Had to return mine. Had the same problem but I couldn’t get mine to lock at all. 2 5/16 coupler.

Hi,
I apologize for the delayed response, I haven't been receiving notifications to my email. I'm thinking it's a design flaw because, not all trailers have the exact shape coupler. If you do get it on, be sure to have something to pry it off when you want to remove it. Other wise you won't be a happy person. Thanks for watching!!
