Yeah SPT's quality was the thing that made me quit online Tarkov. The SPT developers take quality of life way more seriously than BSG and I just got more and more frustrated with EFT's long-standing issues.

Lawrence, not sure if you knew at the time of this recording but the devs changed the wording of its contract to make it that this DLC isn’t considered DLC in the eyes of the contract (what ever it’s called). So they damn well knew what they were talking about future DLC being free for EOD players and now this one not being free; there was no miscommunication there at all!
I'm surprised they didn't touch on the website editing. Saw a video of a streamer checking out the site and the site edited out a lot of stuff and even took out stuff from the 'DLC' page of the site to support BSG's statements. I've put my own couple hundo hours into Tarkov and would've gone back if they fixed it (less likely after they doubled-down the first two times). But after seeing that edit (and the 'date' at the top to show the last time it was edited also remained unchanged), that was much too shady. Way way. No matter what they do, never again.
Lawrence is 1000% correct; people would in fact pay $250 or more if you just wined and dined them! Just look at GTA Online / FIFA Ultimate team both are essentially “pay to win” and have players who are EASILY spending $250 annually and that’s not even talking about Whales who are probed by spending $1,000+. Remember people would never pay for a $30 cheeseburger individually, but people would love to spend $50 for a cheeseburger while they’re eating at a 5 star restaurant. Misinfo that needs correcting: 1) The Unheard edition is only $250 for those that haven’t bought any edition of the game EOD owners only had to pay the difference between their version and the unheard edition which is $100. The same was true of any other editions that were bought that they only had to pay the difference to get Unheard, not the full cost 2) EOD was priced at $150, not $100 3) BSG has primarily DMCA’d content creators who featured an unofficial mod known as SPT which allows players full progression in an offline mode they can play by themselves 4) They did not offer the 50% discount to EOD owners until the day after the original post made by Nikita 5) At 5:55, I’m unsure what Lawrence is referring to, but if he’s saying priority matchmaking existed for EOD owners previously, this is completely false. EOD owners have never had priority in matchmaking queues and this was merely an attempt to add something to EOD to make it more “special” like many felt it was supposed to. The thing which was especially silly about all this was that EOD owners received the Arena game for free, something that is completely separate from the base game and also does not require you to buy EFT in order to play it. That could be very easily argued as not being DLC. However, the PvE mode is quite literally a clickable link you use within the same game to play a different mode and which requires having purchased EFT in order to play it. That is the cognitive dissonance which pissed off EOD owners so intensely. It feels more like BSG realized they should’ve monetized Arena to EOD owners and are now trying to make up the windfall for that by monetizing something they shouldn’t. There’s also a lot of nuance to the discussion of whether increased stash and pocket sizes are P2W. What was pay to win and made many people upset was an item that was said to be released in a future update that would allow players to “call-in” their friends to a raid they’re actively in to assist them. This fundamentally upsets the entire flow of gameplay and is very necessarily going to alter the experience for other players who did not own that version of the game, very necessarily making it a P2W advantage.

You can't claim anything in Stellar Blade was censored, there is so far no evidence that the devs were forced to change anything against their will, until we hear further from them on the matter. Game does blatant Pay-2-Win and backtracks on previous promises -> Massive backlash and huge media attention -> They fix it, put out an apology and now they have twice the audience along with RUclipsrs following up with videos like "Is it FIXED?" or "Tarkov in 2025" where "Tarkov" has now become a buzzword.. Not saying this is the case of course, but are we as a community as quick to anger as we are to forgetting, that developers can cash in on free marketing?
To those wondering SPT is free if you own the game, is constantly updated, has a bunch of mods and is actually fun solo and with friends. Far more enjoyable that dealing with cheaters and all of BSG’s bs.
Really wanted it to be good, Tarkov was so fun when I first started playing. But the cheaters really killed the fun. Now, I have no reason to ever touch it again. That’s really sad.

I have played the game, but modded, you can play pve only with friends with a modded client, you need to own the game to run the client but that means you don't have to pay 250 for a game
Been having a lot of fun with gray zone never played tarkov but I had 4 friends give up on it and told me about gray zone, it’s fun, yes it has bugs but the game has alot of potential

It wasnt on any other edition to play offline co-op with a friend unless they had the EOD edition of the game. There is nothing they can say to cover that fact an with this new edition they pulled offline co-op for EOD to add it for a price.

I was just getting into learning Escape From Tarkov when I read about this, so I'll be uninstalling it. If anyone is looking for a similar game beyond Grey Zone I would recommend Marauders. Its not exactly the same but its super fun and needs more attention cause its in space.
"BEST" thing about this whole thing is probably that the PvE mode is purely handled online, so in this mode that is just you vs. AI bots etc. would still be ultimately killed off, the day they decide they'll have to shut down the servers... Ah yes, that sounds like something I would love to pay more than 4 times the price of a "regular" AAA title. Or so we just call it a AAAAAAAAAA gamemode?

It's a live-service game but they've been selling it like it isn't. Customers can recognize value for money (thus the large portion of players who have EoD), but the new edition clearly reduced the value of previous purchases. Customers are going to rebel when you ask them to pay for something they've been told they already paid for.

I checked and its all false information, its only $10 or less for PVE.
Not that it changes much of the reporting or the merit of this story, but the reported prices weren't quite right. EOD was $140 and they offered upgrading to Unheard for the difference. All the complaints are still valid no matter the price.
If you pay them that amount of money, your the reason game companies raise prices on games not being reasonable. Vote with your wallet
