    instead of spawn points, one whole side of the map should be the spawn area and you can pick exactly where to spawn

      this dumb company would do anything but not add a barrier to stop people from shooting from one spawn point to another spawn point. Imagine trying to find cover but the moment you drive out of the spawn they can just shoot you from their spawn.

    spawns should be easy to defend positions but in war thunder you spawn on a open field with next to no cover and the enemy has hull down position where they can shoot directly into your spawn

    • @goldenhate6649
      @goldenhate6649 4 месяца назад +5

      Maybe not easy to defend, but hard to shoot into from over say, 15% of the map away. But most times, you can easily shoot into them from the center with little issue. That gives you time to spawn (usually spawn camping comes from a death spiral where you can't find a position to fight from)

      what if, and call me crazy, you spawn at a base? kind like how actual military forces leave from a base and dont have a whole unit parked in an open field waiting to send the next line? literally just further back over a big hill add an actual base just like for aircraft where they have moderately accurate ai tank gunners just sitting there that shoot at any enemy that crests that hill and tries to spawn camp? but this also requires larger maps with more than 1 terrain feature between the cap and the spawn

    I hate it when they try to force more repetitive, stale and inconsistent gameplay by limiting the already limited amount of positional freedom you have in ground rb.
    There are so few players that realise they can also use A/D instead of W-only to flank and gain an advantage by not playing the same spot everyone else plays. The 1 lane maps are just unbearable, they are so incredibly stale and boring to play, you don't get any freedom in your positioning and are unable (sometimes) to fully utilize the strengths of your vehicle.
    Spawncamping is an issue, I agree with that. However the solution is not to just cut of flank routes, imo the solution is to limit the variety of angles / positions that can be used to consistently spawn-camp people.

    • @caelisr3
      @caelisr3 4 месяца назад +5

      they should just make more spawn points, or maybe that you can select a point on one side of the map. They cant do spawncamping if literally you can spawn anywhere on that side

    • @dfnxINC
      @dfnxINC 4 месяца назад +5

      I think that this bridge removal thing will just make spawncamping worse. If your team is pushed back, congratulations, instead of 6 people pushing your spawn, you have 8 because they don't flank anymore. With eastern Europe AND holland, both straight lines, my problem is not some M18 doing the funny on some obscure hill, it's getting a horde of 7 tanks in my spawn and me being the only one to fight them, along with a couple AAs, because everyone else has left. In part it's also my teams fault. When I start pushing, the others sit back, so I end up in 1v5s. Very rarely do they help you advance and win. But one way or another, hammering the flanking route won't fix anything.

      You know some of the event game modes they tried were actually quite good. Even ones where they had historical matches, so Germans in Panthers and Tigers and the Allies in Shermans. There was a limit to what proportion of the team could be heavies so you didn't get Tiger spam, IIRC. Even though the balance between the BRs were well off its was still fun to play in a Sherman. I always remember on an Italian map event waiting in ambush and one -shotting a Tiger I in the side with my trusty 75mm gunned M4! They try these things out in event and then seemingly take the idea no further. So we're left with capture the flag, capture all 3 flags or capture the other team's flag...

Fill the map with SOMETHING. im sure they got assets they could just plant in there to make it more interesting. - Tanks too grouped up at the start
      - Light tanks spawning on the inside of the spawn area rather than the outside wasting time they could be using to flank
      - Spawn campers knowing where enemies will spawn

Games based on community support and feedback are always extremely fun and bring in so much more players because the team actually listens and cares about the community. I call their design philosophy "headbutting" - canyons, tight urban streets, anything that makes head-on brawling the only viable playstyle. Good luck playing on 90% of the maps if your favourite tank is a hull down vehicle. There's about three or four maps in the entire game where brawling, sniping, and flanking are all viable. I wonder how much Gaijin's lead environment designer gets paid, because whatever it is (if the position exists at all) then it is obviously far too much. I disagree, partially. Yes, the grind is unbearable for most, and it causes people to seek that braindead “hold W”, spawncamp/kill steal gameplay we all know, but I think personally that it’s a symptom, rather than the cause.
      The cause being that the core gamemodes and gameplay loop just isn’t good enough to be enjoyable/not rage-inducing on its own. It’s one of the reasons people focus on the grind so much, because match to match, there’s no real incentive except “kill as many of the enemy as possible, because maybe the next vehicle is more fun”.
      If the game itself was just better, it would lessen the rage and anxiety of the grind, because you’d already be having fun at your current BR.

