As someone that purchased Edge of Darkness back in 2017, i have long since given up on Tarkov. The game was stuck in an infinite loop of being milked by its devs and will never be what it was once hoped to be

And yeah, early on every cheat provider in existence (and everyone with knowledge and spare time for that matter) threw out cheap or free tarkov cheats as everything had been clientside - so people had been solely flying around with godmode and aimbot for the first few weeks.

Cash grabbing in my Unreleased Beta game btw. Game began to die when their response to hatchet runners was to have the AI run across the map just to mow them down. Their decisions have always been unreasonable and never worked in the long run.
Them removing the verbiage that EOD would receive future DLC is criminal and they should be prosecuted for it.

It doesnt even make sense. At that point why would anyone even start playing it knowing its gonna be locked in 6 months? The whole point is its for people who are busy and cant grind as much and dont want wipes so that they can progress over a long period.

@@anonimus370 Incursion Red River, which was previously in development under the name Project Quarantine as a standalone tarkov coop experience for 2 years or so (and then got rebuilt from the ground up in the past months - one of the first announced titles). BSG only saw that it sells and decided to quickly put together a coop mode as well and sell it absolutely overpriced - sole reason IRR exists is because they went from "we'll make a coop mode later for everyone" to "we won't make a coop mode", Incursion released for 13$ and is now like 16.50 without the release sale in pre-alpha, absolutely solid title for coop even tho still missing a lot given it's state obviously.
Also the IRR team supports modding, which already is a huge step up, a few smaller mods already released, not sure if anything big will release before the actual medic system (or an early adaptation for it) is going to get an official release tho.
Don't forget Tax. 250 = 300 dollars or more depending on your area

I am so glad you made this video. Literally just yesterday I was thinking about Tarkov. I stopped playing a few years back. Right before Lighthouse came out. I think a big part of it was that I started playing with some friends, and they were taking it really seriously. We started building the bases and going for high ticket items and missions. But I kind of just liked having fun with the game. Before I got them into it, I wasn't rich, but I was loving it. Then streamers were beating the entire thing in a weak, so they started raising the requirements for everything, and I felt like I was no longer making progress. And they kept talking about the new map, but weren't releasing it because we needed vest #294. And just a whole list of things I was getting tired of
But I thought maybe I could have some fun with it again. See what's up... Now I've lost interest.
Meanwhile, I've played quite a bit of Arena Breakout on my phone. It did feel like just the mobile Tarkov. So if they can make a good PC version, I'm down for supporting them.
I find it very strange that an offline PVE mode is not just part of the main base game. You should not have to spend 150 (or 250!) dollars to be able to get a coop/offline PVE mode in this Beta. Doesn't make any sense.
Single player/Coop PVE should be a basic feature for everyone, not a DLC or a feature for an incredibly expensive edition. This is so asinine and greedy on Battlestate behalf to lock such a simple thing behind a huge paywall.

this change from what i can tell means that if you buy the 250$ pack you dont even get access to arena (which is a bad game but still)

something that never gets brought up that I think I should mention is that Tarkovs server setup was destined to bankrupt them one day. They rent their servers from various smaller (and frankly crappy) server providers like GoDaddy and LeaseWeb. This setup first of all only gives them bottom of the barrel servers and it actually costs them an insane amount of money every month. Bsg would have been in a significantly better financial and technical position if they had gone iron (built their own servers) early on. To run servers with lets say a rough 100k players (even after this they are still above 100k so they are actually paying way more than the upcoming example) its going to cost them somewhere in the ballpark of 2.5 million a year on the cheap side all the way up to 12.5 million on the expensive side depending on how many game instances they can run on one server (examples are for 5 and for 1 per server). This is before you factor in maintenance fees, electric fees, cooling fees, backup servers, test servers, new rentals, update fees etc. Now if they instead had gone iron and built their own server hubs they initial cost would have been higher a top of the line server (for gaming needs) today is around $2k say they put 800 servers into each server farm that's $1.6 million then to build the building you are looking at around $500k - $1mil depending on location and government. so to establish servers all around the world to support their player base you are looking at about a dozen or so location to support 100k players you are looking at a total startup cost of $2.6 million times 12 or 31.2 million dollars on the expensive side. However the cost to keep these server farms running after the initial startup cost is $30k a year per building or around $360k a year for the entire setup meaning they would save a metric shit ton of money in the long run have a system they could control and bring up and down as needed without waiting for a provider, upgrade the system whenever they want both software and hardware as well as ensure they are using top of the line gear so the player base gets the best experience. I know its hard for a company to pull the trigger on something like this early on especially if they don't know how well the game is going to do overall but they should have started looking into it as some point on this journey instead of continuing to fork over millions to crappy server providers. Also worst case if the game fails and dies they can then rent those servers out to other companies and make a killing or sell them off and get all their money back.

