"I will not kneel to this...thing"
*Less than a minute later*
"Can you tell it to stop?"
Funinightmare I love how Celembrimbor says “One does not reason with the wind”
Celebrimbor showed no fear to Sauron, Galadrieal(fighting with eltariel would have made her mad), Shelob, or the Balrog but he showed great fear for Carnan. Man she must be extremely powerful
He knows she is unbeatable
She is not just a spirit as you see her. Or just a mere dryad. She is the forest, the wind, the seasons, the dirt, the life force and all that is the forest. She can take humanoid form. But she is all that is nature. She cannot die. You would have to Destroy most of the world and it's ozone to destroy the Earth's abilities to have seasons to "kill" the spirit of Carnan. Even then if one seed is left in the soil after. She will live. And like nature always does. She will thrive again in time. Like Celebrimbor says "she was here before us, and will most likely be here long after we die".
“The spirit of Carnan has witnessed Middle Earth’s devastation and its’ revival many times over. She was here before any of us, and she will be here long after we have perished.”
She is probably a entiry Alike ungolianth or Tom Bombabil
it think its more the nature of her power than the scope of it, with the other you mentioned yes they are strong but you can (in theory) just stab them enough times and they will die. but you cant exactly stab a forest
A tree vs a fire breathing dragon. It's like bringing a knife to a machine gun fight.
So how did she win? Plot armor
More like a piece of paper to a flamethrower fight...
Yes but bring a machine gun to a knife fight underwater.
That tree is nature itself. I feel like you don't get that even though it's obvious.
a tree that can indefinitely regrow
Tar Goroth has been lifting weights unlike those other lazy balrogs
Swimming through thick lava really helps build muscle quickly
He is a good distraction and can kill alot in cluding ologs, dragons, orcs, and grays in a small amount of time and he also puts a huge affect on the story
Gray is Graug
@@sandracrow958 Lol
"Press R1 to mount carnan" dont mind if i do, death by snu snu it is.
You get what life is about my man
😂😂😂😂 aaah!! The old death by Snu-Snu I remember it well, then I got married 😂
Man, Glorfindel and Gandalf did it the hard way I guess. All they needed was a large collection of branches and a few quick time events.
And echthelion of the fountain don't forget him he was a badass !
Oh yeah, shit. He got three of the fuckers didn't he? And glorfindel thinks he's hot shit.
no he dueled the prince of the balrog while being heavily harmed and ended him with a headbutt ( not joking here ) , he died after but that was a metal way to go .
Except, Glorfindel just tumbled down the cliff with one, not defeated him in combat.
Well, they didn't have a didn't have a nature demigod at their side.
Well, you could say that Carnan's boss fight is..

YEAAAAAAAH!
Such an underrated series. I pray to God they make and release a 3rd one soon
Feels like some crazy fan fiction that has gone out of controll.
@@PhazonKing yes but it’s fun
They will, but eltariel's gonna have to be the protagonist
@horriblepancake so all we need is a Necromancer?
@@SlyFunkyMonkey yea but were prob 6 plus years out from that game, considering they are making wonder woman right now.
“The spirit of Carnan has witnessed Middle Earth’s devastation and its’ revival many times over. She was here before any of us, and she will be here long after we have perished.”
I love the fact dat Cárnan is speaking in riddles, makes it more interesting.
Spirit of Carnan sounds like Ladies of the wood in The Witcher 3.
But wiki never mention she did VA in TW3, and I checked all 3 VA for ladies of the wood, none of them is Toks Olagundoye
Does she sounds like one of the "Ladies of the Woods" witch from Withcer 3?
She sounds like idubbbz's foreighner accent.
It's a Welsh accent. Just like the Ladies of the woods. They always give the crazies Welsh accents for some reason.
made me think of that too lol, and those branch prisons the uruks are in is like the move that leshens use
It's the same woman actually.
Bruh, it's a Welsh accent...
(Edit: someone beat me to it)
There's actually a lot of Welsh in the Witcher series.
Geralt is the 'white wolf' and is called 'Gwyn Blaidd' by the Elves.. which is Welsh for white wolf.
Oh wow I never noticed in my play through that Celebrimbor powers up Carnan Graug punches with his wraith power
Hey it's momma Groot
WAIT IS SHE AN ENTWIFE?!
"I am Carnan."
@@kennethsatria6607 She takes the form of an Entwife, but she is basically a deity.
12:57 is the closest thing to a Balrog vs. Rancor, we'll probably ever get
There's something about Carnáns voice that I like but I can't put my finger on it.
She is voiced I believe by one of the crimes from witcher 3
Summons a beast made of wood in a volcano. Good plan Carnan
Zog gets cleaved in 2, Still get revived as one. Good plan Zog.