    I remember the beginnings of Warthunder when they brought the first tanks in the games. The maps were three times bigger and would withstand a 16 vs 16 with ease, still allowing you to flank, to do some standoffs on capture points, without never actually reaching the enemy spawn. Like White Castle. It was huge when the first time that map dropped in. You would fight inside the castle, on the outerskirt, and even in the fields. But players whined up, saying it was too big, that they would drive for 5 to 10 minutes before getting one shot. Gaijin listened to that and removed the big maps. Then, we had slightly larger maps, like Fulda. Now, each time that I rarely have Fulda, players complain every time that it is too big. No wonder why Gaijin is killing their maps in a 400 meters large for 600 meters long. Yes, real simulation enjoyers want to fight at longer ranges and have fun with armor wants big map. The 50 to 60% of players from the playerbase don't want that. They want the fastest and easiest way to kill, they want to play WoT without healthbars, not playing something getting closer to DCS, ARMA or Squad. They want their CoD moments with multi tons armored vehicles. I saw the community of Wt going from a community creating reenactments of events to a copy paste of LoL community.

    I agree with pretty much everything you say, and I think that something that gaijin cares a lot about for seemingly not much reason is queue times. With a single server selected at most BRs I play I can usually find a game within 30 seconds and if not within a minute. I believe maintaining these short queue times is largely why gaijin doesn't want to do things like your map playlists idea, and why they are reluctant to decompress the BRs (although they've finally started doing that recently). I would not mind waiting 2 or 3 minutes on average to queue, if it means the gameplay experience is better and I don't have to play on maps that don't fit my playstyle or are just utterly terrible. I also think that there are some problems with maps that can't really change with the current gamemodes. I have around 500 hours in game (mostly in ground RB), not a huge amount but definitely not low, and on most maps I can know exactly where my enemies can and will be. The maps are small enough and the games are short enough that in a single match there is usually no player in a spot I didn't think of. I'm not saying I don't get flanked, I'm not saying people don't outsmart me and go places I don't expect, but with everyone coming out of 2 spawn points and not having time or space to take unusual routes, every game goes pretty much the same way. This is one of the large things that I think would make a gamemode such as ground sim EC succeed, or even ground RB EC. Imagine players being on a 10km x 10km or larger map, with more spawn points where being the first into battle isn't important, in a 3 hour long game that you can leave or join any time, meaning that you don't need to rush and be ahead of your team to do well, and instead be more spread out taking your time not knowing where your adversaries will be and also having the ability to engage people at longer ranges. I love fighting people at 2+ kilometers in ww2 tanks where sniping takes skill, and this could allow for that, without also enforcing it. Sure it would be hard to balance the maps but I would take that any day over the current ground RB and ground sim gamemodes. Curious to know what you would think about that. Just in case it wasn't obvious if any ground EC gamemode were added it would run alongside the other gamemodes.

    • @guywhodoesstuff3314
      @guywhodoesstuff3314 4 месяца назад

      You know what the sad thing is? What you described for ground EC is pretty much exactly how old ground RB used to play. But players got pissy about big maps, arguing that it was annoying driving 5 minutes, only to be one shot and have to start over. Unfortunately, it was those comments that led to smaller and smaller maps, because Gaijin can't think of any creative solutions to the problem. I would love a ground EC mode, I'm sure a lot of people would, especially one where you can keep spawning like in naval EC, but there's a another "problem" with that unfortunately. There used to be a ground EC mode, but what ended up happening is people used ground EC to quickly grind out trees in just a couple of matches due to the high rewards you can earn from EC games. Gaijin didn't like that, it didn't incentivize the purchase of golden eagles or premium accounts to "speed up" the grind. So, unfortunately for us players, I don't think we'll ever get something like that again.

    • @M1BHOMPSON

      That's inherently flawed, you can't fix bad map design by slightly tweaking a reward system. Because why would you willingly give up space and risk the enemy team having options to regain map control and turn things around. The issue is that spawns late game become death funnels due to how compressed they technically are with how long range tank combat can get. Its also an element of how you have finite spawns in a match, where in battlefield conquest theres no spawn limit and matches are longer so getting pushed to spawn can just be overcomed eventually.

    • @M1BHOMPSON

    Considering maps are way bigger than portion we are allowed to use, it would be a fairly simple task to abandon "circle on ground" objective style and instead divide map into control zones. Zone can be captured if there are no enemy units in it, and it is not enclosed inside enemy controlled territory. Players could spawn in any zone that is fully enclosed in friendly territory.
    There's no ticket bleed. Match ends when specified % of zones is owned by one side, or when enemy has no "safe zones" left to spawn in.
    This means as game advances and one team is being pushed back, their spawn points are pushed back too. This is where sim-sized maps come into play, this means team has always ground to fall back too, unless they get steamrolled.
    Friendly zones with enemy units in it, but not allowed to be captured yet (so subject to rush, or a camping site), could be also marked as such, so friendly team is aware of enemy presence there, but without disclosing their exact position, which is IMO good balance here.