I have played only SPTarkov since it became available, I don't have time to "Git Gud". I have always wanted to play PVE co-op with my dad, but there is absolutely no way I will pay this much for it. I would pay alot, but not $250!

People have been saying streamer accounts have had "high priority matching" as well as sbmm fuckery to give them easier lobbies and bsg fanboys said "thats not a thing in tarkov" and now we know not only is it a thing, its already implemented.
The only scenario that makes sense is that Arena bombed hard and didn't earn nearly enough BSG has projected. Now Nikita has shareholders hemorraging money and no quick way to earn them, hence this god awful bundle that is designed to quickly generate cash.

If they literally sold it as a $60 standalone, I would have three friends who are casual gamers like me who would try PvE co-op Tarkov. There is NO way they would spend $250 on ANY game. Whatever this is. How can any person think that this was a good idea? It's hilarious and sad at the same time. And then, to rub salt in the wounds with a pathetic 6 months access. This is how the last 1300 of us still playing the culling felt when they went free to play then tried a per match fee and fumbled the whole dam game instead of selling it as is to epic games !

SPT actually doesnt have coop btw. also, the SPT game or w/e doesn't get you banned. been using it for years now
Just a little request, can you cover ISMC2 project arbusto because it would make people aware of it. I’m not a dev or anything but I just want the mod to get some love. It’s basically a better ISMC but not many people know about it so there’s a limited number of servers. If you could do just a 10 minute video in local play, it would really help out the mod. Thanks

Not a Tarkov player (bought it in 2018, have played it maybe 4 times since then) but I notice that a lot of these features they are using to sell these editions are nowhere near implementation.

Guys, we finally have the Tarkov killer. After several attempts made by several studios, both AA and AAA we finally have the game that will bury Tarkov, a worthy competitor. That game? Tarkov. Tarkov just Tarkov'd Tarkov. I never thought this day would come, but it did. Now Nikita can do something else, which is what he's been wanting to do since 2021 - GG Nikita, you finally got your wish.

The only explanation that makes sense imo: High attention to details makes development prohibitively expensive. No money left to finish the release version as Arena was the last hope. Microtransactions failed to cover costs: the audience is too grown-up. Had to go back to proven monetisation method of EOD-like pack. No money to pay for PvE servers for all EOD owners. No publisher to support. Can not tell the truth as the creditors would finish the company the next day. Will release an unfinished game to cut costs, lose reputation and will be closed. Maddox Games story repeated.

I’ve always had a bit of a love hate relationship with this game anyway. Aspects of it are great but I can never be bothered to play past around rank 20 and probably won’t bother going back to it. I think it’s because the gameplay loop feels kind of pointless. It’s basically just a sweaty arms race.
Gamers act like they have no choice when you can easily just not play. Why even support a game or dev after this?
Gamers can be very entitled. Look how they currently are celebrating the idea of pirating Ubisoft titles. Not playing a game or boycotting a studio? No way. They still gotta get those hyped up AAA games so they can feel like they belong and can still participate in discussions. Bunch of hypocrites if you ask me. The cringe level goes even further through the roof when they call themselves "game preservers" or "Internet archivists" or somesuch. Holy sh*t do they need to touch grass badly.
The stigma of games costing more $$ needs to be addressed. I'm not defending BSG's lies and coverups, but I think we, as gamers, need to be reminded that $250 really isn't asking that much if you spend 500+ hrs playing it.
When compared to other forms of entertainment, it's actually considerably cheap. For example, bar-hopping in one night with friends roughly ends up with you paying $50 - $100 in many cases, all within a span of 4-6 hours. That's around $8.33/hr, and that's on the cheap end.
Watching a movie with a date? $30 for tickets, and another $30 for snacks and drinks. That averages out to around $15/hr.
Going to a concert? ~$120 for a fun night watching your favorite band perform live for roughly 4-6 hours. That ends up being $20/hr.
Looping back to EFT, let's just assume you have 500 hours of play time (this is a very low estimate based off of personal experience and research). If you handed over $250, that roughly puts you at $2/hr.
Granted, this is a loose simplification of the adjacent costs and values. I would encourage everyone to "math" out your hobbies and ask yourselves, "Is BSG really asking too much?" and "Should we re-evaluate the cost of gaming?"
... Just my perspective on the matter. Thoughts welcomed. Crying and/or complaining not.

