- Skull and Bones is certainly a horrible step down from black flag and all this video aims to prove is that Black Flag is all any of us ever need. Don't forget the Freedom Cry and Rogue DLC.

Skull and Bones took 10 years to cook yet somehow came out unfinished and worse than its predecessor. This mere idea befuddled me for so long that I got this video out much later than I expected.
And the only thing that makes it worse, is that it started as a Black Flag expansion. We could have had a assassins creed black flag expansion 8 years ago and instead we have this. Damn.

Not only that but I got more entertainment out of the Empire Total War naval battles against pirates. Thats a strategy game from 2009 and was more engaging commanding those little ships to go around shooting each other than the review footage of this new game where you're in the thick of it with your crew

You know, a pirate video game should be the easiest thing in the world to make. Let a person command a ship, go around, board and raid other ships, maybe search for treasure and attack towns, maybe throw in some monsters in the ocean.

My favorite fun fact about this game is that as far as we can tell, no one at Ubisoft knew if you played as a pirate, or if you played as the boat, in this game, up until a little over a year ago. What you’d think would be one of the core design pillars of this pirate game, was seemingly not decided on for over a decade of its development.
Conceptually this game is great lmao. As for the reality of it? Sounds like actual torture. An incomplete boat sim but two mechanics. One day maybe we'll get a Sea of Thieves x ACIV, AC: Rogue.

Skull and Bones is certainly one of the games ever made. The characters are in it and the dialogue is spoken with normality. The devlopers are absolutely developers and the gameplay is probably one the the gameplay ever made. It's certainly a game that exists. I'll rate it a /10.
How'd you manage to make a pirate game not only wore that Sea of Thieves at its launch but also worse than your older pirate game?
You know what is even worse?
It's worse than Kingdom hearts 3 ship combat, wich is a side activity. But that got both the cycle weapons right but also had boarding, land exploration and diving sequences.
It was worse than a JRPG that let you play pirate for 2 to 4 ours before moving on to other stuff.
Hell the JRPG even had a superboss for ship combat that was quite hard and dropped good loot.
It's so hilarious Ubisoft devs made one too good AC game and it haunts them to this day
The fact that most of its gameplay loop catered more to being a pirate than to being an assassin to begin with (story themes fit the franchise to a tee though), and they spent ten years making this thing that has less of both...

Anyone remember the _real_ pirate games? I'm talking Sid Meier's Pirates (2004) and Pirates of the Caribbean (2003). Sure, Black Flag may have fantastic modern ship combat but those games really let you cut loose.

Commandeering _Belette_ to be the flagship of my Grand Fleet really made the latter half of my playthrough worth every moment.
Last time I checked, the Pirates! remake was only available for the Mac (on one of which I used it to play, but don’t have anymore). That was a great game. Only bad thing was the useless spyglass, bc it couldn’t look further than the edge of the screen
Sid Meiers is $7 on steam. Infinite times to replay. Anyone can get into it quickly. So much better than this ship

This video was a real return to roots. Giving Ubishit a good kicking for uninventing the wheel really takes me back to the good old days of the channel and makes me pine for better times. Back when games had the stones to say. "Will it be sophisticated: Maybe, will it be fun: Abso-damn-lutely." Now the games blend together so much with universal tropes, gimmicks and cash shops, not to mention. BUDGET CUTS. That when playing I can hardly feel a difference between franchises, much less studios. But this place is a shinning beacon in a budgetless age. Thank you Pimp.

You could, granted it just lead to a fight with the enemy captain but it was more then a damn cutscene that's for sure. You could do all sorts of stuff in the 87 version you couldn't do in Skull and bones.

I recently picked up ac4 black flag on sale for 10 dollars. Played it a long time ago when it came out. It holds up surprisingly well and is still fun and immersive little pirate sandbox. Makes me sad to see the state of games these days.

The only reason why I've stuck with Ubisoft, is because I like playing Siege. Being able to earn enough Siege Credits to rebuy the battle pass and unlock the new op, will always be fine by me.
Five to ten bucks isn't a big deal. But that's as far as it goes.
I could buy a pack of cigars and get more satisfaction out of that than I ever would out of the entirety of this AAAA game.

I learned a long time ago, that Ubisoft symbol is the opposite of a "seal of quality" it tells me to NOT buy the game. Ubisoft hasn't came up with a single unique gameplay idea since AC1