      I’ve have very similar thoughts about that style of gameplay mechanic, but ultimately when I see how awful and brain dead a lot of players are, I doubt most players would have any idea what to do. I’ve seen so many people fail to understand the importance of de-capping to prevent ticket bleed, or just strait ignoring the cap and leaving it in the enemy’s hands, or driving off the cap while an enemy is present and just remaining on the cap would have won the game.

      one addition i want to point out from experience in older games, the cap shouldn't be based on the existence of an enemy but by the ratio between the enemy and ally, making it a bit more fluid and fool proofing it from grievers who would just hide in inaccessible area in the zone.
      basically:
      (100%) should make the cap progress really fast
      >(80% x 20%) split should make the cap progress fast
      >(50% x 50%) split should make the cap progress slow
      =(50% x 50%) exact split should make the cap neutral

    A map playlist would be such a great idea. Nothing better than wanting to play some derp tank and all you get is flat open maps. Or you wanna play some slow sniping stuff? Here ... have exclusively city maps.
    I am so done with this. I know it's bad behaviour but I started to just leave maps I don't like, hop onto another nation and only continue with maps I actually wanna play. I am sorry, but I kinda want to enjoy my time and playing on the wrong side of a spawn-camp map is not my idea of having fun after a 10 hour day at work. Or, as I said ... exclusively playing a type of map that I have no interest in. And sadly there are just so many maps that are generally bad or heavily inbalanced.
    I also started to ignore everything above 7.x, cause clearly even less maps are made for the APFSDS rangefinder meta. Getting spawn camped in less than a minute is just a stupid experience. I've been with the game since the beta ... and I don't know why I still have any hope for this game, cause Gaijin has proven again and again and again and again that they just don't know what they're doing and even worse ... they just don't learn from any mistakes.
    But then again ... I barely play anymore, anyways. Because I know the experience will always include frustration. And I just don't really wanna deal with that. Heck, I sometimes spend more time in test drive etc and just look at the great models, cause I just don't wanna join another bad map again. Feels just sad.

    A few things I would personally like to see is an unlimited-respawn team deathmatch with zero CAS, or a mode from battlefield 1 called operations which would still play with normal cas, but be frontline oriented where the attackers have to take control over the zone for a certain time before moving to the next zone. Another thing I would like proposed is a battle rating change. Instead of the 1.0 BR range, i feel that the range should be the very next lower BR or the very next higher BR. Example of this is a 6.3 vehicle can only face against 6.0 BR vehicles and 6.7 BR vehicles. I truly believe this would be an overall positive change for balance, of course it would take time to go through every single vehicle to place in this new br bracket. I know this is a lengthy paragraph, but i hope something could be taken from this.

    What War Thunder really needs is more game modes. Right now ground battles just feel boring because it’s the same thing over and over again. You spawn in, move to the point, sit around and capture the point, and then whatever team has the advantage moves into spawncamping the other team, ensuring that the one team being spawncamped could never recover and guaranteeing the other team’s victory. And then everyone gets killed by the clearly unfair advantage of CAS. What War Thunder desperately needs is more game modes and more variety. Maybe have a game where one team has to escort a defenseless AI convoy and the other team has to ambush them. Maybe have a capture the flag game mode. Maybe have game modes where you have to utilize actual military tactics and stay in formation. That’s what would make War Thunder have more variety and be arguably more fun, rather than an endless grind of playing game after game that feels the exact same.

If a player spent some good minutes getting into a place where they can camp one capture point, I got no problem with that. I'm even fine with obstacles only certain vehicles can cross like the downed bridges used by amphibious tanks, but in such cases I think your suggestion of different map tags (urban, open etc) when selecting the battle would help players that don't have such vehicles. I think the main problem to be solved rn are the map features that allow those spawncamping and general camping positions to go unpunished.

