Hi there, If I am ever doing that I will be sure to make a video on it, however it will likely not be soon.

is it the same on montero gen. 2 the maf sensor?

I know they share many common parts, however I couldn't tell you about the MAF specifically, its best to check the part numbers.

    Hi Ross,
I have heard that cleaning the MAF on Montero's is not recommended and they should only be replaced.
    Is that correct?

Hi Fahad, I have cleaned them before, however I am sure the recommendation would to always be to replace them. have you read up on it at all?

      @@RossPerryProductions Thanks for responding Ross.
How can I read it? Does the normal OBD sensor will read it? Or is there a special diagnostic tool?
But here are following symptoms in my /Montero/Pajero.
      1) Hard Start
      2) Car stalls when stopped on Red light.
      3) Loss of power when accelerating
Long story short is I went for a trio in extreme cold weather after returning when I started there was loud rattle noise from the engine and it was running very rough.
Took it too a shop, the hydraullic tensioner was faulty, once it was replaced engine started fine but now, there was acceleration issue and rough idle problem.
I also found out that the driver side exauat manifold was cacked.
I then got the manifold replaced with gaskets, so the exauat issue was fine but the cold strat, rough idle at red lights and loss of power remains. The mechankc suggests it is MAF.
I did clean MAF a few months ago.

Do you need a relearn after replacing the sensor?
    Cheers

Hi Gareth, with the MAF it should automatically re adjust, the most I would do is reset any codes should there be some. Ross

Hi I’m having problem with my papers io I believe 1999 model. When I go uphill the engine power becomes weak and the engine light is blinking and the car started to jiggle..could it be a bad maf sensor.

Hi Raemadau, Sorry to hear of your troubles, have you tried plugging in a diagnostic tool? there is a whole host of things it could be, fuel pump, injectors, turbo failure, sensor related etc. If the engine light has been on it should have registered a code.

If I was to try eliminate a fault with the MAP, by disconnecting it, would that throw a code or eliminate it as an MAP fault successfully?

      @RossPerryProductions  2 года назад

Hi Simon, Unfortunately I believe that would still throw up the fault, is it a MAP fault or MAP fault?

No the DPF light went straight to flashing but I know it can mean other things so trying the process of elimination.

Hi I have a shogun equippe gdi automatic 3500cc petrol car
    2002 .
When starting my car i turn my key once and wait for all the electrics to come on , there is usually a lot of whirring noises going on but now this is going on for a little longer .... turn the key fully and hear all the normal noises .. the girl going of what is going on under the hood .... amd sometimes the car gets a bit shaken as it warms up. ( never had a 4x4 before )
a few times recently when starting the car , Driving off ... and trying to pick up speed it drags, recently it has even come to a stop ...
I will turn the engine off restart it and continue to drive .... sometime when it struggles to pick up speed it will also suddenly kick in
I work at a hospital and as I pulled right out of the car park and up a hill it’s started making very loud croaking noises , little bubbling( it felt like that was I underneath me ) , it then pushed forward and started going slow again eventually stopping ( embarrassed ) Restarted the car and then drove home .... it feels like I have to fully warm my car up for it to perform better ... this has never happened to him indoors so I feel like I’m losing my mind a little ... the guy I brought it from said the battery was a little sluggish , I thought it was spark plugs ... however leaving work yesterday after a couple of laps of the carpark a clicking when I press on the accelerator developed ... not very loud , but today the clicking is when I press the break 🤷🏻‍♀️, Any help very much appreciated
***update - So full service done , spark plugs changed got told they looked like they never have been changed .... car is performing much better ... however occasionally it still drags to pick up speed ... it seems to struggle more after coming round a bend ? When it struggled today to pick up speed I put it into neutral then back into drive and it shot forward ? was able to drive home without any further issue ... any ideas ?

Hi Annmarie Puckering, I think my next port of call would be the injectors (they spray the fuel), or coils (which make the spark plugs spark). The injectors will often make a clicking noise when they are starting to fail as they are an electrically operating solenoid valve, you can put a cleaner in the fuel which could help remove some old deposits.
Assuming in the service they would have changed all the filters and plugged in their diagnostic tool. sorry I cannot be of more help, its hard to advise when you cant see the car yourself. Ross
