Paid plan can go upto 10TB for both, and on top of that it's one time payment, so you only pay once and that's it, and it's actually more secured than dropbox too, and both free plan offer more storage than Dropbox, 5GB for pcloud and 10GB for Ice drive when using a free plan which is better than Dropbox 2GB. Granted it is expansive so it's only ideal if you are planning on using it for many years, cause if you are then that makes it cheaper than dropbox too. pcloud has better features such as even having like this virtual hard drive that doesn't take any space from your actual hard drive (like it more than dropbox), however ice drive is newer and cheaper and has better "free" plan. Or even with that are you still planning on using dropbox?
I really like Proton and what they offer. The only thing I don't like about Proton (the Proton suite specifically) is the inconsistency across iOS and Android apps. Other than that, I like Proton
Problem with all this is trying to get all your online friends who use gmail, mcn mail, etc. to switch to Protonmail or other secure email service that I am using. They refuse to budge.

About these 'better privacy policies' and 'general practices': does it include stripping the IP address of the sent email? This is very important. I know it's true for Tutanota ... also for Protonmail?
Tutanota still lacks different display names (sender names) for aliases despite being a requested feature for years so I'm more likely to pay for Proton which has this feature
I realize there are trade-offs, but the problem is Proton has had their calendar and cloud apps in Beta for sometime. The reason I haven't switched to a "Private e-mail" is because is it really effective, isn't it negated when the recipients use standard providers? If I sent an e-mail to a friend who uses Gmail then by being in his inbox Google's got a record, if I CC a Yahoo friend in, now Yahoo's got a record. Unless all sides use Proton or Tutanota isn't "private e-mail" ineffective? Wouldn't true private communication be typing the message in LibreOffice & encrypt the ODT file before attaching it in the e-mail then Signal over the unlock key to the recipient. Am I overthinking this?
That's true to an extent but privacy is never about getting complete privacy it's just about maximizing the Privacy that you can reasonably accomplish, and I also think, trying to reward companies that care about your privacy and don't treat your data as a product
I really dont understand why a desktop app is needed for email, most of the time its just an electron app which you cant call native. Theres no reason to have a desktop app that just embeds the web app inside of it.
The only reason I chose Proton over Tutanota is because Tutanota still hasn't implemented a "show unread mail" button. If you got a mail and gets lost in the inbox, it's hard to recover.