For instance, try this one on for size with a new account - buy a premium. 99% chance your first match will not only be a win, but you will do very well in it. And this tapers off after ~10 matches. That's something that multiple people have noticed.
      Heck, I've noticed it and I'm just your average 54-ish% WR player. I don't suck, but I'm not great either. I think the problem with map “playlists” would be, that there will be none choosing to play on long range maps with lets say their US 5.7 lineup because they know it will be swarming with 5.7-6.0 Germany which severely outclass them there. So they will play only close range maps. This will IMO lead to close range maps being full of nations and players with lineups suitable for CQC and anyone with a lineup not particularly good at CQC will just select the long range maps. In the end there will be almost like "two different Warthunders". Where one will be a Jumbo vs Jumbo CQC nightmare and the other will be a VIDAR snipe fest. I'm exaggerating of course but I think you can understand what the problem might be. I know its not fun going up against a Panther at 1000m in your 76 Sherman but that's a part of this game that makes it somewhat balanced. Maybe you dominate in your Panther this game, but next map will be a city map, and you get destroyed by jumbos. If you take that dynamic away it will become very monotonous IMO.

      The problem already starts at the point that there are already 95% of CQC maps, out 73 maps 68 are CQC centered. Its one reason why I uninstalled a few weeks back because it annoyed me so much that every match is a 200m snap reactiontest. Its not about changing tactics but rather forcing one single damned playstyle that makes the whole gameconcept redundant. Why have several hundred or thousands of vehicles with all their features and quirks when only maybe 100-200 vehicles are actually viable?
      It doesnt matter which nation I play to me, I can wreak havoc with US, RU, GB, GER at any BR but its frustrating that with all the differences of the nations you are always forced into the same playstyle.

    • @mrbeast85

      Yes the problem with allowing bans or map play lists is that there is not an even spread of people that want to play all the maps. So if like me you prefer open country maps that look like real places, with good firing positions, sight lines and encourage longer range engagements (you know, like how tanks work IRL) then you could be either waiting a very long time for a game, have very small teams or have to play with bots to fill the gaps (good luck if you're the token human player on that team!). A lot of players complain about having to actually drive to the battle for a minute or shoot at anything over 100m. I already think that the ability to ban or dislike maps actually messed up the map rotation when they brought it in. There are maps in WT I have played on a single occasion, because they are unpopular!

    Well, There is a fine line when it comes to WarThunder and this is a major problem with every AAA Title game.
    War-Thunder's Maps are too Small and too quick in GRB. Maps are supposed to be Massive and utilizes strategy to get to an objective and spotting tanks are determined where they are coming from...
    So lets begin.
    - 1. War Thunder should revaluate their maps to include larger maps. As an OPTION!
    - 2. Banning maps: There is a feature that you are allowed to ban specific maps that you don't like to play on.
    - 3. Rewards for more points & progression of Battles. In my opinion there should be AI Driving around small vehicles that the Opposing team can destroy to gain a small amount of SL & Progress.
    - 4. Maps that solely have players is not very enjoyable for the Casual player. We aren't in a Competition or E-Sports Team. We want to enjoy the vehicles, But have to earn it.
    Specifically the Maps are problematic as a lot of the tanks you use depends on the scenario & Playstyle. (AA Vehicles for example) "They either do no damage to vehicles OR they are very OP".
    Having Extreme Large maps will ensure that you can turn the tide of battle and have more objectives for players to fight over... You could also Mix Battles so battles are much longer in the new battle mode "War Thunder" You have Mixed Battles that are happening in the same match. Such as Aircraft / Boats / Helicopters(In higher tiers) And utilize them a lot more than what we are limited too. Gaijin is sucking our money and there was a time where WarThunder people boycotted the game until changes were made back in the day.
    All in all, The problem greatly is not variety of Game-modes that are available.
    - Arcade mode: Should be the barebones quick & easiest to get used to WarThunder's Mechanics and eventually advance to realistic. (Speaking of witch)
    - Realistic mode: Larger Maps & more objectives to Capture & Hold. The longer your tank is in the circle, The more points you GAIN rather deplete. Destroying convoy's, Tanks or other vehicles that you come across a small Platoon, you Sabotage the Enemy's bases and claim it for your own. Massive conquest is what it should be called or "War Thunder." The very name of the game.
    If a Base is Bombed (Every plane, Fighter, Bomber, Helicopter can only be spawned at their respected locations. (Similar to Simulator battles) I am 100% willing to drive my happy ass across the map in order to capture an objective for the team to spawn on and squads would award you double / Triple points depending the size of your platoon.
    That's my suggestion.

    • @njorunmimisofficial
      @njorunmimisofficial 4 месяца назад

      P.S - I also have to mention about "Spawn camping" I believer there should be a boundary that Enemy players cannot cross: If they cross, They WILL DO NO Damage to that tank. that includes bombs or anything. Having that spawn risk: Just makes other players rather pull back and stay at their objectives rather rush in destroy them from behind & Sit there the hole match: "Spawn protection does nothing" once you move your spawn protection is forfeit: So, I would purpose that another would be : If an enemy player is in the other spawn. MORTAR fire similar to the Artillery barrage. It will instantly hit them each and everytime until their tank is disabled, they can't move and reward the nearest player the kill.
      This is not Call-of-Duty. or Battlefield, This is WarThunder... I believe that if they can change the game, Update the game and still let people play for free!
      I believe it would not hurt to adjust the game and give players what we want and hold "TESTS" TRY OUT new game-modes and just DO IT. If it fails, remove it, If people like it do it...
      It's like the April fools event... Each one is different. But depends on the map, It can be one sided. (Who ever is there Map design Lead) Is a Moron, Js.

