It was the treble, a learner had bumped it not too long before and so when they were ringing it down and accidentally bumped it again, it snapped and went over
@@OwenSimmons323 i had a similar situation however i think that the stay was already broken when i rung it up luckily it was a treble as well but thi treble was tiny and weighs 3-2-12 and has a mouth of 24 and a half inches so it was tiny but the last person that rung it must have smashed it against the hasting stay and broken it and lowered the bell and not told the ringing master

@@bellringer22 yeah that happens more than people expect it's scary though, I've never broken one luckily
I had to replace a stay once because a learner just pulled the bell off backstroke and missed the sally when there was no teacher there
