So much rhythmic class, style and vibe. Anyone to dislike this only wishes to perform so flawlessly. Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald would give a standing ovation themselves.
Outstanding rendition of "Cheek to Cheek". It's great to hear it on a guitar that's the same age as the song.
Look who's back! Can't beat a GOTD with Jonathan. I love how he demonstrates both harmonic and melodic leads.
It's always nice to see Jonathan playing one of those great old archtops. And it also shows the incredible diversity of the music you can make with a guitar too. This was a much more common style back in the 1920's and '30's but it is a rare treat to hear someone play it these days.
What an amazing surprise when Jonathan starting singing! Superb guitar playing on a classic instrument. What a treat!!
I am still wondering who can unlike this video. Whoever it is is such a hater!!
Not only is Jonathan a killer player but a very good singer too!!
a lesson in attack. What control he has to make that thing project.
Love this guy!
Here's a guy that can really play. Thanks for the great demo!
Awesome, parents music lives Thnx
John Stout with the rare vocal performance!
That was a rare treat!
Such a great player a genuine great human being I will watch this guy play anytime anytime over the majority of people you see on here
Such a clear tone
Wow, just wow!
Such an awesome piece of 90+ year old art, and played so well. Fantastic.....
Bloody brilliant !!!
How does someone dislike this? That was awesome! As in I am in awe. And whist some day I could play that well.
Norman's will need to put in a dance floor one of these days.
Very awesome guitar gibson sir, perfect for jazz n blues style
My ideal acoustic guitar
Stout played that 28 like nobody else 1 of kind.
I love that song and Mr. Stout does it more then justice. Bravo!!
Wow! That thing sounds sweet!
Cool and unusual Gibson
⚓️ Thanks Jen, Jon, Mike. 😎
That's an amazing guitar! So cool
Wow really nice
Great playing, superb.
“ Big bad Bill “
Is
sweet William nowwwww “ 🤘🏼
i can dig it
Awesome!!
Two great players to grace this program from Norms today Wow we are blessed 🙏🎸❤️ Thank you 👍🏻
Jonathan...you should sing more often. Kind of got that Fred Astair voice going on. I love the way you play brother. Just so tasteful. All the best.
Gorgeous guitar and fantastic playing! Jazz on an acoustic always sounds amazing!
That gentleman is probably the best guitarist I've ever seen and heard. I'm 60 grew up playing Hendrix, page, Clapton ETC this dude is just unreal. Unreal in every sense of the word. Bless you my son. Lol
That thing is a masterpiece !!!
Amazing guitarist, truly outstanding 👍
Absolutely Astounding,so very well done.
Enjoyable!
Amazing instrument and a fantastic musician!!
Wow, sounds like the late Russell Hamilton, amazing and awesome, just love it. Blessings from Kruger Park in SA.
Tremendous
Just ordered all of your CD's-wish you had HQ Vinyl-love to you and your band
Awesomeness! That guitar is sweet too! Man it projects sooooo well. 🤘🏼
Si beautiful guitar 👌🏻
Jon you should do more of this stuff: you're a great at singing and comping yourself, and your little chord melody fills make it all that much more precious. Best "Cheek to cheek" recorded.
The L4 that is better than some L5's.....beautiful.In the right hands...not a diss to Lemmo. Wow!
Love his playing......going to have to find him if he ever plays in New Jersey and be in the audience
I used to have this Fred Astaire CD where he sings this song and a bunch of other Cole Porter tunes.....loaned it to a friend and never got it back... Fred was quite a singer too.....great CD
Legendary guitarist
Always awesome. 🎉🎉🎉❤
This is great.
Whether it's a traditional f-hole acoustic archtop or a hybrid like this beauty, there's no demonstrator to compare with Jonathan!
Funny enough, the oval hole was the first archtop, and continued to be that way until the Loyd Loar era. It's not even technically a hybrid!
@@gavinw5469 Yeah, you're right! I guess I just think of the L-4 that way, even though it did pre-date the more famous f-hole L-5. There are pictures of Eddie Lang with his oval-hole L-4, which he had prior to getting his L-5.
Got my like. That was great!
Man I love this channel!! Great analysis of the guitars and beautiful playing..no matter who...excellent job!!
Dude is solid!!!
Man oh man Mr Stout you've got the Midas touch with these Gibsons! Awesome work! However! Gotta do a Maton!
this guy is amazing
Most cool, Jonathan!
I was hoping to hear what Johnathan's thoughts were regarding this 12-fret neck (which ... I love, and which makes the oval L4s unique among all other archtops) to a standard 14-fret for jazz rhythm playing.
Cool
🔥🔥🔥
Let this 100 year old guitar be an example to the "reliced, vibby" (beat to shit) guitar crowd. If you take care of your equipment it will outlive you and several other generations.. Man that thing is in outstanding shape
Dang that was slick
That is a super nice Gibson👌I'm not really a jazz fan but it has its moments
I like his style. Would be fun seeing him and Lemmo play together. See how their styles could meld. Bet would be grand.
Damn great player and that guitar sounds amazing!
Nice Irving Berlin classic
nice ..
wow!!! love his playing very cool man love the preJazz stuff !!! Django era type style ,its coming back just a heads up
yes everything will still be there hee hee the young kids love this stuff man
i want guitars
living history tone
it's like an old ford that always had enough power
I beat the hell out a guitar playing what I hope is Blue, Rock, etc... Jonathan is amazing. So Good. So calm and cool. Go Jonathan.
Those oval hole hole L4s are so underrated.
1928 Gibson good GOD
This guy is very good
👏🏼👏🏼
Fred Astaire arrived to NRG, great, congratulations
I kept expecting Fred and Ginger to dance past behind him !
sheesh! she's one handsome gibson
Dan Hicks would bow to you Sir--Kudo's and Love-
😎
I bet a dollar there was a matching mandolin for that guitar.
Good ol’ Lemmo
Reverb! Where is the bottomless reverb? I can actually hear the guitar's true tone!
That didn't suck at all!
loved it all, but that thong needs New strings to sound its best.
the old strings don't do it justice.
$30k extra for a cool headstock is to steep for me. >I'm out. ... But, it's like this; Tater Vanderdough, who only dabbles playing music but is loaded will buy it, and stuff it in his vault. Eventually, Mick Jagger or Bob Dylan accepts an invite to one of Vanderdoughs house parties at which he also invites Stout and has his house help fetch the L4 out of the vault and put into a display case next to a bunch of almost priceless LPs and such. At the party, the guitar catches the Rockstars' eyes, and Vanderdough pulls it out and hands it to Stout, who mesmerizes everyone. After the party, the L4 goes back into the vault for another 25 years. This is how Bram Stoker got the idea for his Dracula novel - the thought of a priceless Gibson guitar being locked up in a vault and never played was driving him mad. (I can only hope he made enough off the novel to afford one of these Gibsons).
That was straight pimp
No MASKS..yaaaaay!!
Thanks for the unsolicited and irrelevant mask comment. Darwin approves...🙄
This is not the place for that garbage. Keep it to yourself.
@@EdMrEasy ...he says behind the slave-diaper on his face...
@@EdMrEasy Thank you.
No wonder the world is rewind...
@@emilymatt9999= too stupid to insult.
unfortunately that guitar did NOT keep its age. for anyone considering paying for that hunk of firewood, think again. jonathan has made other guitars sound much nicer
Bargain at just over $40,000 and even though it sounds terrible who wouldn't want to have a play.
Looks like it has a hidden , by the stinger and cloudy nitro around it, headstock break and it doesn'r sound very good compared to a 1920 L-1 I have heard.