Meepo Bellic well if you cut orc in 2 he can return as the machine
Carnan is the beast of wood. She did not summon it. She can shapeshift to many forms.
@@beren1898 still doesn't help the fact she went into a volcano as a genius move. Wood burns quickly ya kno
@@TehShinegami Well if it is a normal wood, yes. Not wood formed by powerful magical beings reinforced by water (Where is the water? See the glowing blue each time she punched Tar-Goroth). Besides other than woods what else can she become? She did not have much choices.
@@TehShinegami you ever try to burn wet wood? It's really hard to do
This questline is a must do imo. Dragon song (basically summon a dragon at will) is so op. (Most of the time).
I get the feeling Durin's Bane wouldn't have had ANY of that. He would likely have drawn his flame sword and slashed/burnt Carnan in half, then stepped on talion.
Carnan isnt the solid life forms you see, she just takes possession of it and controls it, more or less.
I remember either Talion of Celebrimbor saying something to the effect of Carnan being the life of the forest. At least, I think so. One question: is Carnan a Mayar? If I'm not mistaken, balrogs, istari and even sauron are of the mayar (to which only the valar were greater.
Also, does she die or can her essence exist immaterially like sauron?
Carnan is a Maia, like Sauron(except he is corrupted, but, oh well) and Gandalf. And Gandalf fought Balrog in Moria for 2 days, he killed him but died from his wounds aswell. And Tar-Goroth is stronger than Morian Balrog.
Alright, that makes sense. Definitely makes the fight seem more feasible. At first I thought "This is B.S!". I don't hate this part of the game nearly as much, now. Thank you.
She sounds like Rolf from Ed, Edd and Eddy XD
"Life has many doors *Dead-boy* "
"You have broken the celery stalk on the back of a sea urchin!!!"
"What did she say?"
"SLAKAFA!" *Punch*

Her voice acting was perfect.
Her voice sound like the lady narrator of dark souls series,"yes, indeed".
Carnan best waifu!
Tree rapist
A part of me expected her to speak, "I am Groot!"
How this boi throwin hammers he like thor
Hammers are some ranged weapons that go in the bow slot.
oh cool thanks
4:24 See, when Celebrimbor’s concerned, you know you’re royally FUCKED.
And Gandalf killed one of them by himself will falling and to the top of the mountain (yes think about it he fell down onto a mountain)
What gandalf fought was The Weakest Balrog who cowardly fled during the war of wrath
this is also the king of the balrogs, the absolute strongest and Morgoth/Melkor's other second in command-putting him on par with souron. Gandalf fell to the mountain's root and the fight moved to the mountain's peak, he didn't fall from the mines to the top, he fell to the base of the mines then fought his way up.
@@henrypaleveda7760 this comment was 3 years ago I have no idea what the context behind this was lol but thank for info
@@blueflame3891 sorry- the context is that the aforementioned "tar goroth" was the balrog fought and my comment was about power scale, thank you for being mannered (people can get angry in a hurry).
@@henrypaleveda7760 nothing to get upset about ,you where just informing someone about their mistakes/something they did not know about
I wonder how Radagast the Brown would have interacted with the Spirit of Carnan since theyre both nature/earth-bound maiar.
Balrogs can fly (or leap hundreds of feet and glide with wings of shadow at the very least) and they aren't troubled by ice cold water........and they aren't supposed to be this big (only about twice the height of a man). Although I give them credit for making him look cool and making him persistent
@The God Emperor Himself that's true Mr. POTUS
there is that debate if balrogs even have wings. Since Tolkien's writing had a tendancy to be vague and more "poem"-like, than being specific with details. The wings of shadows mentioned in the books can be interpreted as a figure of speech and not literal wings. There is also the fact that balrogs are claimed to have been riding dragons in the older eras, which seem to contradict the idea that they themselves have wings and can fly. Hell, even the fact that the fellowship escaped Durin's Bane by it falling down a ravine, is a strong argument against the concept of balrogs being able to fly
Btw, the balrog is clearly based of the Peter Jackson movies (as with alot of the other aesthetic designs in the game), hence why it looks like that. I guess making the wings into a transparent flame is a "nod" to the fact that Balrogs were most likely intended to be wingless in their original design in the books
So what? It doesn’t matter if it’s that accurate. It’s a game.
@@pixwool😂plus I feel there are bigger inaccuracies (shelob for example)
...You know, I'm not sure if this is what Tolkien thought about when writing LOTR...
the spirit of Carnan seems to me less Manichean than what Tolkien would have written ...
