You skipped a small part for the beginners: When connecting to the ExpressLRS network for the first time you need to fill in a password, which is ‘expresslrs’
Excellent video. I've been trying to convince a couple family members into moving away from legacy radio systems. They always complain about the poor reliability, but struggle with the idea of something unfamiliar.
Thanks a lot for the video. Very clear and straight forward. I've just moved across to open source radio control and it does feel a little daunting. Vídeos like yours are a life saver for the community. 🙏❤
Thanks Lee. I don't have ELRS but am considering it and videos like this show me just how easy and, well, painless (!) it can be. I have so many Spektrum, Frsky, Crossfire & Radiomaster receivers that it's difficult to justify but, apart from Crossfire, I am thinking about just ebaying all the receivers from models I care about and replacing with ELRS. Or do I just pony up for digital FPV? This hobby eh!
Lee. Another excellent video. Has the binding process gotten any easier in the past year. I'm still using TBS crossfire and their binding and set up procedures are simplicity itself. 😊
Crossfire is still the gold standard IMHO. I am planning a video on showing new ELRS pilots the two ways that you can bind now, so you have moved that one up the list! :D
Thanks for another video in the RX on ELRS. I noticed, at least with the RM RP receivers there's a whole bunch of new telemetry sensors including a 1RSSI which seems to be the one to use instead of the default RSSI
Great video as always. I love ELRS receivers, at first it was confusing but once you learn, it becomes very easy to bind and update, i have 14 quads with ELRS. I'm installing a Radiomaster pwm E5 on an rc car and want to use my Boxer transmitter, question, do i plug in my steering servo to channel 2 on my RX? I want to use my Boxer for all rc.
Great info!! What’s the process on the transmitter for a tx16s? If I get a RadioMaster Ranger Micro 2.4GHZ ELRS Module, do I simply plug it into the compartment on the back and choose external RF in the setup? Or is there also firmware needing flashed onto the TX16s as well?
How do you always know what I'm gonna do next??! I should just ask you next time what I'm gonna be working on, so i can buy all the stuff and I'm ready to watch the videos. I recently decided to build a fixed wing with ELRS. NONE of which I've done before.... Einstein would call this spooky actions at a distance. Maybe we are entangled?
When I try the initial flash using ExpressLRS Configurator on my computer the connection to the receiver' WiFi breaks my internet connection so the Configurator fails to flash because it can't download the firmware (the log shows an error at the beginning of the build phase). My workaround is to start the flash before I connect to the receiver WiFi, then when it starts to build I connect to the receiver WiFi and it works. This is only a problem with the initial flash because once you set the receiver's WiFi info you don't have to connect to the receiver wifi access point.
Updated 3 x ELRS receivers very recently - had no trouble with 2x Radiomaster RP3's but never managed to get the BetaFPV Super D to work despite trying several methods - I may just have been unlucky
Hey guys, i have a radiomaster er4 and if i Upload It the Same way like in Video(i always do It like in the Video with my other ELRS systems). But when I do that, its says Not enough space. Does sb know what I can do against it?
Two common fixes. You are trying to jump too many versions, so flash with an intermediate version. Or, try using something like Betaflight pass thru... Best of luck
Hello, I updated my generic ESP8285 2.4Ghz receiver and my Jumper TPRO radio, I receive the message that the radio connected, but the receiver light keeps blinking 3x, I can't get the solid light. The only command that works via the radio is to turn on the receiver's WiFi. Does anyone know how to solve it? The tx-rx, rx-tx wires.
Its really hard to beat ELRS now they have PWM rx's. 15 bucks and you have rediculous range and battery telemetry plus assignable channels. 30 bucks using matek converter and you have rediculous range, gps, current and voltage and 10 channels.
so your not saying if your receiver doesn't have a name How do you update it If its not in the list For eg Banggood selling and elr nano receiver No make model only says ELRS MINI 2 SX1280 ELRS MINI What do i select in order to update this And if it were to detect and give you the firm What about the Tx how does it Bind I ask Because its been over a year since i used elrs I am having the issue were i cant find the correct model Cheers Mine says this, so what do i select? Type: ISM ESP8285 processor
Have a look at the firmware type already installed via the WiFi page on the RX. Also, you could check with the vendor or the ExpressLRS forums. I'd strongly suggest using hardware from vendors who work with the project and get integrated, better quality hardware will give you a better and simpler experience.. See vendors like RadioMaster and the others listed in the firmware flasher for options. Happy flying
Having the ExpressLRS wifi up, the "Choose file" link flat out doesn't open a dialog. The build file is on my desktop. The second time thorough, it remembered the password, that's probably why Painless forgot it. You only need to remember it once. This sure is a painful process. Wow.
one brand i won't mention but many may know , but there is not enough space to load elrs , tried there recovery module and no matter what it says not enough space and i have 4 of them . bought another brand and no issue's . waste of money and they wouldn't give me a refund. also tried the partion deal no difference . bad run on product possibly not sure but after emailing them they said get there recovery module well that was a waste of money.

Excellent addition. I've pinned this comment. Thanks again!

Thanks for your help on this Lee. Way above and beyond what I expected.
Very welcome! It'll help others, I'm sure. Thanks for the question.... Happy flying!
It simplifies the process drastically indeed.
Have a great weekend mate ❤
Nicely explained, straightforward, simple - cool, thanks a lot!
Thanks a bunch for all the instructions, Lee! Really excellent video! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I have a very old brain and find it difficult to setup elrs rx on till now you make it so easy so thanks mate

Exact same process. Only change is that you use the ExpressLRS LUA script on the radio to 'Enable WiFi'
Best of luck
@@Painless360 thanks for the reply. do you have or know of a video for these steps for the WiFi enabling in the tx16?
Not yet, I'll add it to the list.
@@Painless360 thank you very much!! I get a bit nervous flashing stuff on my controller so a tutorial would be amazing

Flashing from the configurator saves a few steps if you connect your receiver to wifi first
When I try the initial flash using ExpressLRS Configurator on my computer the connection to the receiver' WiFi breaks my internet connection so the Configurator fails to flash because it can't download the firmware (the log shows an error at the beginning of the build phase). I've occasionally had to try a few times with a couple.. Restarting and reconnecting usually works. Best of luck
Hi Lee. I have about 6 betafpv micro 2.4 rx. They all flashed no problem apart from one which won't go into WiFi. Is there a way to reset it please?
It has a bootloader that can't be damaged so it can still be flashed, see www.expresslrs.org/quick-start/unbricking/
@@Painless360 great thanks
How can you check the correct type of reciever that you need to update ?
Look at the list in the ExpressLRS docs for a list of targets, and use the WiFi page on the Rx to see the current target installed is... best of luck
@@Painless360 Thankyou very much for your atention.
Hey there, my ER8 won’t show up on WiFi after I put my home WiFi info into the settings. How do I get the Rx to show up on WiFi again?
This is why I never add elrs stuff to the home WiFi. See the unbricking process in the docs... Best of luck
