Solution was right under my nose. Thank you.
Yessss... I face this problem too... I replace back the old brake shoe cause the brake drum is hard to fit in. Your video safe my time, will do it again this weekend. Tq.
Thank you so much. Thought I really did some damage on a simple brake and rotor change. First glance at this assembly on my 2010 Nissan had me shook. Glad I came across this video!
Mine was a bit different but loosening the spring allowed me to line everything back up to the factory marks properly and VUALLAH!

Thank You Friend !:👍
Glad it helped
I bought new drums for my old truck, which had new shoes and wheel cylinder, but the drums would not fit over the shoes. I thought I'd have to turn them to bring the diameter into tolerance, but your video shed new light on the problem. Thanks!
This is the video i need it to finish my Brake job bro" Thx 🙌
Excellent video. Got me right back on track. Drum roll. Please! 😂
Had my wheels off for something else, drum popped off, now I’m fighting this fight
This solves my problem! Thanks
Must be nice to be able to pop that hub outta the way like that lol The rear brake mechanism on the Trackers/Vitaras is so complex and having that hub in the way makes the job a PITA.
Thanks for sharing, had the adjusters closed in all the way but didn't even think to compress the wheel cylinder
Thanks!, was wondering why so this video saved my evening!!!
great upload this will help a lot,,im having exact same issues ,,,
Im working on my 2011 silverado LT 1500 5.3 liter rear drum brakes. I have same issue. I will try your way. Thank u.
Ty so much buddy
Unfortunately I'm having exactly this problem in a Nissan Versa and even with the bleeder valve open I just can't get the new cylinder to compress enough to let me get the drum back on. This is a real annoying job!
Did you back the brake adjuster down to allow the shoes to compress?
@@PhillipsVision Yes. It's like the new cylinder is spring-loaded. I can't compress it enough, even though the brake line is off.
@@PhillipsVision Looks like it's a case of bad Chinese-made cylinders off of Ebay. You get what you pay for I guess.
Thanks!
I’ve felt like I’m the only one on the planet to have this issue until now.
I did everything you said and made the adjuster gear all the way to the the shortest setting and drum fits kinda but won’t go on the rest of the way
@@tyronebroach5811 Did you bleed the fluid from the wheel cylinder as well? Also, sometimes the drum is too old and can be warped and needs to be replaced.
Do you have to open the bleeder valve or would it work if you take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir?
Open the bleeder valve
@@PhillipsVision great, thanks!
My drum would not fit. When disconnecting the park brake cable I must have put some tension in it. I lifted and released the PB lever a few times and the drum went on.
Don't u have to set your drag on your brake shoes to your drum ?
What do u mean u don't want any slack ,gap when u are moving the lever at the adjuster on your video 5:20 timer ?
You need the brake shoes to be against the inner drum, not pressing against it to the point where it is riding the brake. If you leave too much of a gap between the shoes and inner drum your brake are not going to stop well. Technically the adjuster lever is supposed to self adjust but that doesn’t always work well.
@@PhillipsVision ok. I also notice u didn't set the drag , meaning set the brakes shoes to rub a bit on the drum by rotating the drum and the adjuster. Is your adjuster different like u say automatic?
So if I set my brake shoes as close to 1/4 or less to the drum, would that be considered ok ? In that I mean by using a sliding caliper.
@@losmoore3358 I did set it but you don’t want too much drag. The adjuster should rotate if you hit your brakes while going in reverse and press them slightly tighter.
@@losmoore3358 you’ll have to test it to see if it’s tight enough without riding the brake
This still isn’t doing it please help
Did you release pressure from the wheel cylinder so the shoes retract completely?