  • @codemy666
    @codemy666 4 месяца назад +2

    Something like battlefield's rush would be amazing for this game. However they'd need to remove the SP system for ground vehicles, for it to work (there used to be a gamemode like that with the old SP costs, so when you got downtiered in a heavy and died quickly then you couldn't respawn and the whole long gamemode just became boring because there weren't enough enemies or teammates).
    If gaijin doesn't want to remove the SP for ground vehicles then alternatively they could reset the lineup for both teams when an objective is taken (aka the tanks you died in could be used again and the spawn cost would get reset too). Once the objective is taken all players get their spawnpoints reset to 400SP, unless they have more than that. This in return would ensure that there would be enough players for all objectives and it won't become a weird ass witch hunt and since WT's RP rewards are dependant on staying in the match then this would also incentivise players to stay. This would also increase ground rewards and would probably be on par with the air battle rewards, fixing another issue.
    Couple this with the spawn areas that some people below suggest, you could get a really nice and dynamic gamemode that would allow for some nice positioning, instead of being a linear mess the game currently aims to be. To fix spawncamping you could draw a line though which the attacking team can't advance, in return the defending team can drive as far as they'd like but going past the objective at some point they become spotted on the map (like 200-500m past the objective, depending on the map sizes, the sim maps can get pretty big tbh).
    To add more depth you could force each player to only spawn one plane and heli per match so they couldn't be spammed, also the players who die in an air vehicle don't get their SP replenished for the next objective and would only be allowed to spawn SPAA , so there would also be a penalty for it, but they'd still have an use and wouldn't have to stare at blank screen (they'd have a chance to return to a tank on the next objective).

      The game would be a lot more fun if you could play too without worrying about running out of SP or using all your tanks and being forced back to the hanger. The whole monetisation system is based around it though and they sell those respawn tickets to let you re-use a tank.

    the voting is really funny, from the 3k votes 96% have voted to revert the changes made.
    snail really needs to fire the obese heavy tank enjoyers that run their map making team.

    Nearly every match, there are people, ignoring the caps and pushing directly to the enemy spawn and start spawncamping.
    There could be methods to prevent this, like no-go zone near the enemy spawn and so on.

    %80 of the maps are a joke imho.
    I refuse to even play like 6 or 7 of them.

    A small band-aid solution would be to simply add more spawn locations. If you can choose from 6 positions instead of 2 it would be a lot harder for enemies to camp all the spawn zones.

    wll they fed up long time ago...no hill climbing,red zones,reduced traction,literal hallway maps with red zones on both sides...you say players have to much freedom of movement, i say oposite is the case...in eastern europe other side of the map was rarely used for spawncamping...main role was to flank B point, without it map makes 0 sense...the only thing we see i game progresively getting worse, negating map knowledge,creative use of positioning in order to level the playing field...and all that bc most of the players cant get into their heads that flanks need to be protected, most of the matches are center line slugfests, and anyone with half braincell opting for flank is "abusing" the map...i love the game , but lets face it its hot garbage, and with every update its getting worse....oooooo, new update lets see where else i CANT go now...lol

    I just wanna put this out there because you talking about how we as a community want to support WarThunder reminded me of this:
    Not that long ago, a friend of mine has completely abandoned WarThunder, has refunded the over $2,500 that they spent on the game, and wants absolutely nothing to do with WarThunder anymore. The reasoning? Their account was hacked into and banned for cheating as the person who hacked into their account was most likely cheating on it. They've tried multiple different times to contact Gaijin support about the issue and get their account back, but what did Gaijin do? Didn't respond to the majority of the support tickets they sent in with the only response being "You're responsible for your account security" and basically "oh well, nothing can be done" while not even attempting to help them. 8+ years of time, gameplay, and effort gone because Gaijin refused to help them, as well as almost $3,000 pulled back out of Gaijin's pockets, and a previously dedicated fan no longer wanting anything to do with the game. I really want to support this game because it really could be amazing, but things like what was mentioned in this video and what happened to my friend just make it really difficult to want to do so, and even more difficult to want to introduce my friends to the game...
