    Your dead man switch could simply disable the motor controller, It couldn't be too hard to work out. e,g, make it drop the logic supply on the esc. For a kill switch you can short out the supply which would force the fuse to blow.

    what is your battery configuration for this efoil, how do you connect them, what is your total Volt and A-h? Sorry I dont speak english very well and I miss some words on minute 2:00.

    There are several solid state options that can switch 200 amps very cheaply :). An IGBT will likely work for your application.

    Great video Max. FYI the current meter requires a large shunt which the current flows, not sure if you have this as I didn't see it in the video. Looking forward to seeing more on the board!

      Yeah, I read something about this afterwards and that kinda sucks. I probably won’t add it now.

    200A relay should be quite cheep if you look for a car starter relay.

    Brilliant job body
    Do you think the PRO MARINE 300 AMP ESC will be a good ESC without issues?
    I would like to order it if you recommend it
    Thank you

      Yes. I finished prop testing. There is a video about it.

    Hi Max! It seems like you didn't finish the board jet. What issues do you have had with you motor/ESC? Will you finish it?

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  5 лет назад

      I will finish it! The only issue is time at the moment. I have to work a lot and don’t have as much free time to work on youtube. I hope this will change. I am about to finish water proofing and then testing the prop.

  • @IrishSkruffles

    Very interesting project, the end result should be really fun :)
    Gotta wonder what motor you're going to get though..

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  6 лет назад +1

      I am looking for a 100kV inrunner motor that runs at 44V and with about 5000Watts. The diameter should be less than 70mm. Motors that are available currently are unsuitable because they are either out-runners, so not waterproof-able or they run too fast with low torque. They are made for RC planes. Air is thin, water is thick. So we need a lot of torque and low speed. Props have cavitation at high speeds.

      Max Maker
      I thought it'd have to be powerful alright but wow.. A 5kW motor! Good thing you have the sea to cool it ;)

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  6 лет назад +1

      Oh yeah. The sea makes this much easier, and that the motor is underwater. I just hope the ESC does not blow up, that is most expensive, and I had one blow up on me before. Its like new years eve fireworks.

    • @EduardKieser
      @EduardKieser 6 лет назад

      In the video you talk about motors that are rumored to be perfect for this. Which ones are you talking about?

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  6 лет назад

      APS 70110 and APS 56115. However, the first one only has 3000W, and the second one needs 110V DC, which is to dangerous for my taste. So I use the 70110 for now. At least I am testing it and see if it could work. Once I know the thrust, Ill build the motor pod.

  • @PhysicsAnonymous
    @PhysicsAnonymous 6 лет назад

    Damn Max, you're really going for it! That's awesome. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Your ESC will have some sort of cut off switch you can use as an e-stop. I know it wont be as* safe, as it will still be feeding power up to that point. but at least it will stop the motor from running away on you. Also you might want to consider putting a stringer down the center of the board, it will add a surprising amount of structure and rigidity to the board. If you get tired of waiting for the specialty motor, I might have some suggestions for some off the shelf motors you could modify.

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  6 лет назад

      Thanks. I pretty much god the motor now. There are two made by alien power systems. One is waterproof and the other one is easy to waterproof at home with epoxy. I also found a 200A relay for electric forklifts on ebay. Made in the UK and great quality.

      They will just shine through the hull into the water. I hope they still work after laminating them!

    Awesome stuff! looking forward to the result! Might be difficult to glass all the details on the top side of the board?

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  6 лет назад

      It was haha. There were a ton of patches and overlaps. The glassing was alright, but then there was a lot of sanding and filling. I am glad that everything will be painted over.

    Can you add relays in parallel?

  • @jakecalvello8207
    @jakecalvello8207 6 лет назад +2

    How much did this cost overall?

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  6 лет назад

      So far 200€ for the batteries, 30€ for foam, 50€ for the case, 20€ for the aluminium box, 200€ for all the electric stuff, 100€ for glassfibre and epoxy, 500€ for the wing. 1100€ total. I guess another 600€ for the motor and the ESC. Not cheap.

    • @jakecalvello8207
      @jakecalvello8207 6 лет назад
