crap i have ever seen, it put super Cena to shame.
Jeff Jarrett always had delusions of grandeur. I never thought of him being a main eventer, just mid card at best, but his dad and Russo built up his ego so much that he just couldn't understand why the fans weren't behind him.
His work of recent is good imo he’s giving back to the younger guys . He is also a good wrestler who has longevity too …. He’s safe and his style has kept Kim in work for ages
Okay, so kinda off-topic; but is it me, or does young Steve Austin with hair, look a lot like the actor Dylan Bruno, who played "Agent Colby," on the show, _Numb3rs?_
I think the "hate" is curdled annoyance that he was always in the main event scene in late-stage WCW and TNA despite not being "that guy". If he'd stuck around the mid-card I don't think there'd be much negative sentiment directed at him. He's solid in the role as a mid-card heel and he's a good worker who could have helped put guys over as they moved up the card. There's no shame in being in the mid-card. They may not be the guys fans tune in (or buy tickets) to see but they're an absolute crucial part of any show.
@@BiggieTrismegistus I understand that. I remember watching at the time and didn’t feel like he deserved that top spot however he’s always entertained me, ever since the early 90s. His heel character was hilarious to me.
Jeff Jarrett has a good run as tna wrestling founder/consultant,now wwe hall famer and aew head of talent development and member of aew roster with wife karen Jarrett, jay lethal and sonjay dutt.
I don’t like the term “never drew a dime.” It’s outdated. The truth is, since the death of the territories, most wrestlers, on an individual level, don’t really draw - it’s the company that does. There have obviously been a few exceptions, like Hogan, Austin, Sting, and Lesnar, but for the most part, people go because there’s a wrestling show in town. I mean, who were people going to see when TNA started? It’s just more wrestling jargon fans use to sound smart.
I always liked Jeff as a wrestler, promo and character. I just don't think he was a headliner or main eventer (occasionally challenging for the title or holding it as an interim/transitional champion was probably suffice). Better suited as a mid card or upper mid carder.
He has been active in the wrestling business longer then i have been alive and i soon turn 35, which is astounding. So, i respect him atleast for having this kind of longevity. Otherwise, screw him and his booking. Broke 6000 Guitars and never drew a dime.
I’m no big fan of Double J. But, in fairness to him, that bonus money WAS owed to him. Vince just had a habit of delaying payment for months (and even wrestler who liked working with Vince admit that he would sometimes pull funny business to not pay people). So I don’t blame Jarrett in THAT particular case.
Watchin Jarrett on Memphis TV, his hair made him stand out. He had a nice physique and looked like a wrestler. He was not a great talker. He could talk, but I never got the sense that he was truly angry or dangerous. He was a mid-carder pushed to the main event status because of his last name.
Yeah I remember we had just started getting TNA ppvs here in Ireland and I was really excited to watch a show that was devoid of the Triple H reign of terror. Unfortunately, and very quickly, it became evident that there was a different kind of reign of terror happening at the same time in TNA.
Most people don’t like JJ because he was either boring, spoon fed or not that guy (they say)but I’d say he became an all time heel!I mean the guy literally built a company to be the star and not only did people watch but they absolutely hated him for it!Now that’s a true heel😂
110%…..Jeff’s ring-gear made him look like a complete tool-bag. Good worker…but when he was booking himself as the TNA champ, no one could take it seriously.

Lol. You really think the average person cares about pro wrestling, or has any thoughts about hardcore wrestling fans? The average person doesn't think about wrestling at all.

Jeff Jarrett is the definition of "go away heat".
Jeff & Deborah on Raw Is Owen is a heartbreaker.
A couple of things: 1. Jarrett and Austin buried the hatchet on Stone Colds WWE podcast, with him essentially apologizing by saying that he didnt remember saying that to Austin
2. The Vince payout only happened cause Vince Owed him Money and he just said "You want THIS? Then i just want what i'm owed "
3. The whole Misogynist angle was the only time he was ever OVER in WWE and as Chyna said in her book "NOTHING was working with him"
4. The Whole TNA reign of terror came to be because, he was only talent that wasnt going to leave HIS company, everyone else could leave at the Drop of a Hat. Its old school Territory thinking ,from Dusty Rhodes to Ole Anderson
5. Everything else....Correct
Well said. Also, he's very much Over in the UK as, for everything he did wrong, he still produced a product that offered a difference to WWE with TNA (which was on free TV in the UK whilst WWE was on Sky paid tv).

a lot of rightful criticism gets thrown at Jeff, but there's one thing I greatly respect and appreciate about him: his longevity. the dude was damn near everywhere at some point or another, and managing to keep himself relevant still, going as far as performing for AEW not too long ago. not many wrestlers, who were much bigger draws than him, can say the same, he's almost unrivaled in this regard

He's decent on the mic, plays a great heel and above average in the ring
A real solid mid carder that lacks the next step to be a main eventer
I can appreciate his work nowadays looking back and what he did for the industry with TNA

Never really been a fan of JJ but over the last few years my opinion has softened
I was almost expecting Marky D to make a cameo on this one. Still a good video though.