@@efaristi9737 I don't follow.....everything Tolkien wrote was about a conflict between light and dark, it was his unique style. But when he wrote about the forests he made them along more neutral lines
Valthirian Sunstrider
I do not know, when we see the Ents and the Old Willow Man, we can not really say that they are neutral: the Ents massacre the Orcs but leave the Free Peoples alone until they attack the trees . Do not they lean towards good? the Ents are, moreover, generally described as benevolent creatures. While the Old Man Willow is blindly killing anyone who enters his forest and is very clearly described as a bad creature.
@@efaristi9737 Ah, I see what you mean. I meant only that they were more neutral than the other players, but not fully neutral.
Fuck tolkien. So many one dimensional 'fans'. He was the author - now he is dead, its up to others to continue the lore
power has gone to Zog's head if he believes he can usurp the place of one of the most powerful beings in Middle-earth. Even in his weakened state, Sauron remains a mortal enemy.
"Mount Carnan" YES! YES!
Well... maybe no one can tame a Balrog, but from what I know of Lord of the Rings lore, Morgoth had a few Balrogs either serving him or allied with him.
Morgoth is the greatest of the valar and balrogs are lesser maiar, the valar are some of the most powerful beings in middle earth, 2nd only to eru iluvatar. Maiar by comparison are very weak, in fact the only maiar who could even hope to stand a chance against the weakest of the valar is sauron, as sauron is the strongest maiar.
Morgoth brought 5 maiar to his service through deception and corruption, and changed them into the form we know today, but the balrogs are very similar in power to beings like Gandalf, Saruman and Sauron, but are still weaker to them.
Interestingly enough no balrog has died from their wounds or from an opponent. 1 balrog died from drowning and the other 2 died from falling, it is also unclear whether the balrogs truly died or if their spirit lives on, much like how sauron’s spirit lives on.
This Balrog wasn't looking for his fight money.
16:08 praise the sun!
Never noticed before - Carnan and Shelob have the same face. Guess they're both modeled after Pollyanna McIntosh, which probably means she did this voice as well.
The ending would of been better if you defeated sauron by dominating a load of balrogs.
Project Biology Exept that you don't have enough power to dominate s balrog, not even sauron could do that. Hell even melkor never really dominate one, he only corrupted/convicted them to join him.
Even the one in this game isn't dead, just frozen beneath the ice
Iron Wolf good point, but it would be interesting to see one fighting in a siege battle.
Project Biology considering that there only ever were seven, and I thing 3 are dead, one gets killed by Gandalf, and one is on the island holding the fruit that is the sun.
That only leaves 2, one which is in this game
Iron Wolf Your right except according to this game a Balrog can serve an orc necromancer.
FinJproductions he wanted it to, all he did was summon it, it wouldn't have served him, unless it was doing what it wanted because they had common goals, a balrog does what it wants
actually Carnan sounds like the animated Spiders from the Rankin/Bass cartoon of "The Hobbit"
Is she from crookback bog lol
Graug vs Balrog was so goooood
Can't even hit the Balrog with your sword. That's a fucking lame fight. Gandalf hit the Balrog with his sword. Let me hit the Balrog with my sword.
Beas7ie gandolf was also some sort of spirit directly under a god. He isn't normal. You are two normal guys one alive one dead.
Groz'zar Kazoku yep just two normal guys who can teleport, slow down time and make orcs join their army just by hitting them a bit and then touching their face. Sounds pretty normal to me.
You get to fucking box a Balrog, how is that not awesome?
Wait a minute you think 2 dead guys cohabitating a body with crazy wraith powers controlling beasts, throwing spirit hammers, and fighting the Balrog like that is LESS normal than just hitting it with their magic swords?
I really have no proper response to your crazy train of thought?
Besides normal or not, what's it matter? I just want to hit with my sword. I like hitting things with my sword. If I'm on a drake its just so I can get to my enemies faster so I can hit them with my sword sooner. If I can't hit them with my sword then I don't wanna fight them.
I also use knives, spears, axes and other melee weapons if no swords are available.
so you hate the fight because you can't use your main weapon on it because you like to hit things with swords man you would suck in a real Army hitting them well not always do it even if it is Magic
Fantastic shadow of war cutscenes video.
it would be speechless if there was a dlc where u can play as the Bal-rog, that was awesome. i think its a little annoying that the balrog only manefested a whip, in the movie he also used a fire sword, i mean shouldn't this one do that too.
Balrogs are actually the same species is Gandalf and Sauron. They're individuals with different weapons and fighting styles.
Should at least write her as Yavana's Maiar and her voice really.... it just doesnt have that ring to it.
August The Magic King I liked the voice. It sounds distinctly inhuman, but trying to sound like a human. Kinda unsettling
Think it suits her as it's so very nord. And we all know Tolkien took lots of references from scandinavian folklores. It suits her the best i say.
