The blade is only partially worn, and there are still some parts that are not worn.

The position of the blade is very important when trying this jig.
If doesn't work, try shifting the blade position slightly.

@@alans1816 No because the holes determine the width of the dowels you are trying to make. Drilling the holes first ensures that the blade slots will be lined up correctly to the dowel holes. If you put the blades in first one side would always be off a little and you would produce wonky dowels.

I was luckily enough to have a wonderful grandpa who was happy to teach his granddaughter many things. One was putting grooves up dowels allows the glue to travel the whole length, making a better fix. He also taught mr French polishing but we never got round to his other hobby which was book binding. Right up until 6:17, I had absolutely no idea what was going on here. Then the realization hit and I quite literally gasped. I beleive that sensation is what marketers call "surprise & delight" :P Can't wait to make this myself!

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. When I saw the finished dowels, I thought, "That was brilliant". But at the end of the video, I thought, "He did all that just to make a board?". Then I read the comments and realized it was all about the dowels. *Palm to forehead*

at the first couple of seconds, I was like : "that's not worn out"
some time into the video, I was like: "holy mother that's a lot of cool jigs"
at the result, I was like: "nothing he has is worn out, its just another jig"
