I don't understand, a lot of these places are paid by section-8. The housing authorities are supposed to be inspecting these properties.. Our taxes pay for all this, when are we going to hold the government accountable for their non actions???
Exactly. The city of Houston getting involved as if they weren't previously involved. Considering they probably pay a portion of those renters payments. Plus, an apartment complex is like any other type of business. They too have to have inspection of their properties, correct ? So, I'm not sure y ppl are applauding this poor attempt to remove their hands from this negligence.
This is clearly a good thing generally but the residents need to be responsible too, for maintaining a better environment also. But I appreciate the city stepping up some.
Anyone who is renting and is dealing with deplorable conditions/Slumlords (Property Owners), should be placing their rental monies in Escrow, until these Slumlords bring the property into compliance. There should be hefty fines assessed for EACH day they are NON-COMPLIANT. Start posting the Slumlords names and Property names & locations on Social Media to warn others. No one should have to live in these type of conditions.
"run all criminals out." As if they just disappear. Do stupid people ever think about how plans get executed, how things work, what happens at the end of it all? Jesus. You are dumb.
Why did it take sh*t hitting the fan before the city took action?! The people living there said the deplorable conditions have persisted forEVER and their complaints largely ignored.
Need to go after the Mayor and the City Council responsible for the district of for the "Nasty" apartment complexes. How long has the Mayor been in office? Exactly.
I don't even live in Houston glad the Mayor and the others stoping these slumlords I know a few weeks ago I saw the Mayor at a Brand New apartment complex downtown Atlanta so don't just go to the newly built properties GO TO ALL OF THEM ESPECIALLY THE OLDER APARTMENT COMPLEXES
Funny thing about this. The mayor BEEEEEEN INVOLVED. This definitely not the first complex of ppl to come forth. Now that it's gotten that attention, he's wanting to do something. More than likely this apt is income based, so THEY definitely BEEEEEEN KNOWING .
Read between the lines….these apartments are where most of the criminals are clustered at. If they can shut down all the cheap, section 8 housing 1/3rd of all the criminals in Houston will have no choice but to leave as well.
@@Dj.MODÆO not, the crime is all over. Stop the DAs revolving door and you could shut some of it down. If I know I am not going to jail, it doesn’t matter where I live, if I am a criminal.
I can't believe what I'm hearing. I stay in some apartment in Houston when yall coming to mine. And thank you for finally helping and not just putting us in jail. U want to a better relationship with your city not just some of the city tha hole city show them u care and this is a good start.
Think about the people who shop for apartments online from different places those pictures are from 1988 when the property was is good shape... imagine you pay for an apartment and get there and it's deployable... 😢
They should be arrested for abuse (child and elder abuse) for unsafe and deployable living conditions (heat, mold, rats, roaches) causes respiratory problems and infections and the mental and emotional stress of living in such conditions,...... And if All else Fails, Make the Owners and the Landlord live there, in the Worst Unit's without any repairs or the removal of the rats, roaches, or mold...... Let them share the experience and live like the apartment residents daily.... Until they fix them completely from top too bottom, with new everything.
I'm seeing answers to my prayers 🙏 . LORD expose the snakes 🐍. . Knock down the walls of coruption . .and bless the leaders who are now stepping up ! . To speak up. . Give these tenants the peace to life in safety and healthy accommodations.
They need to pay for Motels, for all the residents, until the apartments are completely cleaned (mold, rats and roaches), with new appliances, carpets etc, and they should get free rent for 2 year's with no rent increases or retribution, the is shameful and painful, I can't imagine what they have gone through.
They're going to have to stay on those Owner's and need to make their names, and photos public, so that people, including the Owners family and friends can hold them responsible/accountable, and they can't hide their dirty deeds anymore.
I need some one to come over here to 3814 Lyons Ave they are trying to put people out they say everyone owe over two thousand dollars these are elder people itis dark spot outside where you cant see your legs walking these people are not doing their jobs but trying to put everyone out
How about y'all start going after the nasty nursing homes and go after APS oh I'm sorry I forgot y'all are involved too cause y'all getting the kick back off these elderly Social Security and veterans checks woe to yall.
Higher rent and EVERYONE EVICTED. The CITY OF HOUSTON KNEW ABOUT THIS. THEY PAY RENT THERE IM WILLING TO BET. the city of Houston is WHO empty the dumpsters, but they didn't know ? They pay a portion of these renters rent, so they more than likely know of these conditions.
They should also go after apartment owners' predatory parking practices with regard to predatory towing and charging practices.
$25 a month just to park within the property. No vip, or if VIP nowhere near where u live... Scam all day everyday, over here..
@@dunique26 plus towing legitimate guest of "paying tenants" at a crippling cost of about $300 to get their vehicle back.
They get a cut of that...
As a deliverer, some apartment complexes are scary
THANK YOU MAYOR FOR HELPING THEM, ITS SAD THEY GOT TO BE REPORTED TO FIX IT!

People rather blame entire races for issues. It helps them sleep at night vs knowing the government they love, hates them.

I’m not sure wit these are section 8 apartments but like any other federal or state government work, I’d imagine they privately contract it out.

Stfu slumb lords been around for years

It's a lot of slum Lord here in Houston they have ppl paying all tht money to live in squalor that's a shame
I can’t imagine how happy the children subjected to living in these places will be. Children are greatly impacted by living in run down areas/homes.
Nobody asking the right question, do these tenants still have to pay rent.
Yes... but can establish an escrow account, with distribution designate by the court
@@rurome2151 exactly.
They should get free rent, for a 2 year's, with no rent increases or retribution for reporting the awful living conditions.
Too bad they can't clean up the area around the greyhound bus station in Houston.
They could but Turner is working on HISD which is not His Job.
North Dallas should do the same, first place to start, apartments located across the street near Veterans Affair hospital.
The management company most likely will be fired
Wonderful work Mayor and team!!!

Allow the criminals to go free, while the law abiding citizens are seeing more government harassment.