R Yavanna's followers even canon to be on Middle Earth?
It sounds like the American idea of how Scandinavians sound. Two steps shy of Swedish Chef.
Except that if it's a Maia related to Yavana, what does she do in Middle-earth? As far as I know, the only creatures Yavana left in Middle-earth are the Ents.
@@purplebard7349 Oh fuck off
she reminds me of calypso off pirates of the Caribbean
It is such a waste that her nature-version of ridable beasts aren't somehow integrated into gameplay more. Like a Carnan armour-set that changes your mounts into these ones with different stats.
Carnan is my waifu
This game is a blessing for those who played gollum
I love the art...
Wow. Looks like the Dovahkiin got a cameo as a Balrog. Not quite a dragon, but...

Why do Scottish women represent mother nature better than any other women
She is a good example of this. No matter what bad people do to nature🌲🌳they can't kill it and it will keep on fighting.
She makes me think of the Ent Wives.
I'm just baffled that the wings of Balrogs are just flames rather than being biological. So all this time Balrogs don't have actual wings, just a flame construct of them
I’m on that last mission of carnan it’s so hard the hardest mission in the game if you ask me
Firstly, Sauron DOES have the clout to command Balrogs, having always been Morgoth's second-in-command. The Istari were afraid of Sauron finding out about the Balrog because they knew he would do everything in his power to get it out of Moria and leading his armies. So if Tar Goroth was unearthed, he would certainly be serving Sauron.
LordSiravant No he didn't. Morgoth was able to control them indirectly (corrupting them and then using them as shock troops). Sauron didn't have the power to control them. He didnt even have the power to control Smaug, he wanted to merely make a deal with him. Sauron would have certainly used the Balrog in that he would lead it to his enemies, but he had no direct control over it at all. You must remember, the Balrogs are only marginally lesser spirits than he is.
But think about it, Sauron at that time is really weakened because he put so much of his power into the ring and doesn't have it. A balrog, itself a really strong Maiar, wakes up with it's full strength and sees some shade of it's true master Morgoth's army trying to command it?
direct control whatsoever... they still would serve Sauron, cause in the end Sauron serves Morgoth until the end of time until the Last Battle arrives
Not anymore. No Balrog would willingly serve Sauron when they can just rule for themselves.
If Morgoth couldn't crack the whip enough to control the Balrogs then how the hell could Sauron? If anything Sauron might see them as a threat to his leadership.
for me it is big supprised that celebrimbor sugested kneeling before her i thought his pride wouldnt let him do such things
nope, he only let talion do things that will be beneficial to celebrimbor's ambitions no matter how the approach is. celebrimbor was a cool chaotic neutral dude, but in this game he just threw talion under the bus that quick. the thing is, he owe it to talion, without him being at the right place at the wrong time, celebrimbor wouldnt have met anyone with the potential to screw mordor. talion did much of the work and heavy lifting and succeed much of celebrimbor's ambition on his revenge against sauron. in the end, the elven race is selfish through and through.
Gandalf solo'ed one of those?! Damn...
Kyle romus well Gandalf IS a powerful being in Tolkien’s Legendarium, one of the Maiar, powerful spirits only second to the Valar.
Only the weakest one that fled during the War of Wrath.
Yes ride into the fire on a beast made of wood and vines
killing the belrog was alot harder than killing the bosses in god of war
No one can tame a balrog. Ever heard of Morgoth?
To be fair morgoth wasn't anyone he was literally lotr satan
Necromancer's never truly die that is actually true
"not witht he spirit of carnan by our side!"
Very first thing that happens:
balrog:"BITCH BETTER LEARN TO START CATCHING THESE HANDS"

way to hype up her ass whooping
Why is a nature spirit in Mordor of all places?
Balance. Just as lorien was in the shadow of moria
i love the blast bal rog boss battle
Very good....
Imagine if you could of dominated the balrog.
Hey in this mission can call followers/bodyguard to assist you even from afar?
Or maybe while riding the wyvern carry some orcs to this area
Is this part of the main quest if it is I have to use a PS4 controller
Is Carnan an Ent Wife??
Wait so will carnin come back with time as her forest regrows?
The comments are sad...people are never pleased...just ungreatful snot nosed consumers...I thought it was a decent vid👏
sure it is. the only thing I blame is that the game does not respect the lore of Middle-earth.
Éfar Isti
It doesn’t have to respect the lore
It’s not a canon game so it can take any creative liberty with the lore it wants
Not saying this next point is about you
But anyone who dislikes the game based purely on how it doesn’t follow the lore to a T. Sounds like an entitled person who believes any game about a particular series has to follow the lore exactly.
I like it:D
