Came here with my school from Scotland in 2010, spent 2 weeks in Wilderswil, probably the best 2 weeks of my life, the cleanest and most beautiful country I have ever seen, would love to go back
Just amazing... Awesome journey from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch ihe most heavenly nature indeed. i had been enjoyed it in last April.. full snow covered mountain. wooow..... unforgetable memory ever.
I SO loved this trip. If I had to do it over again, I would have traveled the first train the night before, spent the night in Wengen or Grindlewald. Then hopped the last two trains. Take your time!! This is a very expensive trip, and there is nothing that says you have to do the trains back to back, especially on the way down! Get a train schedule and see when the trains are running.
I would love to be there in Jungfraujoch, besides I reeeaaally want to go ski, can someone please tell me, what Ski stations are available in october???

I see now that the third rail is a cog rail presumably to help the train move in ice and snow and steep grades. No doubt a necessity in the winter. Pete

Do the : Interlaken Ost - Grindelwald - Kleine Scheidegg - Jungfraujoch on your way UP and when coming back : Jungfraujoch - Kleine Scheidegg - Lauterbrunnen - Interlaken Ost Trains are punctual and always ask for assistance if need help. When you arrive at the Top of Europe building go all the way up to go outside and see the snow ! And also go to the Sphinx Observatory ( by elevator ). Google and get all research ahead of your trip. You will enjoy it so much ! Greetings & Have a great time ...oh and buy chocolate ! ♥
Excellent video Amesh. The scenery is fantastic and lots of train action. I love the "baggage car" and hope it doesn't rain. I see the catenary towers and the wires but what is the third rail for? That's a little difference from the other videos which showed two rails. A narrow gauge train perhaps? I also wonder if there are a lot of tourists here or are there that many local people that travel by train. What a beautiful place to live. Pete
Norgale .Norgale - the third rail you see is because the Wengenalpbahn is a rack and pinion railway - so it has enough adhesion to climb up the mountain...

If you stay in the Lauterbrunnen valley, you are short train trips to LOTS of cool places, like the Jung Frau. Do not try to make the moutains/weather fit your itinerary, do it the other way around. There are screens in the train station that show you the weather on top If it isn't clear, wait for a different day. TAKE YOUR TIME. You do not have to do the trains back to back. Come up with 3 or 4 ideas of what you want to see in this area, and then switch the days to match the weather. I ended up spending 11 days here. I couldn't make myself leave.

Switzerland is heaven on earth. I been there in 2013 with family. Absolutely incredible experience.
As of 5/26/2020 --- 56 people must have fallen on their heads. That is the only reasonable explanation for people giving this video a thumbs down.

The Bernese Oberland Bahn uses the cogs for the steep section, the WengenAlp Bahn is the longest cog railway in the world and uses it throughout!
