Thanks for this. My weedwacker hadn't been started in 8 years. The gas lines were completely dissolved in the tank and crystalized everywhere else. Your video showed me how it was supposed to work so I am now able to create a brand new gas line and hopefully this old thing will live again.
@@HNXMedia I have to give thanks where it is due. I fished out a bunch of parts that were floating around in the gas tank. Looking back, I think when I put this out for a yard sale one time that someone sabotaged it, breaking off the gas lines and puncturing the bulb. There were some other random parts in the gas tank too. I purchased a new bulb, new gas line, and a filter and used 2 other parts that were in the gas tank debris to hook it all up again and it fired up like it was brand new. Thanks! $12 in parts and your knowledge saved me from buying a new $150 weedeater.
Nice fix! I bought a very long nose needle plier and bent them at about 75 degrees with my torch. It really helps to eliminate about half the cussing involved in fuel line replacements.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose Bent needle nose pliers make it a LOT easier. That is too funny. I actually almost mentioned the fact that “the level of cussing during this project will be directly proportional to your level of access to bent needle nose pliers.” Thanks for the comment, BC! Always love hearing from ya!
good video, thanks. Couple of suggestions. 1./ ensure fuel tubing is 3/32 ID AND 3/16" OD. For the tubing at the 3:00min mark. Feed tubing through bottom of gas tank and out through top of tank, then add filter and push back down through bottom hole in tank. May need to use a hair dryer to help install and ensure washer is up tight to tank.
Just adding my two cents, you can cut the fuel line at a 45 degree angle to help it getting through the hole at the bottom of the tank, it will go right in. Great video, thanks!
Thank you for the instructions sir! Is there an easy way to tell which port on the carburator goes to the fuel tank vs to the primer button? Both of mine are side by side. Also if you have no washer or connector piece to seal up the main fuel tank connection, is that a hard no-go? Mine seemed to not have one or any connector bit on dissassembly, but maybe it needs one/both. (bought it used and it has been a project haha. I'm brand new to tinkering with these little 2 cycle engines. It's kind of fun!)
Greetings, Thanks for the instructions. My is a 25cc and inside the gas tank there is a plastic type nozzle and a loose fuel line. I don't need them, right?🤔 I can just replace the fuel lines, right? (One fuel line is thin and the other is thicker). Thank You.
I used the little white connector and put it on the outside of the tank, pushing it in from the top. Then I connected that to the top return next to the purge bulb. I took out that black plastic weirdness and put that in my unused parts pile. I pushed the new gas line through the larger hole, fished it out of the gas tank opening, put on a new gas filter then fed all of that back into the tank to snt in the bottom of the tank where it will sit while the unit is running. Now when I pump the purge bulb I can see it pump air and fuel out of the top line into the return on the tank, and I see fresh fuel being sucked up to the bottom carburetor feed. It runs like a champ now.
A helpful hint when installing the fuel line before you put it in put a little bit of WD40 on the fuel line it will help it slide through the holes easier. Good video though
I just got the same unit. Your video was great! I was looking for a brush cutter compatible with this unit. Can you let me know what brand/model brush cutter you’re using?
I think you're right. They are probably the same design, off the same line just with different names. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Stay well.
@@mwand89 I don't like messing with other mixes except what is OEM recommended. I have ruined too many small engines with the wrong or bad gas over the years. But i'm just speaking for me.
Thicker fuel line would probably work, but I have never tried it. I don't like to recommend things I have not at least tried myself. I think it is a fine idea.
Kathleen Huff You criticize my video for not "showing enough" and then ask for my help finding out where to buy the lines SMH. Since I'm a gentleman, I'll let you know you can find suitable fuel lines cheap at most hardware stores (Lowes, Home Depot, Ace) and auto parts stores (Auto Zone, Advance). Hardware stores will have them in packs (pretty much "one size fits all" when dealing with weed eaters - you cut the length). Auto stores you typically buy it off a spool "cut to size" of however long you need. If you do not live near any of these stores, just buy a length off Amazon and cut to size. I hope this helps (despite your sarcasm). Peace.
Some journey you took us on. More like a field trip to the local park. That would be like me posting a video of me standing in front of a blank chalkboard, telling RUclips, "Cmon kids lets find what the square root of 75 is", pause the video, then queue back in and 8.66 is all that's written on the board talking about, "There you have the kids... 8.66 is a square root of 75"

How do you connect that last fuel line to the tank? Is there a fitting on the end?

@@HNXMedia just trying to make things easier for people. That's what we do.
I wish they sold the gas tank and lines already installed? Do they ?
Not that I have ever seen.
I wonder why they don’t use fuel line grommet assemblies like Echo which makes replacement of fuel lines a bit easier…
I wish they would too.

Even though it's a Craftsman, but it looks like a Ryobi 700r series.

@@HNXMedia and btw, can I use canned premixed 50:1 fuel for an old gas trimmer that's originally mix ratio of 32:1?

@@HNXMedia okay, but I just hope it won't cause issues when I try.
How far do you insert the last hose into the fuel tank? Does it just stay in by itself?
Till it reaches the other side of the tank( the bottom)
Do you have to use that washer ? or can you just use thicker fuel line?
Thicker fuel line would probably work, but I have never tried it. I don't like to recommend things I have not at least tried myself. I think it is a fine idea.