Dude, I have EOD and have had it for a very long time and I wouldve bought this shit up so quick if it was 15 bucks. I havent even played tarkov in like 2 or 3 years. I know for a fact 5 of my buddies wouldve bought it as well so we can all play together. Selling it for another 100 dollars on top of the 150 we all paid is criminal and we all just laughed as we decided to play some other dumb game. Also with the elden ring DLC dropping soon, BSG will likely go under because of this if they dont quadruple back on their dumb idea.
Now it's up to us if this becomes common practice or not. Either we let tarkov die or get used to this shit.

I have 6 friends who want to play co-op tarkov with me and I can safely safe they will never pay $250 just for coop when they alreay own the game. They might pay $20 but thats pushing it.

The thing is, it is more than $250 due to tax. It is more like $300. I did buy the EOD Edition back in 2016, but the conversion rate bugged (it showed the £ being worth way more than it actually was) and I got it for $63. I have something like 3,000 hours on EFT, so I got my $60 worth, but I never did get my in-game alpha armband despite playing the alpha a whole year before the game went into closed beta. I tried contacting support about it, but they told me to stop wasting their time. If you didn't get the alpha armband, it means you didn't buy the game by 2017. I sent them a screenshot of my receipt for the game that says I purchased it on June 1st, 2016. They immediately closed my ticket and blacklisted my email 😂🤣💀

You know what's crazy? They could've just took that co-op version with saved progression, slapped a $45 price tag on it, add some bonuses to bump it up for $60 and people would've ate it up.
They could've done *anything else* and it would've been better.

When Tarkov was in its beginning stages i was laughed at, flamed, yelled at and banned from multiple forums for saying the game is a cash grab that won't last long and the system of how it works is based on making money and not having the game stable. I told everyone about cheaters and i was shut down YEARS AGO for saying there even are cheaters. I was laughed at and told to "git gud". NO ONE was hearing me when i said it will only get worse and there will only be more cheaters and i was told i'm delusional and it's "not that bad". Now i have the final laugh. But no one knows me. I'm still the crazy delusional guy who speaks nonsense even though i was right about everything and predicted the entire thing IN DETAIL, YEARS before it happened.

So everyone says that it's $250, when it's actually more like $300-350 after taxes, depending on your region. Same for the upgrade from Edge of Darkness edition, it's not just $100 but more like $125-150.

@@johnmehlman5195 Take Hungary for example: their VAT IS 27% so 250$ becomes 317$(and that's just VAT, not including processing fees depending on the payment system used). Another example I've seen was someone from Australia saying it was over 380$ for them(I can't verify this as I'm not Australian).

Nah, they could've just stopped updating it. Would've killed it just as much. Doing this was a desperate money grab because they're broke and probably don't even have money for artists so they couldn't go the cosmetic microtransactions route.
What a shame, glad I gave up on Tarkov a few years ago and I bought the eod in 2017 and have well over 8k hours on the game. Charging for features like the distress beacon that we’re talked about being in game since 2016 is fucking ridiculous

Literally just have the inventories be the only server side thing boom done.
Peer to Peer would probably be an upgrade to their servers for combat anyways.
They also removed that EOD came with arena access....they also removed old dev blogs from their youtube that covered EOD accounts and what not. Fucking shameful man.

GOOD that means this game might actually be good and worth playing. Tarkov is garbage because of how quick you die form one shot without ever seeing the person that shot at you.
That is why I am glad to hear about single player version of Tarkov so I can play it with mods and ACTUALLY HAVE FUN without fear of getting shot from something that was not actually there or able to hit me.

SAME!!! I've been playing games for 27yrs and the PVP player base has turned to mostly toxic garbage players the last several years. I want no part of PVP anymore! Give me PVE or CO-OP or I'm not interested.
The game Will be too easy If there's a solo mode, a kind of battleroyale. You need to know you are supposed to meet squads while solo
