Great video Matt! I love mine! Every camera these days can produce an awesome image, so I bought the Ember because I wanted a camera that could do something completely different than every other camera. When people watch back the footage in the field on my monitor, their jaws usually drop. Sony forced them to stop using E-mount, but I bought one while they still had them in stock. 4:22 The better workflow is to plug the camera into your computer and edit straight off the camera's SSD using Quicktime to trim the parts of the clips you want to save. Cuts down on a TON of space and is MUCH faster than transferring everything or using the app.
"Every camera these days can produce an awesome image, so I bought the Ember because I wanted a camera that could do something completely different" - Completely agree with this which I why im considering selling my Red to get this and use my Canon C70 as my all purchase A camera.
I also bought the camera. I use it primarily for stock footage, which allows me to maximize its usage without relying on client projects. This setup forces me to consistently create content with it. If I weren't shooting stock footage, I would likely share the frustration of having the camera idle most of the time. The slow-motion footage is impressive but requires post-production to enhance the color. I partly agree with the comments about the dynamic range, but I find it usable. The camera is very easy to use and super light, making it convenient to transport anywhere. The biggest challenge with slow-motion shooting is the need for adequate lighting. Overall, I would rate the camera 8/10.
Thanks for the video Matt! I'm curious if the different ISOs on the camera are equally clean? Or should you generally stick to 100? I'm proposing using this for a shoot at night and trying to calculate the amount of light I should bring. I appreciate your thoughts!
Hi Matt, fantastic footage as always. Question: are there any places on Maui where one can purchase cameras, lenses, tech? I will be leaving UK in less then 24 hours and am still short on some gear. I remember there being a BestBuy but that has closed down, Target is well, missing the target, Walmart perhaps has some basics, and Costco is good for snagging a drone, perhaps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@@WakeUpMatt Sigma 24-70 mk2, DJI osmo pocket 3… As usual, I always leave it too late. If I get enough time I might just go to a store here and pick something up or see if I can source them at the airports. If not, I’ll just bring something like TTArtisan 250mm Reflex mirror lens and do a single lens challenge. Actually it sounds like a plan. Thanks for your reply and keep up the good work. If I see you I’ll try and say hi. I did come across Mic Bergsma couple of times but I chickened out. 🤙
Hey! Tbh there isn’t really anything else close spec wise. There’s the chronos 2.1 and 4k12 camera or a few of the RED cameras might come close to frame rates on the low end. Or you’re looking at a Phantom.
hey Matt the mount is active as in it transmits the F stop but it doesn't have autofocus, is that correct? It would be amazing to have AF but I assume that would be asking too much
Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any questions!

Couldn’t agree more!! And thanks for the tip Matt. That’s a game changer!

5:06 since black magic offers Davinci Resolve for Ipad, is that an option? or can you only transfer the files to a phone?

If you were buying one today, 4TB or the pSLC option? Does the latter offload quicker?

Thanks so much!! Tbh, there’s not too much to find on Maui. I get 99% of my gear online. What were you looking for?

Thank you!!🤘🏼
Did you get solved low transfer speed ? Becouse in camera there is ssd . What freefly saying about that ?
It was recommended to connect the camera directly to the computer and edit the files through QuickTime to save space and time
