- When it comes to divorce within the Muslim community, there are a lot of stigmas and stereotypes that come with it. As a woman, it can be difficult to navigate through this process - but it's not impossible. In this video, Maya Hussein and I explore some of the most common stigmas and stereotypes associated with being divorced as a Muslim woman, and offer some advice on how to deal with them.

Hi Mai, I think you should do more interviews with women who have had interesting life experiences whilst a part of the Arab/Muslim community. This was an interesting one to listen in to. Great job.
I never comment on RUclips video. This is such a powerful conversation. Thank you Maya for opening yourself because divorce isn’t an easy topic to discuss. I grew up in a toxic masculinity community and meeting my now Syrian husband it was vital we broke down those gender role and throw away all the negative patterns from our culture backgrounds. Much love to you Mai and Maya ❤️
Thank you for bringing attention to this topic. Fortunately, I married a great man. We’re both Syrian and although not Muslim, this stigma is still very much alive in middle eastern communities I think regardless of religion. Two of my favorite ladies ♥️♥️
thank you so much for sharing appreciate the love
It is not a stigma because the distastefulness of divorced women stems from things that are true.
Love to see a podcast that has a safe space to discuss taboo topics in our culture. Love you both. Mai thank you for an amazing episode and Maya thank you for being vulnerable and having the courage to share your story in hopes to help others. ❤
I was in the same boat as Maya. The second we got married he just changed into this abuse monster.
The shame I felt and the taboo of divorce in Arab culture made me stay too long in it. I’m glad she got out and is doing well.
Thank you for shining light on this topic ladies ❤
It takes a truly brave person to share their experience with domestic violence specially women from the M.E. ❤ as a middle eastern woman myself I really thank you Maya for sharing this because there are a lot of women out there who need to know that they’re not alone and that they can leave those relationships.
amen thank you so much
My two favourites are here together!! ❤❤❤ enjoyed the podcast so much! Keep it up ladies 👍🏻👍🏻
Love you guys together! This was a great episode!
Wow Maya’s story is so inspiring 😮. Love this podcast
So glad Maya spoke about divorce. There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with being divorced. I respect people who decide to leave relationships that they’re not happy in. Why should we settle? Screw what people have to say seriously! Settle and be unhappy for people? This is why we raise our children to be empowered and educated so they can know their worth. We love and treat them good so they know what love really means, so when they see a red flag they RUN! im proud of you Maya!!! you deserve the best. and for anyone who’s unhappy and feels stuck please reach out to organizations that help and support women. Reach out to your local mosque or church. Don’t let anyone manipulate you with how you should be “patient” God does not expect us to keep up with ANYONE who’s toxic. especially our partner who’s supposed to be there for us. See a therapist and believe that you can do it.
Preach 💕
So happy I found this podcast great content.
Loved this! Hope you guys get the opportunity to come to Australia soon!
Wow Maya you’re truly beautiful inside and out. You expressed yourself so eloquently. Thank you for sharing your story sending you love!
What a great conversion ladies! We have to break through these “taboo topics” so we can learn from each other’s experiences. I do research with Arab immigrants and hear crazy stories from women that clearly needed help and guidance. Keep it going ladies!
I've been binge watching you, and I absolutely adore your content. So refreshing. New subbie here.

Two inspiring girls ❤can’t wait to listen to this one
thank you! excited to hear your feedback
We have to protect our women and stop worrying about what others are going to label them. A few months ago a young Muslim lady ran away from her husband her family shamed her. He ended up finding her and took her life. This happens way to often and we stay silent it’s not okay!!!
A very heartfelt conversation ❤
thank you
Maya ❤❤❤❤ send you so much love and support.

Love Maya, she makes me laugh so much. Her jokes are my childhood, and it makes me sad to hear her story. She certainly deserves all the great things. Mashallah ya May, barak allah fik Inshallah!

Love you both ❤️
I wish I was brave like her! Thank you for this ❤
you are brave. thank you
I enjoyed watching this. Thank you! I do have a (hopefully constructive) criticism:
I wished that May as a host would let her guest finish talking at some points. I feel that just listening for a few more seconds it would have been more precious for the audience. There were also some points were I think that a little more sensitive language would be appropriate. For example where you are generalizing truck drivers.
But all in all I likes the moderation and the flow between you guys. Thank you.
thank you so much for sharing! sometimes its hard in a give and take conversation not to interrupt but ill keep that in mind appreciate it
Love you both

always 2 sides to a story - no smoke without fire
Well most of the Asians, Arabs face the same problems during and after divorce.
we are also being told that for Muslim Woman is not encourage.
But if its to happens what can one do.
May Allah also the ladies.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
The comments that hurt ppl why guys!!!
Maya is amazing
she is truly
I think Maya was brave to share her story with the world and have divorce not be stigmatized in the arab community. However her raising her flip flop and saying that’s culture and getting hit by your parents is arab culture and okay - is not ok. It’s 2022 let’s move on from abusing your children and also from the negativity of divorce
I guess what I was trying to imply in my video is that when you see a flip flop in my videos that I create … that was my environment and people are getting upset. Of course I get some people won’t get it or understand but for me I smile when I think about it and wish I can go back in time. Thank you for comment and support for Mai and I 💕💕
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💞💞
and I love your mom❤️
Mai shocked the whole time like she lives in a bubble and never had anything bad happen to her. Delusional is the word.
